Unclean, strong smell of syrup. Had to air out opening all windows which had no blinds. We were creeped out because we couldn't tell who was living there or a customer. Felt a bit of voyeurism takes place as no blinds, mirrors placed weird and the view went right to a persons house. Drunk guests were creeping around and we had to call the cops. The just never responded or interacted except when we pulled up. Wrong Wi-Fi password written. Missing amenities, continuously stated dosent provide charcoal when it was listed. Need updating their instructions. Dirty dishes, garbage in our fire pit (fire pit and grill were not on property as stated. ) towels looked used, unclean. Tractors starting at 8am and junky boats cluttering property. Host was agressive and rude. She seems to be agressive with any criticism. Just accused us of false things, basically trashing the place which I've never done in my life. She accused someone of urinating in the bed! Most insulting interaction I've had. She is going to drive that business in the ground that already lacked professionalism. Mom and dad must be proud. Do not recommend. Never have I had this experience at an air bnb. read more

My friends and I just completed a six (originally five) day stay, beginning in the Hiawatha cabin, and moving to the Huron for the last night. The Hiawatha is a cozy two bedroom with the perfect access to the water and communal areas. The cabins are very clean, and well appointed, with microwaves, full-sized refrigerators, and a stove with oven. The Hiawatha is perfect for a landing spot from those long days of sightseeing. We decided to extend our stay by a day, and the gracious host, Sarah, was more than accommodating, offering to move us to another cabin for the final night, as ours was already booked. The Huron is a spacious three bedroom, with two queens and two twins, and a shower/bath combo. Newer construction, and everything the Hiawatha has, but more space for those larger groups. However, you don't come to Kimar to stay in your cabin, and the lakeshore views do not disappoint. Morning sunrises, and the activity of an active charter fishing operation provide the vibe that will calm the most anxious of souls. Sarah and Chris, the hosts, are third generation Kimar, and the added experiences they provides are what makes Kimar so special. They are very welcoming, and take the time to make sure everyone from young to old have a unique and memorable experience to take home with them. Do your research before you book, because the beaches here are for rock hounds, not sunbathers. The weather was cool, and my traveling companions had not thought about 55 degree nights when they packed clothing. My best experiences were found on the dock, in front of the campfire meeting new friends, and searching for beach treasures and Yooperlites. I hesitate to post any of this, because I want to keep this hidden gem all to myself. Thank you, Kimar family and friends, for making this one of the most memorable vacations ever! read more

Jim, Dave,Kay, Laurie and Wayne here.... Justin took us out on an unbelievably terrific fishing extravaganza on June 4th. This experience was rewarded with a "limit" catch for all of us plus the most pleasant explanation to all of our questions about the boat, the tackle and techniques for success. The display board showing our success says it all. Can't say enough about the entire management and staff from start to trips end. This outfit is the best you could ever ask for. Strongly recommend Kimer's. Thank you, again Justin, for a memorable day. read more

We were lucky to find this place. Having never been to Michigan, not to mention the Upper Peninsula on Lake Superior, we weren't sure what to expect. The Ontario cabin (2 bdrm) was very clean - bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and living room. Bedrooms have plenty of pillows and blankets. Bathrooms come with two towels and some wash cloths. The kitchen has an oven, stove, microwave, coffee pot, full refrigerator/freezer, silverware, cups/coffee cups, knives, pots, pans and cookie sheets. The living room has a couch and chair along with satellite tv with all the usual satellite channels. This is a family run place, the culture is warm and welcoming, and everyone staying at this resort was exceptionally nice. We did not get out on the lake, but there are fishing boats with fishing guides that take guests out onto Lake Superior to do some fishing (add'l cost I assume). Looked like there were canoes and kayaks but ask to be sure. The location of the resort is between Munising and Marquette. Check-out Pictured Rocks near Munising and Presque Isle Park in Marquette. There is a gift shop with unique pictures, rocks, candles, and Kimar Resort shirts, hats, and sweatshirts. We are excited to go back and cannot imagine staying anywhere else. 10/10 only because I cannot give it a higher rating. read more

This place is a hidden gem. We stayed in the lake house right on Lake Superior. The cabin was very clean and well stocked. If anything is needed the Kimar's will respond and accommodate any way they can. The view is amazing, the shoreline so pretty, and the community screened porch has a big grill for everyone's use, tables and an outdoor deck. The guys were unable to get their fishing trip in because of weather, but one of the boat captains shared the day's fresh catch of Canadian salmon with us. Will stay here again if we get the opportunity. This is a friendly family place with outstanding hospitality. If you are staying near Munising or Marquette forego the hotels and stay at Kimar's. Dave, Chris and Sarah are great hosts. read more

Awful! It is like a junkyard. Cabins are on top of each other. Website is deceiving. There is no beach.. Website says there is. A huge bulldozer was parked right by the cabins. Chris, one of the owners, was rude and I should have realized that as a early warning sign. We asked for our money back (before we stayed) and Chris gave us a hard time. She said she could give us half. I said no way and after reminding her of her false advertisement, she could agree to a refund minus a $25 processing fee. A good business would have given us all of our money back. Terrible place. read more

We thought this place was awesome. Grant it we were there in the middle of the week so it was quiet and it was just two of us. Everyone that worked there was nice to us. The cabins are close but we weren't spending too much time at the cabin, why would you with all the sightseeing. There is a lot of stuff in the yard, but it's boats and boat parts, that's what they do! It was exactly what we expected for a great price. We enjoy giving business to local places. We found out that the resort had been there since the 40's and has been run by 3 generations. We went charter fishing and David was the guide he was awesome. Very friendly, knowledgeable and lots of fun! We will be trying to make our way back! Thanks for a great time! read more

We rented a cabin at Kimar's Resort this past weekend. When we arrived, the place looked nothing like the pictures. There was junk everywhere. The place was very run down and very cluttered. We're not ones to complain, so we weren't going to say anything and just be happy that we had a great time kayaking down the Autrain River. Our problem was with the owners. They were extremely rude to some of the people in our group and even went as far to insult their looks and intelligence on two different occasions. At 11:30, our group was in our cabin with some music on while we were playing cards. The music was not blaring and we were not being overly loud or obnoxious. The owner's wife came to the front door and told us that we had better turn the music off and be quiet or "it wouldn't be pretty!" They were extremely rude throughout our whole experience. The water was gorgeous and it was a great view, unfortunately the other surroundings and the "hospitality" took away from that. read more

If you hit the weather to your liking, this is an incredibly pretty location. Great fishing, accommodations, and extremely helpful host and crew. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets on Lake Superior, and equally pretty across the highway on Deer Lake. Very reasonable rates for such excellent accommodations. You can literally walk out of your cabin and board one of Kimar's charter fishing boats. read more

Most cabins are actually a bit away from the water front so have limited if any view. The one that is water front is more of a mobile home than a cabin. Cabins are very clean. Property is a bit worn down...boats in various stages of disrepair throughout and a very worn down dirty kids area. Staff is very friendly and responsive read more

Beautiful location! Cabins are part of a resort so they are near each other, but the owners and renters are friendly. It was a great chance to meet new peiole around the campfire. If you are down to earth, like fishing and nature, this is the place for you! read more
