NothiNg like being overseas and having to go to the hospital! AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT! The place is by the old port tucked away on a quiet side street with other rather unique dining options. It's very strangely built with that Amsterdam esk spiral staircase to the bathroom upstairs that if you fall your DEFINITELY going to the hospital because you for sure broke something AND it has NO rails. Cuidado Por favor!!! My French is SO rusty, speaking French is like stepping on a rusty nail, YIKKKKES! So we tried to use google translate and my Spanish kind of helped with a tiny bit of translation as you could guess some of the ingredients but we just went with the first burger on the menu which seemed the most basic! The cheese on the burger over flowed like a beautiful water fall and it was enough to dip in half the potatoes! Wow that cheese was good! The burger was surprisingly NOT DRY even tho I asked for it well done. It just was a really good filling burger! It was PACKED when we went and PACKED when we left. And most people were French because of us ease dropping on others conversations so I think it's safe to say that it may be a local hangout. Anywho, just try it!!

They served home fries rather than French fries/pommes frites which seems incongruous since this is France and it's a burger place. But they were delicious--perfectly cooked golden potatoes. The side of Cole slaw did not look like much but it tasted good. Obviously fresh cabbage with a bit of red onion and red pepper, very light vinegar flavor, almost like it was flash pickled. Nice counterpoint. Nice outdoor seating on a side street just off the vieux port.

The food is four stars, but the there's only a couple tables downstairs, and some cramped seating upstairs. It's pretty crowded in the winter time, and difficult to get away from the cold. The place is definitely on our list of "interesting and affordable" places to go for lunch in a town that often serves up "predictable and expensive." Search it out!

Years ago I came to this restaurant and decided against trying it as it is a self service…read morerestaurant. I decided to try it this time. When you walk in they hand you a card that you use to scan for food. You go to various stations to order pasta, pizza or salads. The problem is that you have to stand in line for a salad then another line for pasta, another line for pizza and another line for drinks. The good part is that they make food as you wait and cook it while you wait. At lunch time it gets really crowded and it takes a while to get your food. I waited 20 minutes in line. I had the penne Arrabbiata. It was quite good.

However, on a Friday morning, we were able to be seated with no problem for breakfast. It definitely fills up fast as the morning goes on. You take your own menus when you come in, then go to the bar to order, and then pay before you get your own food, which was fairly unconventional. Still, the food was decent, though not amazing. My egg sandwich was good but the bacon tasted a bit odd, and I've been having bacon in France for a while now so it really was just at this place that it tasted off. My Flat White was very bitter, and it didn't come with sugar on the side as has been customary in other nearby cafés and restaurants. I'm not sure I would return, though I wouldn't be entirely opposed.
