Great views, nice water. Squint your eyes hard enough and you might think you're at the ocean. I was there in March, I'd love to come back when it is HOT so I can actually get in the water and swim around. Lots of Air BnB's for rent in the area, too.

We were on route to South Lake Tahoe from a day of snowboarding in Sugar Bowl and saw this pier and we just had to stop. It was a sun shining gorgeous day in Lake Tahoe and this place was the spot to be. There were so many people just enjoying the views of the lake and the fresh air. Albeit, I'm sure this is a pretty small and nice beach when it's not covered in snow. When it is it's also pretty picturesque. We're so glad we took a quick stop just right across the street from the pier at a 15 minute parking spot. Did a little froggering and was able to take in the clear waters...yes super clear. You can see the ridges of the sand through the water. Stop by and just take a quick leg stretch...you'll thank me for it!

Kings Beach doesn't look the way most people expect a beach on Lake Tahoe to look - the views you'll find here aren't as stunning as many you may have seen on postcard that feature the Lake. That said, it's almost certainly the most populated area on the Lake - it has places to rent boats, restaurants, and lots of opportunity to engage in water sport activities. Tip: Kings Beach is large enough for a big crowd to spread out on it and still be able to find space for themselves. On a typically busy summer day in Lake Tahoe, this might be the easiest place to find parking. That's not to say it still can't be tough - we drove around most of the Lake on our first visit just searching for a place where we could park and still get down to the water's edge. To sum it up, of all the beaches I've been to in the Lake Tahoe area, this one would be near the bottom of my list of favorites, but if you're just wanting a place where you can get to the lake, then Kings Beach will do ;-)

    Breathtaking view!

Beautiful! Just absolutely beautiful scenery! The sun was shining and yes it was cool but the view is well worth it!

This a nice spot to take in Lake Tahoe. Parking during the summer is no fun. There is a few pay lots that are currently $10.00. There is street parking too. If you arrive before 10:00 a.m. it is easier to find parking and a spot on the beach. It can get cozy as there are lots of people. Don't worry yourself Gov. Newsom, social distancing is being practiced. There is a rental place that rents paddle boards, peddle boats, and jet skis. Prices are normal for rentals. There is a parasailing boat that launches from here too. The beach has nice sand and is kept clean. There are some rocks in the swim area so I recommend water shoes. Keep your sun block handy too, the sun is very intense and reflects off of the water too.

Such a beautiful and serene place to relax. Beautiful views with mountains covered with snow in the background. A nice clean beach located right next to a busy street and a strip of stores and food spots. Tons of activities available to do for rent: Kayaking, parasailing, jet skis and much more. Bathrooms were clean and very accessible. Plenty of parking for a price. Water was cold in the month of July, but plenty of sitting areas on the sand. Beach wasn't too crowded for such a nice day neither. I could definitely spend all day there

Nice beach on the north side. On-site parking, with access to beach and kids play area. There is a on-site rental location for kayaks, sea doos, and paddle boards. This is a nice relaxing area of the lake.

5/9/2020 - Went to Kings Beach with some friends and their kids. Ideal beach spot in North Lake Tahoe right now becuase most all the parking lots are closed do to COVID-19. Kings Beach's parking lot was also closed, however, we found a spot on the street about a block away from the beach. When you have young kids in the group it made it very easy to walk to it, rather than other beach locations around the Lake Tahoe where some walks are long and down steep terrain. Kings Beach is also pretty nice with sandy beaches and shallow water so the kids in the group could splash around. I do recommend this beach right now during COVID-19 until the parking lots open back up.

A great state beach and the best beach in Kings Beach! Downside yes you do have to pay to get in but you do get certain perks with a state beach. The beach is clean and you would be hard to spot trash. So please make sure you help keep it clean and pick up after yourself. This beach is particularly awesome too because you can walk out pretty far and only ever hit chest high. So this is a great spot if you just want to be lazy, if you have kids that want to play around or if you want to go in the water but not all the way. Also because the sand is higher here the water is also warmer which is a good thing will all that melted snow feeding into this lake! Brrrr. This beach is also centrally located to many lunch/dinner spots and water sport rentals. I recommend the Burrito Window for lunch, White Caps for dinner and Adrift Tahoe for paddle boards, canoes or kayaks!

I do not like this beach it's very very dirty a lot of fat people come here. There's no hot women whatsoever I'm experiencing pain and suffering just by looking at them. The little old lady with white old hair at the ticket booth is not nice at all.

All things Tahoe are worth 5 stars. Scored on parking here especially with the holiday traffic. Beautiful, clean beach with clear blue water. A hidden gem and free parking!

Actually this is a surprisingly nice beach. Friendly folks around and the water is perfect. Nice coffee shops and restaurants around. Water does get a bit choppy around 3PM but still pretty nice. Kayak and Jet Ski rentals available right on the beach

We usually spend our annual family vacation at Sand Harbor but due to COVID limited capacity, we found our way to Kings Beach each day. We found parking easily M-F between the hours of 8-10am. My brother and family joined us after noon one day and found parking easily. Having exact change ($10) or credit card to pay for parking is recommended. The beach was clean, restrooms were clean, rangers were friendly. We had a great time and did not miss Sand Harbor this year.

