After barber-ous disappointments with a number of local men's stylists, I asked a buddy who cuts his hair... and he turned me on to Ana. She's great! I've got thick, wavy hair that's hard to get right: too long and it's a mishapen mop, too short and it's a cowlicky cactus. Ana knows what she's doing. I'm rocking a sharp haircut and no longer dread going to the barber. Check this place out, guys.

Oh WOW...I found Denise on IG when I did a search on Balayage Portland. I have been searching for…read moresomeone who could give me that natural sun kissed look that I had when I was a kid with blonde hair. Let me just say that I don't "speak" hair. I seem to ask for one thing and always get another. I hate striped highlights and yet that seems to be what I end up with because people have foiled my hair. The other problem is that it will look one way framing my face but different in the back. Then finally my hair has been over processed and compromised. Too many highlights have pulled the curls right out of my hair and I need someone who can help reduce that damage. So these were some of my gripes. Then I found Denise who is an expert. No....I mean really. She teaches others how to hand paint "Balayage" hair. She also uses products like Olaplex and K18 to help preserve and condition the hair. Denise listened to me and had me come in to consult about my hair. I knew she wouldn't be cheap and I knew that she was booked solid but I am so happy to say I was able to get an appt. I also don't need to come in every 8 weeks. These highlights grow naturally and will only need to be redone every 6 months with just some toner to refresh it. (Hey I'm starting to speak hair because she explained things to me!!) I'm so happy but look at the photos for yourself. They speak louder than my review.

Regardless, at the time, haircut was $7 which was a great price for the service. Now, 10 years later, with time, inflation, due to government taxation, etc...price for haircuts is now $10.00. Admittedly, the place isn't the best looking establishment, but I don't go there to sit and stare at the walls and ceiling. However, despite the time and price increase, the same person still cuts and does a wonderful job with my hair. As long as they keep the prices fair and the good service that they do, I'll keep going back. Try it once and decide for yourself. My wife was the first to discover this salon within walking distance of our house, and raved about both Lily and her service, and after hearing that a haircut here was half the price I'd been previously paying, I needed to check it out. I mean, what's the risk? It's not like I have a whole lot of hair left, anyway! Thankfully, Lily is friendly, professional and extremely talented, able to do the same work as my previous stylist, in half the time, for half the price, so generous tipping is in order! Very recommended. Don't overlook this little gem in Parkrose. I won't be looking elsewhere for a stylist again, unless she ALSO happens to move away.

I got a trim with layers and also got my frizzy hair thinned out. She only charged me $24 plus tip, which is probably the cheapest haircut i have had in 20 years. She did a dry cut which made the appointment go a lot faster, I was done in 30 minutes. Lilly is also super sweet and kept a pleasant conversation going. Her shop is really clean and I felt safe. You keep thinking you need one, or that you should have made some time, but life gets busy. The other down side is- once you do find the time... getting into an appointment is a obstacle itself. I had a day off one afternoon and being nearby Gresham, I saw Amy on Yelp and decided- why not? Gave her a call and she answered and was able to get me in asap. She was flexible, courteous and kind. Once in, we went over what I would like to get accomplished and the price points. First off, prices are very much affordable. Secondly, she obviously has the experience and care. Noticed when she shampooed my hair the temperature was warm and perfect, and during the final rinse she switched to cool water. She was able to accomplish the length and texture of my hair without overdoing it and gave me the perfect look for my round face. At the end, my hair was silky smooth, soft to touch and cut beautifully all in a short time span. Since we had the time, I also decided to get my eyebrows waxed and let me tell you. My eyebrows looks more fuller! I started off with thin small brows that was grown and unruly and without precision waxing and detailed tweezing she made it seem perfect! Bonus feature is she accepts the 10% discount when you arrive and check in on Yelp. Highly highly recommend for everyone to stop by and try Amy's! I would have loved to get photos, but she said she is in the middle of renovating and upgrading her sign and inside. *Covid procedures on hand. Hand sanitizers available before entering and she wore a mask the whole time, and I did the same.
