Checking the area, we found this hotel right next to the train station. The proximity to the major sights was too good to pass and the price for the room was really reasonable. The path to the hotel from the train station is very easy. Take a right out of the station and the hotel is located right on the next bloc. Escalators will take you to the lobby upstairs. Walk through the lobby door.... and here you are! The staff was super friendly and even though we arrived very early.... around 11 am.... they got us a room. I understand that European stand is an afternoon check in. But most hotel have been very accommodating. The bar looked very inviting and the path to the room easy. Remember European standard for sizes. If you are used to travel with large American size bags, the elevators and rooms are fairly small. So, you will have an issue.... trust me! We got to the room and it s a simple format with no amenities. There s a shower gel for the shower and sink soap. There are no tissue box or coffee/ tea station. This hotel has a small pool on the first floor and no gym. I understand they offer a nice breakfast buffet but we would rather find a nice bakery on the way to the sights.

The daily champagne breakfast buffet was delicious, offering everything we could possibly think of. The servers, front desk staff and room attendants were all very friendly and helpful. Our family shot a few games of pool each day just for fun. The stunning, red and white pool table is located near the lobby, across from a white grand piano. We listened to many talented guests sing and play the piano as we played pool. We also met other guests who were return visitors to the hotel. Boscolo exceeded our expectations. He made the entire trip fun and engaging and he taught us all quite a bit about the history of France and it's inhabiting towns. The Manoir is a beautiful place, in a beautiful part of the country. Fantastic location, great views, delicious food and super friendly staff. We felt very comfortable and welcomed during our stay. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. The food at their restaurant was so much better than what I expected. And the staff went out of their way to answer any and all our questions. However, in typical fashion, I will complain about something; the WiFi signal could use a boost. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. And if you come here, so will you. This place is great.

You need to rent a car though but coming from the Nice airport you'd be spending $100 on a taxi each way regardless so if you're only in town for a few days this is doable. I love the environment here: eat breakfast on the patio where the view of the hills and fields is lovely. The manoir itself is charming - all made of stone with ivy on the walls. The rooms are small though. And wifi only on the lobby is a pain. The prices are very reasonable especially compared to Cannes so all-in-all it's worth it. Oh and the food is delicious.

The grand central ballroom area is breathtaking, with mixes of classic and modern art adorning the space. It doubles for event space as well as I'm sure the oft weddings reception. Each floor has a different-themed decor as you climb the ornate polished brass-rail staircase (or yes take the elevator), so it's worth exploring all floors for what amounts to a museum visit. Rooms will remind of a bygone era of decadence, and you're steps from the shore across the street. Our visit was for a weekend congress, and it certainly set the standard for any return trips to Nice.

Classy, historical 5 Star hotel that doubles as an art museum…read more Just concluded a wonderful stay in Nice while the nearby Cannes Film Festival and Monaco Grand Prix week were underway. Arrived at the hotel and was treated like a King. As a member of Leading Hotels of the World there was a welcome letter, complimentary toiletries gift set from Lalique, and I received a complimentary 60 minute massage at Le Spa as part of my package. The ascent to my room was epic, starting off with the velvet red elevator with automatic opening doors. As I got off the elevator I was greeted with an assortment of art (which is present on all floors and the common areas). I received an upgrade to a garden room overlooking the Musee Massena and a partial sea view which was magnificent (room 404). The room was well appointed with a super comfortable bed and came equipped with electric blinds that allowed me to sleep after sunrise. Chocolates were left bedside each evening of the stay. Each morning I was offered the breakfast buffet as well as a menu from which I could order specialty items off of such as pancakes and an egg white omelette. Service and food was great. The evenings offered live entertainment in the 1913 and Versailles bars with an outdoor smoking seating option for cigar aficionados. All the staff, particularly the Concierge team, were extremely helpful and made restaurant reservations for me upon request. The hotel also offers a beach club, which I did not take advantage of. The location was great, just 15-20 minutes from the airport, right across the street from Promenade Anglais, a 15-20 minute walk to the Nice-Ville train station, and about 15-20 minute walk to Old Town. I would certainly consider staying here again.

Views from our top floor harbor facing room were spectacular and lifetime memories. The room had a comfortable bed and large (by European standards) bathroom. Hotel offers option of an extra room charge for breakfast or to not have breakfast. I appreciated the option as we prefer to walk in the morning and find our own dining location. Staff was polite and helpful. I asked regarding nearby restaurants and they recommended two. One was a cafe across the street from the hotel entrance and the second a marina outdoor casual food stand. Both were excellent recommendations and we ate at both twice. The marina is good for lunch sitting at the water line and the cafe is excellent for evening dinner and wine. Also noteworthy is that staff did not mention the expensive restaurant nearby on the harbor. I could see why when I walked down to harbor restaurant and saw their exorbitant prices. Hotel de la Darse is an excellent hotel and good value!

For example, it is extremely tight to get to the side of the bed against the wall, and the bathroom wall protrudes out, making the room feel even smaller than it is. Very limited space for large luggage and the floor (carpet) and cloth covered shelving around the room felt dirty. Again, they have nice amenities so if you won't be spending too much time in your room, this hotel will do. They have complimentary coffee, pastries, and fruit throughout the day. They also offer a breakfast in the mornings but it is not included in your room rate. There is a nice rooftop patio where we spent most of our time in the hotel when we weren't in the room. Unfortunately, they don't let you drink your own wine out on the patio so we had to bring it back to our room. If you are arriving or departing Cannes by the train station, the biggest upside of this hotel is that it is literally right next to the train station. There's also a Starbucks near the entrance and several bakeries across the street. Out of the four hotels we stayed at in France, Okkos was the most disappointing but it was also the most affordable. Cannes is also a relatively smaller city compared to Nice or France, so we had a lot more time to relax at our hotel. Looking back, I probably would have paid for a nicer hotel knowing we would want to spend more time in our room, especially in a city like Cannes

Okko fit the bill for a centrally-located, hip, and affordable hotel. While it goes with the…read moreminimalist approach, I never felt like the facilities or experience was missing. To the contrary, the hotel was inviting and provided value-adds in the form of rooftop deck and the lounge-cum-breakfast facility. I really couldn't be happier with my New Year's Eve experience! It was my first experience at an Okko Hotel and I'd happily return!
