There isn't a bad dish in this place but I strongly recommend trying their lamb dishes and making sure you ask for an assortment of dips. The real joy or Arabesque are the many little side dishes served with pita to enjoy with or as your meal. Hummus, tabbouleh, baba ganoush, pickled vegetables, and on and on. There is no end to these sides! (Honestly, I've been here 3 times and I still haven't seen them all). If there are dishes you know you want, it's fine for everyone to order an entree for themselves, but truly the best arabesque experience you can have is to order everything family style. This can mean ordering several dishes and sharing them, or it can mean actually ordering the mixed menu where you simply pay by the head and the chef provides an assortment of food for your table. If this is your first visit, I highly recommend the latter. Just tell your server you want a faimly style meal for however many people you have with the dips/sides and they will bring you a platter of mixed, grilled, seasoned meal with potatoes and vegetables and an assortment of sides and I promise you will be in heaven with each bite. So, why only 4 stars? I had to take one of for the service which can vary wildly from visit to visit. Strangely, if you are there when it is busy, the service is very attentive. But if you are there when it is slow, and god help you if you are seated in a corner, you may actually need to go find a waiter for drink refills or more bread. It's not a big deal, but can be annoying when you want to keep enjoying your delicious meal but your beer and water has gone dry. Regardless, don't let that stop you from checking this place out. It is absolutely a top 5 restaurant in Essen and if you are there, you owe it to yourself to give it a try!

Great food for few money. If I want to grab a well-tasty lunch to take with me, I get a Schawarma -…read moremuch cheaper than a "Döner" and with many more spices. Classically, it's filled with chicken. There are also variations without meat like one with Halloumi cheese or falafel. One other great thing: Every guest gets a small cup of Arabic style cinnamon tea (that can even be bought for a reasonable price to make at home). It doesn't depend on what you order - it's standing on the shelf where you order and shortens the waiting time. Although that's not needed most of the time as you'd rather burn your mouth from finishing the great, hot tea than finishing it before the friendly staff serves it to you. You can get the meals either as a bread to take with you or as a plate dish to sit down. Well, you may also sit down with the bread, but the portion in the bread is only if you are not that hungry. That's because I like them - the Schawarma doesn't make you feel sick after eating them like it happens after a really big Döner. Well what I want to say, if you are really hungry, you better choose a plate dish. They also taste great.

The restaurant is highly decorated with Middle East affairs and lovely setting. We had mix of starter which are all very lively... Hummus, tabbouleh, palmito, kibbeh, etc.., all the classics and all were great. For main, we all had grilled dishes which were all good size, I.e. Not too big, and good grilling... Meat was tender and juicy. The only thing is that I found meat extremely salty... I could not eat half of my dishes and drank 2 bottles of water but all other people whom I was with finished the plate and all very happy so you may not realise it.,, Overall great option in middle of downtown!

The interior is wonderful, it reminds you of some Moroccan riad The food is excellent the appetizer plate for around 10Eur is a whole lot we were 4 people and it was enough and very tasty. The meat and the items from the grill are tender, juicy and they use some kind of special spices which makes you constantly guessing how come they are so excellent The owner is very friendly, hospitality to the core is present, so If somebody wants to have a nice evening and try a dinner a bit different from the usual European tastes, give the place a chance and it will be worth it. As far as I am concerned I think this will be a regular for us
