Big mistake. I had jerk chicken which was the most disappointing thing I had tasted for a long time and almost inedible it was so hot and spicy. I have an asbestos tongue but this was ridiculous. I suspect that the 'cook' had just smeared jerk paste over it instead of creating a marinade. Worse was the fact that she dismissed the complaints of everyone, by saying that was how it is supposed to be. Err don't think so. There are ways of dealing with complaints and this was very badly managed Other meals were small, bland and ordinary. I would go back as it's a lovely pub, but would make sure that the chef was on duty before I ordered anything.

We walked out there with the dogs (which are welcome and the pub even provide treats and water) and had a lovely Sunday lunch on their terrace followed by a game of table tennis in the garden. It's not just the garden and the settings that make this place so wonderful, it's the service, the food, the home made honey and everything that goes with it. The worst thing about the Wheatsheaf is having to leave. Highly recommended.