Very nice beach. Water was clean and clear. The only bad thing is they need a bathroom on both sides of the beach. Clean ones too.

Looking for an epic hike that isn't too far from Reno? Look no further than Mount Rose! To find the…read moretrailhead, head up the Mount Rose Highway and once you reach near the top, you'll notice a decent sized parking lot off to the side of the Highway. The trailhead begins behind the bathrooms. This hike is slightly deceptive because for the first half (2.5 or so miles), it's relatively flat. I mean, you're definitely going upwards but you barely notice it (at least I didn't). Once you reach the waterfall (the unofficial halfway point), that's where things begin to get a bit more interesting. The scenery gets better and better, but the incline in the trail will get far more noticeable not just due to steepness, but due to the elevation as well. Many people were turning around as my friend and I continued going. In no way is this a difficult hike, however, it's definitely not easy either. If you're out of shape or have any medical problems, this may not be the hike for you. There's plenty of other gorgeous hikes in the area that would be more suitable. But if you think you can tackle the 10,778 foot Mountain, by all means give it a go. The hike is just shy of 11 miles round trip. Once at the summit, you'll have an amazing 360 view with Lake Tahoe on one side and Reno on the other. It makes for some amazing pano shots.

Okay, I am going to probably get a lot of hate from giving this hike 3 stars instead of 4 or 5…read morestars which seems to be the norm in terms of reviews. When I go on hikes, I prefer it to be flat, scenic and with pretty meadows. I was not expecting it to be quite scary actually as my husband reassured me that this hike was easy and flat; he was wrong trust me. The beginning of the hike was a steep uphill climb that was full of sand and dirt. Combined with the intense heat and the uneven rocks, I was already getting a shortness of breath when we climbed the uphill. My skin also got a burning sensation even though I slaughtered on sunscreen before the hike. I looked up the UV index on my phone and it was at level 11; wow, no wonder why I felt like I was burning! Thankfully, I brought some sunscreen with me so I started applying it to my face and skin again. The heat was also so intense that my hair started sticking to the back of my neck. Anyways, we continued our climb and when we reached the top, my heart started racing as I noticed we were a good 9000 feet up in the air and the trail was so thin and narrow that my husband and I had to make a single file line just to walk on it. I remember throughout the entire hike, I had to look down because the rocks were so uneven (trust me, they were everywhere) because I didn't want to fall and hurt myself. Another thing about being so high up, we encountered wind storms that constantly blew up dirt and sand on our faces; talk about feeling super dirty and gross! The sand and dirt got all over my clothes, skin and hair. Needless to say, I was not enjoying myself and I kept wishing we were lying on the beach instead listening to quiet waves and sunbathing. After a good 2 and a half mile hike, we finally reached the waterfall and relaxed. The waterfall was gorgeous and there were cute chipmunks too; this is why I gave my review three stars; this was the one good thing about our hike. When we got home that night, I scrubbed my face clean and washed my hair twice too. For avid hikers like my husband, this hike will be enjoyable as for me however, I will take a pass for next time.

The restaurant is convenient for a refreshing drink or to satisfy your hunger. The bathrooms could use more cleaning through out the day since there is so many visitors passing through all day. Or, take a look at my tips to maximize your chances: 1. Reserve your day in advance at www.reservenevada.com to enter before 10:30 AM. 2. If you only realize this during your vacation (instead of a week earlier), you'll have to battle it out at 10:30 AM along with thousands of others. The problem? There's only one lane each way, so you'll end up stuck in an hour-long traffic jam. We left Tahoe City at 9:00 AM on Sunday and still didn't make it in. Part of our group walked in on foot and noticed plenty of empty parking spaces, but when we asked why they weren't opening the gate, the staff told us they'd "open at 5 PM" and even demanded a fee for walking through a park we didn't even plan to stay in (and no, you're not allowed to just walk along the road). Everything besides the natural beauty here is a disaster: - Poorly planned access roads that leave people stuck in traffic for hours, even those not going into the park. - Rude, unhelpful staff who clearly don't care about visitors. - A completely broken system: instead of letting cars in as spaces free up, they just say, "We'll open the gates at 5." At a place this busy, that's unacceptable. I'm giving 1 star not for the park itself, but for its management and staff. Oh, and one more thing: if you finally make it into town and leave your car there, don't count on the shuttle. You'll wait for 2 hours, only for it not to show up - or to arrive full, with staff telling you to "wait for the next one" over and over until your day is wasted. Our situation was even worse: six people with paddleboards. We had to drop off people and gear at a nearby viewpoint (20-minute parking only), then drive back into town, park, and take a $50 taxi ride to meet up with our friends. The nature here is absolutely stunning, but the organization will ruin your day. Plan ahead carefully, since you have no other place with this monopoly.
