If you are tired of going to the "other guys" picking through junk lumber that is warped and has other defects, loading on cart and reloading into to your truck then then go ahead make your day. But, I can go to Jonesville Lumber, place my order and then get loaded in the same time it takes to figure out good lumber from bad lumber at the other guys storeS. There was plenty of merchandise, but it was spread out so you could actually see things. The staff was friendly and helpful but not pushy when I was there last week. The merchandise was properly priced for the items I looked at and ended up purchasing. Not underpriced, but not over-priced either. There was a varied selection, which was also nice. I thoroughly enjoyed going through the entire space and found more than one thing on my list, as well as some that I didn't know were on my list until I saw them!

I am glad to see that Tri State Bait and Tackle has stood the test of time and is still going strong. I stopped here last year multiple times for bait and tackle. TSBT is located south of the 120/69 interchange and the outlet malls. Head south down the road like you are going to Pokagon and look to the west about halfway there and you won't miss it. The building is not huge, but it is all fishing, all the time. They have great prices on bait, tackle is decently priced, and they have some decent sales. Over the last year I have purchased two reels, a new rod, an anchor mount for my john boat, hooks, swivels, fishing line, and some split shots from TSBT as well as crickets, red worms, night crawlers a dozen plus times. I have always had fast, friendly, and attentive service when visiting the store. The staff is knowledgable and gives great advice. No problem recommeding Tri State Bait and Tackle to anyone living in Angola, Fremont, the surrounding lakes, or travelling across the tristate area in search of their next great catch.

Driving east on I-80, we started seeing fireworks stand signs shortly before the merge with the…read moreIndiana Tollway. My 12 year old got excited but we missed the turn and I thought we were done... till we ended up spending the night in Fremont which has a Shelton location. Their sign said was the world's largest fireworks store and I have no basis for comparison, but I would not want to be in there if someone lit a cigarette. We got a boxed assortment for $55 or so and added some bottle rockets and a big rocket, then the proprietress threw in a "grand finale" which was one of the cake type displays with multiple holes and a fuse that makes them go off in sequence. Last night, hopefully safe in the sand on a lake in upstate NY, we finally shot them off. There was only one semi-dud in 20 or so items. The favorites were the mortars... little balls with long fuses that you shoot out of a tube to get a nice display at about 30 feet... and the various cake types. The big rocket was perfect to start it all. Fountain types were the least impressive. There were no instructions and I'd never done this before so I peeled back the cellophane and exposed the fuses for better burning, maybe this contributed to the high success ratio. Much enjoyment by the assembled children and adults and with cautious adult lighting I did not feel unsafe. A friend from Jersey asked me how much I'd paid and told me he would pay over $100 for the same assortment going across the border into PA. So go to eastern Indiana, assuming you have some other reason to do so. (Maybe to visit the RV Hall of Fame which is just down the road in Elkhart?)
