Trickett Woodworks - This is the design that was discussed (and followed up with emails). Were assured he would build the doors and frames exactly like these,

Had a $16K custom cabinet ordered after an in person meeting with Geoff…read more We had very specific details on the cabinet faces we wanted along with pictures, samples of the stain and specification of fine-grained White oak for the sides and faces of cabinets. THIS WAS STRESSED, that the MAIN reason we went with Tricket was the ASSURANCE that they would build that cabinets exactly as we discussed. From that initial meeting, several weeks later there were dimensional discussions on cabinets which were followed by on-site measurement verifications before construction. When the cabinets arrived, they were of the correct dimensions, but HE HAD NOT FOLLOWED the instructions for the door faces and built a generic Shaker style frames out of, what looks like, red oak (very large grain pattern. NOT AT ALL WHAT WE DISCUSSED. We had spent weeks getting the dimensions of drawers and cabinets properly sized for our space. AT NO TIME DURING ANY OF THE DISCUSSIONS OR EMAILS did Geoff tell us he wasn't going to build the cabinet faces to what we discussed. I had asked him prior to bringing them over to snap a few pictures for us to look at. HE NEVER DID. We didn't not find out he had made a unilateral decision to build much cheaper frames/faces until the cabinets were delivered. It is important to note the drawing were not completed for weeks and ALL of the discussion about the cabinets had been about cabinet outside dimensions and there was NEVER any discussion about a unilateral major change of the appearance. When presented with this unauthorized change, Geoff said "You signed off on the drawings so you have no recourse. Geoff NEVER admitted WHY he has made those major changes without letting us know. He initially said the frames/faces would be remade and he would take care of hinge locations and installation as part of his compensation. But he told us we would have to pay for the frames/faces and gave me the name of a company he said he used. The company had NO RECORD of this job for Trickett Wood Working and it would cost about $3700 plus installation/shipping (Geoff had told me estimated the costs to be under $1,500) to make new frames/faces correctly and ship to Trickett to cut hinge holes to match the cabinets before coming over to swap them out. I contacted Geoff and told him of this pricing discrepancy and he told me he was busy, but thought it may be cleaner for him to offer a partial refund for his mistake but he would have to get back to me after he was back. When I told him that may be a solution, but need to know what number he was thinking of but he did not respond to those entries and unilaterally decided that $850 was a suitable compensation for what would take about $5000 to correct. I found out his solution when a check showed in the mail. Geoff NEVER made any mention that approving the drawings meant we approved the cabinet faces/frame major changes he made. That was NEVER discussed, only dimensions. In none of the documentation or discussions with Geoff WAS THERE EVERY A COMMUNICATION THAT Geoff HAD MADE THIS MAJOR CHANGE IN CABINET APPEARANCE. There is a lot more to this story, Contact me for additional details.

I got a quick reply to my initial phone call, a fast quote, and a realistic time frame for the job.
