The hygienist, Eva, was fantastic! She did my teenager's cleaning first, and they even invited me to sit in the room while she was in there. They were fast, efficient, and thorough. Once the cleaning was complete, the doctor came in to do an full neck/oral exam. Right away, he said to call him by his first name, and started chatting about school and such with her. He did his exam, and put our mind at rest about the way a few teeth were growing in, then gave a heads up that there might be a very slight overlap with a few teeth as she gets her wisdom teeth. He was very open about the cost of orthodontics to treat this, and said that he really wouldn't recommend spending that kind of money on something that will hardly be noticeable. When my turn came, I had the same level of exemplary service. I have a few obscure medical conditions, but Dr Roddy knew both of them immediately, and discussed how they can affect my bite/joints. I was astounded at his knowledge, and impressed that he knew how these conditions could potentially affect my oral health. I really can't say enough positive things about the staff overall. Wonderful office, lovely people, and overall great place to go!

The receptionist was polite and friendly over the phone and in-person, and the hygienist was great with both my children, getting them interested and excited about what was going on. It was the dentist himself that reduced the star rating to 3. He was very condescending and spoke to me like I was a teen mom, telling me I had better start saving some money, because my daughter would need extensive dental work in a few years, and it was going to be expensive. First of all, both my husband and I have professional jobs--I may look young, but I'm 32, not 19. Second, my daughter was 6 when he made the pronouncement that she would need extensive dental work by age 9. Her teeth are straight and clean though slightly crowded, which sounds more like a retainer or possibly braces than the oral surgery he was scaring her with. My daughter sat there in the chair, clenching her fists like she was terrified as he said this. I believe he should have spoken to me in private and been far less presumptuous. If you want a dentist for adults within walking distance of your house, I would recommend him for that, but not for children.

They never try to up-sell- in fact, Dr. Dean is pretty conservative about what is necessary for the kids and waiting until all the permanent teeth have come in (when he could easily sell a customer on braces, whitening treatments, etc). Our 8 year old still insists that no shots are given for cavities (he had 2 & they distracted him enough that he had/has no clue a needle was involved).

With this clinic being so close and also right on my way to work, I thought it seemed like an easy solution. They were nice enough to start when I set up the appointment and picked up the paperwork. When I went in however, the dentist was so unprofessional and mean. She was judge mental about my diet, told me I need to give up any drink besides water, and told me that I was using bad toothpaste. She also had the audacity to say that I really didn't seem to care about my teeth and that I probably hadn't been to a dentist in years. I take pride in my teeth and take good care of them (brush, floss, and mouthwash twice a day). When they started examining my teeth, they told me I had 14 cavities that needed attention immediately. I did not believe this at all so when they tried to schedule me to get all of them fixed, I told them that I wanted a second opinion. At this point they put me in a separate room and brought in their accountant to talk to me about a payment plan. When I told her I didn't want to schedule because I didn't feel like I needed all the work, she implied I wouldn't have enough money and that was my hesitation on getting the work done. I was humiliated!! I said that was absolutely not the problem and walked out. I was in tears by the time I left. I went to a dentist recommended by a friend where I was told my teeth were in great shape and only had one cavity that needed attention. Again, do not go here if you don't want to be belittled and conned into having unnecessary and painful procedures done. There may not be any other dentist in Germantown, but it is worth the drive to have a dentist who treats you with respect.

I really appreciated he explained everything to my daughter in a way she'd understand and he does that every visit. His staff also does the same thing. Then they just make sure I understood what he told her. We compared a few places around before going with Lunt and he was the most affordable option price wise we found. I also appreciated the different ways to pay. The other big thing is that I really appreciate he has early morning hours so the kids don't have to miss a ton of school. That is hard to find and alone would make me choose him as an orthodontist.
