Trisha B. was quite right - King Street is and will forever be known as the posh street. I work close by and often find myself walking up and down, eyeing up the suits and glamorous dresses that line the windows.
However, there appears to have been quite a significant drop in the amount of store occupation, which is really sad. Look past the sleek lines of jewellery stores and TM Lewin, and you'll see boards over windows and To Let signs all over the place.
Happily, there is one great thing King Street is being used for which should pull it back into the heart of Manchester - street food. Vouge's Fashion Night Out, Guerrilla Eats and the Christmas markets all set up shop here and gives the street the buzz it so desperately needs on a day to day basis.
My recent visit was for the aforementioned VFNO. After hearing my current favourite trader Barnhouse Bistro would be in attendance, I knew I had to pop down on my lunch break and grab a burger. On this occasion they were offering steak burgers with lettuce and cheese - the classics are often the best. It was delicious and wolfed down, causing much jealousy in the office. I washed it down with a pink lemonade from the Real Lemonade Stand, which was delicious - if only I could have tried one of their cocktails!
Keep the events coming and King Street will get its mojo back. I just hope that doesn't take too long. read more
