The great thing about this shop is the fact that you can design your own cake and then they will make it for you. And based on what I saw on display, there is no arguing that Very Vegetarian cakes have high standards. You can visit the shop's website to have a look at some of the birthday and wedding cakes that have been produced. I was highly impressed just by looking at the online images. Staff are fantastic with their customers and they were very friendly with me when I asked them some questions. It's always nice to find a good local supplier that means you can bypass the supermarket and grab something freshly and locally made with good quality ingredients. Although you pay a little more, the better tastier food, an alternative to the big supermarkets, and you know that your supporting a local grocer's using local sourced ingredients, its a win win all round. Set into three categories, Juice mixes, Keep it simple and super juices there is something for any mood you might find yourself in. Along with the protein balls which are so full of goodness really gives Frais is identity. But that's not all.. they even provide "Bulletproof coffee" I won't tell you about that so you can get a little surprise when you visit but wow! Frais mention that they are gluten free but are very subtle about it and you wouldn't even notice certain wheaty items missing from the menu. However this was a massive pull for me being wheat intolerant. What I really liked about Frais was that it is very obviously health orientated. Even having a "healthy living club" and juicing evenings. I was really impressed with this as it's what makes Frais so different to everything else out there. Foods and drinks costs where something that both myself and friend were delighted with. But is not intrusive, patronising or preachy at all. I have been to many places who do all these things unfortunately and this was a refreshing change! The menu is limited which at the time I wasn't taken with. But after having my lunch of a delicious tofu salad, I understand why. Being able to focus on a few high quality meals is much more important and there is nothing wrong with that. Salads and wraps were on offer at a ridiculously low £2.25 bearing in the mind the huge amount of combinations and choice I could have had. Soups, Salads and Sandwiches are currently on the menu and also available for take away. A fantastic lunch choice I would think. I am looking forward to seeing how this expands in the future for a relatively new business. Once in the Selfridges food hall, head towards to back and you'll see the cake counter (the cupcakes always look delicious!). English Rose is situated at the left end of the counter. You'll see piles of delicate pastel coloured macaroons in all sorts of delicious flavours. I highly recommend the salted caramel and rose. You can get a box of 6 for £5.00 - that is really good value as macaroon prices go! The first time I visited, the sales assistant asked me the colour order I wanted my macaroons arranged in. It was a nice touch, though they didn't ask on my second visit. The macaroons are really good. They have mastered the balance between chewy and crispy and the fillings are rich, creamy and flavoursome. My only criticism would be that some of the macaroons aren't 100% perfect appearance wise - I've had a couple of cracked ones.

I wasn't sure what soft serve was so i asked the waiter to explain himself and he just kept saying its soft serve. i had no idea what it was. Then my friend pointed out its like a Mr Whippy van style ice -cream. Why couldn't he just say that? So i chose frozen yogurt. The smoothie was nice but i would prefer to have it with our any frozen yogurt or soft serve. There is a lot of choice with savoury options, a small selection of cakes, lots of different toppings for the pancakes, crepes and waffles. Price wise i think its very expensive. We had 1 Crepe, a small black coffee and smoothie for £14.00. Even for Harborne that is slightly too high, especially when this is aimed more at parents with children. After a long look at the selection (which is rather generous to say the least), I opted to go for the (now) legendary "Hello Kitty" mixed with cola millions flavour in a medium tub (£3.40). The gelato is lovely. Light, fluffy and packed full of flavour - it dances on the palate (even when it's long gone). I didn't feel aggrieved at the price for two scoops at all (and if I had, had more of an appetite might have opted for 3). The staff were friendly and helpful from the moment I walked in. I was offered tasters of different flavours to try before I chose and you could sense that they love their jobs (which is important, especially in the service industry).
