They also sell insurance here for those occasions when you've had too much Heinekens and ride right over into the canal. Fun fact: a tour guide said they fish dozens of bikes from the canals every year. My only complaint was the steering column was crooked on my rental. Not a big deal, but a little annoying and tells you a bit of something about their maintenance program. Nonetheless, a good experience for the price.

They offer bike insurance for an additional price (not included in the iAmsterdam pass) and they seemed to have a slight attitude when I declined, but overall my experience was still good. I did see someone run over a beer bottle cap at the park which popped their tires, so maybe the bike insurance isn't so bad of an idea. The employees ensure that the bike frame and seat height fits and that we know how to use the locking mechanism before we get sent out. Bikes are in decent condition, functional for the most part, but could be better.

The tour is free, but you're expected to tip the guide at the end of the tour, which is a win-win for everyone -- you don't need to pay more than you can afford, and the guide ends up making a decent amount. And because their wage depends on what people will pay them, the tour guides make an effort at being knowledgeable, entertaining, and personable. Sandeman's also offers paid tours to certain attractions. I've previously been on free Sandeman's tours in Berlin and Prague (as well as some paid tours), and the tour guides have been excellent, so I signed up for a free tour on our first full day in Amsterdam. Unfortunately it was raining at the beginning of the tour, but despite the weather, I had a good time and learned a lot about Amsterdam's history. The tour was two hours and started in Dam Square. The name of our tour guide was Pau, and she was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. If you like learning about the history of the cities you visit and don't want to spend an arm and a leg, I highly recommend Sandeman's New Europe tours. I ended up just renting one with the child seat on the back. I thought the process to get the bicycle was relatively quick, easy, and cheap! Each of their bikes have a built-in lock mechanism. If you're looking for a specific type of bike, I recommend calling ahead. Don't forget to check in on Yelp because at the time I went here, there was a a discount for checking in!

Upgraded both bikes and hotel rooms and we were super happy. Got nice lightweight roadbikes to make the pedaling easy. Holland has few hills but they do have wind so good bikes are appreciated. All the hotel rooms were nice and lovely. Gps routing worked perfectly. Almost the entire route (~200 miles) was on paved bike paths. Had to skip a day of riding because of excessive winds and they transported the bikes for us. We opted to get to the next location by bus and taxi so that we could still explore along the way. Would definitely go with them again.
