Kim's Nails & Salon - Christmas nails - Nail Salons Near Me - Cobourg, Ontario

The Cobourg salon is absolutely filthy & should be shut down. Techs do NOT wash their own hands between customers & ALL of them use the exact same emery boards and unsanitized tools from one client to the next. They NEVER autoclave tools or use freshly sanitized towels for each client. The exact same towel sits on each manicure table under each client's hands. The manicure stations are NEVER cleaned between each customer. A customer leaves and the nail tech (including the owner Kim) immediately directs another to sit at the station as the previous client is being cashed out. The manicure/pedicure instruments are all thrown in a drawer at each manicure station after use instead of being held out separately for sanitation. The dremel tool and sanding paper is always filled with residue from the manicures of previous clients. The salon itself is truly filthy. They sometimes skim over the floor with a broom and a damp mop. The staff are also VERY rude and are constantly chatting in Vietnamese. It gives the uncomfortable feeling that you and other clients are being gossiped about or criticized in our own presence. Even worse KIM is very dishonest. She charged a higher price at checkout even though I had asked the price in advance!! When questioned, she said that she gave a different service - something that I had NOT asked for nor did she mention before she did it, nor was there any discernible evidence that something different had taken place. Regardless, changing to a different service without client approval is totally dishonest! I do not kid myself though, as frankly she was just flat out LYING! If you want to be ripped off in a dirty environment and be gossiped about in your presence, this place is for you! The Ontario Gov't staffer who inspects this filthy shop and gives them a pass should absolutely be fired! Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere... unless you enjoy risking getting an infection that you will not only pay for but be overcharged for. Anyone giving them a high rating have to be fake customers! This place is a filthy dump!!! read more

great work and amazing staff very friendly, would recommend to anyone. good price & good work.

The person who gave me my manicure was good but when prepping my nails she kind of started to hurt my skin because my nails were really short but that was my fault since I didn't really alert her. She was pretty nice and wasn't so harsh, but my sister got the opposite treatment, the person who was removing her nail polish was very rude and harsh, she only got off a few things off her nails and got annoyed by her because my sister was asking her to do some stuff politely and ended up leaving her, she treated the other clients more politely than my sister for some reason, my sister thinks it's race discrimination and that they were treating the white customers nicer as we're from Central Asia, but I myself believe that they treat the clients who made an appointment nicer. I don't think we're ever going here again. I might've made some mistakes but that's what we know. read more

My friend and I had a pedicure & manicure here yesterday. I won't be back. The salon is not very clean, the pedicure sink wasn't cleaned from the previous client before I sat down and it didn't seem to be working - it was lined with a plastic bag, there were no jets and the water was tepid. The pedicure and manicure seemed to be ok, although today my polish is peeling off. When I was finished, the clerk asked if I wanted to pay by debit or cash. I had no cash so I said I would use my debit card. Then she told me that I couldn't pay by debit and instructed me to walk to the bank to withdraw cash to pay her. After paying a fee at a debit machine that wasn't where I bank and paying for the salon services, I left...and I won't return. read more

I have had a pedicure from Britney and a set done by Peter and they were both fantastic, very friendly and so nice. Store seems a little unorganized and the owner gets frazzled very easily and over books. I was in with a friend and we had booked appointments and still had to wait because they had taken walk-ins. They all (except one) speak another language which I know is usual, but it is a little bit rude when all they ignore you and have their own conversation. It is uncomfortable. read more

Twice I have had a pedicure in this salon, each time by different workers and I was satisfied both times. My comfort was considered with the massage elements in the chair and with the temperature of the water. Special and sufficient attention was paid to the cuticles, callouses and nail trimmings. The time under the infrared lamp was sufficient to ensure the polish was set properly. For sure I will become a regular customer. read more
