Great wee ice cream shop right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Oban…read more My boyfriends sisters husband fancied an ice cream while out and about in Oban, so we stopped in here. He kept it simple and ordered just a plain soft serve, while the rest of us went with single cones of scooped ice cream. The boyfriend had mint chocolate chip and I went for the toffee fudge. Both delicious in their own rights, but I think next time I could go for a double. The shop is small, but there's just enough room to get in and get out. A small queue was formed because the day was super sunny and warm but the service was speedy and we got our ice creams and left. Reading Kate M.'s review, I now know that a pokey hat is a Scottish term for an ice cream cone, which is something new to me. I love learning little things like that. What a great little place.

Om Nom nom :-) we visit this shop every time we are in Oban, a pokey hat is a Scottish term for an…read moreice cream cone. My mum had a double cone of raspberry and coconut ice creams, my auntie Shirley went for coconut and pistachio ice creams, I had a single Turkish delight ice cream and the boy had white chocolate. The single cones were massive!!!!!! And the double cones were really generous. All our ice creams were served in lovely waffle cones. The ice cream is all made on the premises to,Italian recipes. I have one teeny tiny complaint and its just they had no Ferrero rocher ice cream as that one is the bomb! The coconut ice creams were delicious, they had a really good flavour and consistency, the raspberry tasted just like fresh raspberries in cream and the pistachio has a beautiful delicate flavour. My Turkish delight ice cream had chunks of frys Turkish delight in it and it was beautifully flavoured. The boys white choc ice cream was also delicately flavoured, I find a lot of white choc ice creams very sickly and the boy isn't a massive ice cream fan but we both love the white choc ice cram from here as it has a lovely subtle flavour :-) It's £2 for a single cone and £3 for a double, this is a really reasonable price for decent portions of delicious well made ice cream. If you are going to Oban you must pop the pokey hat on your visit list :-)

It's a small location with a few tables but is really setup for takeaway business. Situated right across from the Meadows, this works well. I had come out without my glasses and unfortunately they didn't have a printed menu so I was at a bit of a loss for what was on offer. It was only after I ordered a frozen yoghurt that I discovered that they have a non-dairy option which would have been a better choice. As has been said previously, they have only two flavours at a time with the option to mix. When I was in the options were plain (which I think is a standard) and banana. I opted for the plain and splurged on an oreo topping. The yoghurt was very tasty without being overly sugary - big plus. The small serving was ENORMOUS as well as being pricey (£2.75, I think?). I would have much preferred a smaller portion with a smaller price. All in all it was ok but I probably won't find myself itching to return - my recommendation would be to advertise their flavour of the day on their website or Facebook page, and to create a smaller and more wallet friendly serving size.

"I love to love, lalala.....love the ice cream that is sold by newly opened parlor Affogato!…read more The ice parlor is located on Queensferry Road not far away from the hustle and bustle of Princess Street - West End, House of Fraser. In the front of the establishment you are served various luscious flavors of ice cream and in the back you can relax and enjoy. They have very comfortable couches where you can lie back and day dream, read or chat with another. When I recently visited I got the Banoffee and Caramel Flavors. My friend ordered some fruity scoop ...... They also sell Salted Caramel, Amarena, Gingerbread, Yoghurt, Pistacchio........about 18 flavors in total. The ice cream is creamy and just the right amount of sweet. Just luscious. You get a lot of ice cream for affordable prices. 1 scoop = £2.50, and the portion is massive. They offer even two or more flavors in one scoop. Next time I will try and get an "Affogato", a mix of coffee and ice cream. I learned that Affogato means drowning, so clearly the idea behind ice cream drowning in coffee :-) Also beware! The parlor is closed on a Sunday night after 18.00, what is a shame, as it would be nice to enjoy some delicious ice cream before bed time.
