We know the difference in food. .. we ordered late tonight and it was just disrespectful how bad it was... Good thing I said Light Onions It's a hit or miss with this place. Some days good and others not worthy of mentioning. One thing I really dislike is how they deep fry their spare ribs instead of broiling them. I get it, it's fast, but it's not what they're supposed to be and your bag is filled with oil. Really bad choice on the restaurants behalf. Tonight, one of the things I ordered was Pork fried rice extra pork and light on the onions. Pork seems ok but the onions were on their heavy as usual. Chinese/American Lunch Special Review - I didn't expect much reward when I stopped into King China on State Road, Croydon, PA, for lunch after getting new tires for my car a few days ago. Walking in, the shop appeared worn and in need of some TLC. The menu was a trifold handout and photos of their greatest hits high on the wall. I ordered egg foo young, which came with wonton soup and fried rice, for around $7. Surprisingly, the meal was pretty good (for Americanized Chinois). The chicken stock was not overly salted, nor did it taste past its prime. The wontons were fairly thick skinned, but the filling was decent. The rice was likewise recently made and still granular without being clumpy and with plenty of veggies and bits of pork. Finally, the egg pancakes were light and loaded with bbq pork, sprouts, carrot and peas. The brown sauce was well made and plainly prepared just for my order. Although the soup was served in a plastic pint container, the solids arrived on a nice heavy gauge plate. It would have been great had they offered wooden disposable chopsticks, rather than flimsy plastic utensils. I enjoyed the lunch despite its expected shortcomings, but moreso for its small unexpected pleasures. read more

The food here is pretty standard Chinese takeout. Nothing that outstanding. I ordered beef ho fun, beef with string beans, Szechuan wontons, and General Tso's tofu, and fried chicken wings. The beef ho fun was really overcooked. The noodles were all mushy, and the beef was really chewy. The Szechuan wontons weren't spicy at all but was just really salty. I remember in 2003 they had an Orange Duck special, and a NY Strip Chinese style special...they are still on the eraser board, not on the menu and from $5.95 then to $7.95 now...those specials are as excellent as I they first day I tried them. The portion size of the duck is appropriate, and not packed with fillers or fluffers to make it seem like you're getting more like other places cheat their customer. I grew up eating from this place and as much as I enjoyed their food, it paled in comparison to "China Wok", which is located in Croydon Manor. Furthermore, years ago I purchased some lo mein and found a piece of steel in it--I shit you not. I was flabbergasted. I approached the management with this ordeal and they approached this situation as if it were an ordinary thing; not only did they refuse to give me a refund for my meal, they simply just threw out the piece of steel and expected me to finish my order. Friendly people, good food for the genre so I'm going to have to give them five stars. Everything is relative; this is not fancy food, I like to consider it "Chinese street food" like what you would buy off of a good street vendor in China. I also consider this type it take a restaurant to be a "greasy chopstick" (I coined the term...use it). The only issue I really have in my couple of visits here is that the chicken wings were salty. Nothing special. Believe me when I tell you, I know good Chinese food. And to me, what makes Chinese food good is not using the chicken fat for every chicken meal. Ordered orange chicken from here, it's all chicken fat. Sauce was pretty good but the chicken was soggy, almost like it being microwaved, and like I said, all chicken fat. The BEST Chinese place is literally a half mile away, the problem is, they don't deliver. I don't want to say this place is BAD, it's your typical Chinese place. And it's open pretty late for delivery, so I get it at least once a month. Enjoyed the food and the fried rice however when we ordered online it went thru as pickup not delivery so after 1.5 hrs called to see where the food was.
