I would NOT recommend this "doctor" to ANYONE. He is inept, unprofessional and a suspected misogynist. He lacks in communication skills and provided me with the wrong Rx, which he did not correct.
I visited Mr. Kimmich in the spring of 2014 for a contacts exam, as well as an eyeglass exam. At that time, I ordered new gas permeable lenses from him, based off the new Rx, and have been wearing them since. In December, an online glasses provider had a "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" Sale, so I used my current glasses Rx to order three pair of glasses.
When the glasses arrived, the Rx was WAY OFF. The glasses were so weak, they were similar to what I wore in middle school. The online company checked the Rx of the glasses vs. the Rx from Mr. Kimmich, and they were the same. Thus, Mr. Kimmich had given me the wrong Rx.
I called his office & let them know what had happened. His (very nice) office staff called me back, saying Mr. Kimmich agreed the Rx did not look right, and to come back in free-of-charge. I went back to his office, where he proceeded to lecture me for 5 minutes, stating it had been 8 months since my exam (and implying my eyes had changed during that time). This theory is easily laid to rest by the fact my contact Rx is still accurate. Additionally, the National Standard is that a vision Rx is "good" for 1 year. Then, he stated that switching between gas permeables and glasses, could affect my eye shape, and *that* was the issue. While he is correct that GP's do, indeed, alter one's eye shape & vision, this theory is easily disputed by the fact I can switch between my current contacts and an 8 year old pair of glasses (purchased from him) with no vision issues, whatsoever. When I tried to explain these points to him, he LITERALLY said, "SHUUUUUUUSH! I'm asking the questions, here."
He never corrected HIS error, and did not provide me with an accurate glasses prescription (which I had already paid for). He also never compensated me for the three pair of glasses I ordered with the WRONG prescription he had given me. Nor did he even apologize for the inconvenience.
While he may have been a competent optometrist at some point, he is currently a negligent, rude, unprofessional & tired old man, who clearly needs to retire. This point is supported by the fact he actually has a bed behind a screen in his exam room, where he lays down for naps at lunch time.
Mr. Kimmich speaks down to women in a horrible, disgusting way. He is abrasive and harsh and I would not recommend him to my worst enemy. read more
