The puppy was found injured, and the organization does an incredible job making sure dogs get the proper care from veteranians and caretakers alike. They scheduled a surgery for our foster dog within the month, and gave us detailed instructions on how to take care of him post operation. The organization is guided by animal behaviorists who offer numerous Zoom session classes on how to train dogs of any age. To get dogs adopted, Agape takes great care making sure dogs are matched across several categories to adoring homes. Everything this organization does is thorough and thoughtful, ensuring dogs are properly cared for. If you're hoping to adopt a dog or help foster one, this is an excellent organization to work with!

This month, they helped Animal Rescue Corps with Operation unbridled Spirit and saved a bunch of puppy mills dogs! Help them out! They make fostering really a great experience and are looking for year-round fosters, temporary/ short term fosters (for long term fosters who go on vacation, etc), and emergency fosters for cases of hoarding or puppy mill closures. They also do a bunch of events to fundraise like the upcoming Agape Animal Ball on October 19th!

As middle Tennessee's only volunteer center, HON serves as the volunteer staffing organization for so many charities who need the help. Everyone knows that charities can't run without (1) money and (2) volunteers. Every September, thousands of HON volunteers descend on Metro Nashville Schools to pour hundreds of thousands of dollar's worth of time into doing much needed maintenance to the system facilities. In the horrific flood of 2010, HON stepped up as the hero organization, providing relief in almost every facet. Full disclosure, I am on the board. I serve on the board because I believe it in so much. HON is financially sound and run like a well-oiled machine by its staff and executive team. If you're a volunteer, just log in to the website and enter the system. You'll be amazed by the opportunities, training and diversity of events. Go ahead...you might just change your life while changing someone else's!

I was given all the information I needed to comply with their very efficient process. It was my first visit to this facility. I have know it for years but was under a certain idea that it was just for low income individuals or feral animals. I had an opportunity to see my sweet friend and the director of the facility and she informed me that that is a common misconception. She said they take all folks and most animals. There are a few dog type they don't spay or neuter. They did an exceptionally wonderful job with my asshole cat. She would not wear the cone or a sleeve over the surgery. So, I just had to watch her and she did great. The wound healed great. She is still an asshole but a smidge calmer. I actually was not charged anything due to the fact that I am on Medicare, so it was a great value to me. My plan is to donate to them through their wish list/amazon. I can't believe how much coordination it takes for all the food and medication for the dogs. The people who work here and volunteer here are doing great work for these older pups. Many of the dogs are bonded and must be forever fostered together. Any dogs that are fostered will have medical and prescription food costs covered. Grooming as well! They have a cute gift shop in the front lobby. They accept bed and blanket donations and have a wishlist online. You can set your Amazon Smile to donate to them too. This was the only Goodwill location I had a chance to visit while in Nashville, so I'm not sure if this is standard in terms of size or format, but the store feels a bit smaller than a typical Goodwill format. Upon entering you are immediately confronted by clothing racks with the majority of the household and bulk items located in the back corner of the store. My walk-through of most of the sections didn't really identify much in terms of deals. The men's clothing section, especially the suits and pants had so many clothes on the racks that it was impossible in some cases to separate them in order to check them out. I even broke one or two hangers trying to pull a garment off the rack that I wanted to check out. I did buy a couple of books and a couple of cool T-shirts for my nephew, but for the most part, this probably wouldn't be a regular stop for me.

They also employ local former inmates who are reintegrating into the community, and these guys need all the help they can get, so this is a good aspect of patronizing the store. The building is new and there is plenty of parking. It is conveniently located, although the hours are a touch limited and vary from day to day. The store employees are friendly and accommodating. On one occasion I returned an item to exchange for one that would fit my needs and the manager approved the exchange despite a store policy that would have otherwise prohibited it. This seems like common sense but, well, it's not the thing you can just expect anymore. I did not give the store a five-star rating because the pricing on many of their items is comparable to new and/or higher quality items. I think the store and the brand would be better served by a pricing policy that rewarded patrons rather than offering a 'hit or miss' gambler's philosophy.
