It started off well with colourful displays which made good backgrounds for photos! - and of course lots of animals in tanks to look at and discover all sorts about. There was also a tank which was more open, where they sometimes held demonstrations and allowed the children to pet the stingrays and smaller sharks etc. But then it ended rather abruptly. We came out the other side into a gift shop, just when we were really getting into it... and after the gift shop was the exit! Overall quite disappointing for the prices. We only bought a shot glass as a souvenir because everything was rather overpriced.

The Snowdon railway begins from inside Parc Padarn, and there is a good selection of amenities for its many visitors: 2 cafes are near the railway inside the park, with 2 more located just on the outside (1 is in the Electric Mountain visitor centre), toilets are available in the park also, and there is a scattering of shops such as gift shops, shops selling walking clothes, a shop selling hand-made things from slate such as door plates. There's a lot to do for everyone at Parc Padarn. There are 5 official walkways, which are colour-coded and vary in difficulty from a short flat walk accessible to wheelchair users, to a more advanced 5 mile walk around the lake with some steep climbs. You're advised not to stray from the walkways. On the lake there's opportunities to scuba dive, sail a dinghy or kayak, or to sail a remote control boat. There's a few childrens' play areas which are always fairly busy and look well-equipped, and there's a tree top adenture activitiy. In the main entrence to Parc Padarn there's a museum, which is free to enter, with several shows and displays of the old slate quarry workings, as well as a few old-fashioned houses to peek into. I love going here and probably visit a couple of times a week, even throughout the winter.

Plenty of parking at the location in Penrhyn quarry where you get kitted out in all the necessary safety gear and a safety talk. From there you walk to the little zipper to build your confidence for the big zip line! You then get into one of their big trucks and travel up the bumpy road to the top and all whilst getting a great view and a talk of the area. You arrive and if it is raining there is a hut at the top where you can wait before being called out. They strap you in and make all the safety checks, count you down if racing against someone and away you go on the longest zip line in Europe and getting to speeds of 100mph plus! You travel for a few seconds before you go over the edge and the entire quarry is beneath you, truly exhilarating! Definitely recommend it and maybe check out there other activities whilst you're up there! North Wales is really spectacular!!

Especially when you look through the floor/net to see the floor of the cavern a long long way down. The only thing missing was some music to jump to. This is the only one of its kind in the world apparently so pretty special. It's a really hard workout too, even the regular exercisers needed a few sit downs! You keep getting up again though as it's so much fun! We kept falling over all the time as it's quite hard to keep your balance, I don't know how some people were playing rugby! Helmets and boiler suit were a good idea although it all got a bit sweaty. I went with a group of 10 and only 1 person didn't enjoy it, so pretty good odds. The person that didn't like it has a real fear of heights and didn't really enjoy the bouncing much either. I do have a bit of a fear of heights too and am also slightly claustrophobic but I definitely enjoyed it. I did struggle a bit with the netting slides but once done they're fine :) One of my friends did say though that some people were coming down the climbing up chutes as that's the only option apart from the slides to get back back down. A less daunting third option would be good please!

For £25 you get an hour's trampolining, bouncing from cavern to cavern, climbing up ladders and snaking down tubular slides from level to level. Make sure you have trainers on and some light clothing too, as you'll get so hot with all the bouncing about. Safety helmets (and attractive hairnets) are compulsory and the safety briefing is pretty comprehensive too. The age range in there is brilliant - grandparents bouncing alongside kids. If you want to make a day of it, there's plenty of other activities on site too - from Europe's tallest zip wire, to a quarry explorer 4x4 trip. Café on site too - predictably on the pricey side but clean and roomy. Definitely worth a visit!

All safety equipment is provided and staff are on hand to make sure that everything is OK. Ropeworks is basically a variety of aerial challenges from death-slides to abseiling, high ropes to monkey bars. There's no theming here and, to be honest, it's a bit of a disappointment. If you've ever done a go Ape! course then this will seem like a very poor relation. It's simply not big enough and you can't escape the feeling that it's just a bunch of telegraph poles and towers situated next to a kiddie park. Probably best suited to younger teens and those who have a bit of a fear of heights - people for whom Go Ape! would be too much!

When you arrive you are given all the safety equipment and shown how to put it on. This includes harnesses, hard hats and so on. They reccommend that you wear jeans, and not shorts. You are in a group of about half a dozen people with an instructor who guides you round the course. The first challenge we did was to climb a telegraph pole, which had hand/feet holds up the sides. Your harness is clipped on and whilst you could loose your footing you can't actually fall! On the top was a small platform, maybe two feet square. Once standing on the platform (admiring the stunning view of the mountains and sea if you're not too scared to look down!), there is a trapeze bar, this slides so that it is just out of reach and you have to jump off the platform to grab the trapeze. I missed but still felt a great sense of achievement. You are then lowered down in the harness, which is a lot more comfortable than it looks. Then we had a go on the G3 swing. This is similar to a normal kids swing at the park, except that 3 of you sit on it side by side, and your harness is clipped on. Then it's raised up to the top of the telegraph pole height, and one of you pulls a cord which allows it to swing. It's a huge adrenaline rush and a little sad when it finally comes to rest a the bottom. Finally we went up the climbing wall, to have a go at the assault course in the air. This is where I chickened out. Looking back, with a bit more encouragement from the instructor I could have done the course and felt much more of a sense of achievement. You walk round on ropes, swing across monkey bars and similar in a circle, then its down on a death slide. Back down on the ground we all received certificates to mark our achievements. The instructor was very friendly and soon built up a team spirit within our little group. I understand that the course is available for companies doing team building exercises, schools and more. At £20 for two hours it is more expensive than other tourist attractions but well worth this for the safety, expertise and sense of achievement. There isn't a souvenier shop and I don't thnk that they are open in the evenings.
