I have spent the past three days in Marseille starving. Yes I picked the hotel closest to the…read moreCognitive Psychology lab because it's a business trip. Why am I starving? The hotel serves everything with gluten, things are either made of bread, rolled in bread or served with bread crumbs on top. I am gluten allergic. I break out when I eat it and it seems that some of it got in by the look of my face today. So I've decided to eat out and picked this place since it was close by and the reviews were good. Now I have to say, this place is SUPERB!!!!!! Not only did they speak English (for me it's a first this time around). The Chef, came out from the kitchen and offered to cook a meal especially for me given that nothing on the menu for the day was matching my gluten free needs. The chick peas pancakes with foie gras was divine and so is the steak with shallots. Therefore it is a 5 star performance on service, quality of food, taste, and overall experience. Definitely a great place to go to for dinner. And did I mention that the music that they are playing is totally hip. I absolutely had to Shazam it and buy a disk :) Enjoy!!!!!!

I ordered the egg (brick a l'œuf) and the ojja fruits de mer after reading other recommendations. I didn't love the ojja with seafood (felt a little off) and would order it with chicken next time. The lamb sausages (merguez) also looked very good, so perhaps I would order differently. Definitely order the house made lemonade!

Damn good waffles! Tried the Waffle Factory for the first time and loved it. I got an 'Italienne',…read morewhich was a great lunchtime choice. Only some marinara sauce could have improved the tastiness. My wife got the 'Liege Mont Blonc'. It was so good; could be a breakfast/brunch choice. Still wanting to try another food item, we split a 'Wafnurger'. Great lunch or dinner option. Be careful of the grease with the Wafburger though, it was hot and dripped onto our hands. Splitting the waffles ended up being a wonderful idea. We'll be looking to try several more waffles. Could use some condiments to spice up or improve the flavor a bit.

My husband and I agree: stumbling upon this place with our kids after a visit to the market in Aix…read morewas one of the happiest accidents of our life. We rate our lunch in the top 5 we have ever enjoyed, up there with meals in Florence, sushi in Maui, and so on. The waiter who greeted us viewed our kids, ages 9 and 12, skeptically and noted he lacked a children's menu. Nevertheless, I assured him we would be fine- our 12 year old loves escargot and I was certain we would find chicken to satisfy my daughter. Boy were we right! We started with those escargot, frogs legs, and a terrine. The frogs legs were extraordinarily tender and flavorful. The sauce around them was best eaten with a spoon. The house rose was a perfect match and on we went to some of the most perfect cod in pistou, a perfect roasted chicken with a salty (we loved it) sauce and mashed potatoes to dream about, and a quenelle I cannot describe because it seemed like Yorkshire pudding of a sort but the most amazing version I've ever encountered. We couldn't stop smiling. The waiter grew happier and danced around to some Motown, and by the end the chef came out and accepted our applause! For one in France, the bill felt like a steal too. I cannot believe we walked right in without a reservation at 1 pm on a Thursday. They deserve a Michelin star, and it's worth whatever you must do to get there. #blessed
