[See the added review below for http://www.corrismineexplorers.co.uk in the same mine]
Odd place next to a set of workshops, a car park and a cafe.
In the spririt of everything having to be non-useful, the quarry no longer mines slate but exibits gnomes in the shapes of King Arthur, dragons etc (the dragons look quite good) and the workshops only sell something called crafts, which are objects made very slowly and expensively.
I recommend this to anyone who's child is about to go to a religous school. Ask the child what things about the trip suggest that adults are saying untrue things. Convoluted language, ritualistic repatition, a certain tone of voice, a failed sense of style and good taste, and vague claims of oldness are all good things for a child to learn to spot before assessing prayers hyms and sermons.

In 2012 I was quoted
Adult: £7.90 Children: £5.25 (ages 4 to 15) Senior: £7.10
The number of staff outnumbered the number of visitors on my trip, so I expect there's a subsidy for this paid out of our pensions and government service budgets as well.
If there's another mine where you can go and learn to cut a bit of slate I'd be interested to know!

Thanks to someone for this link to a very different mine tour in the same place, so I've added it here & look forward to booking a trip some time.

Corris Mine Explorers is another attraction / activity which starts from the Corris Craft Centre. On this trip you join one of Wales' top mine explorers and enter a part of the old slate mine which is on a higher level that the disused mine used for the Labyrinth adventure.
This part of the mine remains virtually untouched since the day the miners left in the early 1970s. As you explore (kitted up with cap lamp, helmets and safety ropes) you will see the old mining equipment, tools, candles and more. Stories of life in the mine spill out during the trip which almost bring it to life. The guide is really very knowledgeable and good at what he does.
There is a 2 hour Mine Discovery trip and a Half Day Mine Expedition.
In addition there is a 1 hour Taster Trip which as the name suggests, is just a taster of what the other trips involve.
