Made an appointment a few days prior and there were several slots open - day of, it was practically booked up! So book ahead. Little ones' haircuts take 20 minutes and hair is only sprayed wet. They have cute little cars to sit in, coco melon on repeat (ha!) and tons of toys for sale. The little one before ours was crying and everyone was so patient and accommodating. First haircut gets a lock of hair and certificate. Buy 10, get 1 free punch card too! I'm a sucker for those :) They have a theatre and area for private parties too. Will be back thanks! read more

We held our son's very first birthday party at Kidville UWS, and it was phenomenal! They took care of literally everything and were accommodating when we requested 3rd party vendors, bringing drinks or food, customizing our theme, etc. many special thanks to leader Rachel who was kind and attentive the whole time. We did have a bit of a mishap mid party, but all leaders were quick to address and thankfully our guests weren't harmed and the party overall wasn't affected. Will always recommend and hope to attend more events and programs soon! read more

Strange behavior from "mayor" Nikki who sent me passive aggressive emails for apparently showing too much interest in the facilities by submitting the inquiry form too many times and emailing about stopping by to take a tour. Maybe she was mad I missed her phone call while I was at work? Who knows, very very weird. I can only imagine that behavior trickles downward and I did not feel comfortable leaving my toddler alone here for preschool prep. read more

My son has come here several times for a haircut. I've traveled from the Bronx to get here which isn't as convenient unless by car because the service is great. Very kid friendly and the staff is so nice. My son hated haircuts and would come here excited and never cry. They also listened to what i wanted his haircut to look like. My little one just had her first haircut, here, and has a blast. She's almost 4, and has religiously refused to get one until now. Sitting on those cute cars (she got a Cinquecento) while watching TV did the trick. Iris was welcoming and sweet, and did a great job. Gloria J is the the worst stylist you can ever find. If you see her name, run and take your kid with you. She isn't interested in her job and is also extremely unprofessional. She rushed my sons haircut since she had to 'eat her lunch' is what we were told. My son is 1 and he was crying his eyes out while Gloria did nothing and just watched while trying to cut his hair while he bawled. She did not wash her hands, nor used sanitizer before she started and also did not clean him after! Unbelievable. This place isn't one I would recommend unless you want a terrible experience or just want to spoil your day in general. read more

I highly recommend coming here! We made an haircut appointment online. Sign up page was super easy to use. We came on a Saturday morning so there was plenty of parking on the side street. The receptionist, Leona, was friendly and welcoming. It was our first time here so she showed us the two wonderful playrooms. We had a salon appointment for our little one with Gloria. It wasn't his first haircut but his first haircut with an electric trimmer. She allowed him to sit in mommy's lap and was very patient as our son gradually got used to the sound. This is well overdue! We have been back 4x since my last review, each time only booking with Mrs. Gloria. She is the BEST and is the only person I trust to cut my son's (6.5 yr old) hair, she knows his curls. We come in twice a year for a cut and Mrs. Gloria always remembers scissors only - she really is awesome! Leona (sp) at reception is the best greeter and host I've seen at this location in our almost 4 years of visits. She's warm and informative. Although, my son is too big for the play space, she offered every parent of a little one access/ tour while they waited, something I've never seen. Kidville on the Upper West Side helped to make my daughter Tamiya Jolie's 6th birthday party the best Unicorn Party ever!!! Patricia, Megan and the entire staff were so warm welcoming and excited for my daughter's party from the very beginning until the day of the party. They took care of absolutely everything and the attention to detail was amazing. Although it was indoors, everyone wore mask and we were safe the entire time. From the bouncy house, to the Zipline to the Dance Party, the kids were engaged the entire time. The parents, kids and most of all the birthday girl were so excited. When I dropped her cousin at home, her mom texted me and said "she is sooooo excited about her gift bag and the party. She said I had the best time of my life!!!" And I would have to agree with her. I sent my 3 year old son to get a haircut and he is ... not the best client. He basically freaked out and my babysitter wasn't paying a lot of attention and he came home with an uneven cut but as soon as I called they offered me a free touch up with a different stylist. We came today and had a fabulous experience with our overly dramatic toddler. Albana was the haircutter and apparently is only there on Sundays but she kept a calm and joyful environment among the chaos. This place is awesome! I brought my 8 month old in for his first haircut. I had no idea what to expect and if it was even possible to trim an infants hair. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly attentive and helpful. I joked to my husband that I'm not sure how one could be that peppy and great with children so early on a Sunday morning. We've been attending classes at Kidville USW since my daughter was about 6 months old. She's 17 months now. We've had nothing but great experiences. Excellent classes, excellent staff, the facility is clean and bright. The staff is consistent and remember people's names. Its always welcoming and my daughter loves attending. Jenny, the director, keeps things interesting and there's always fun programs to attend. They are also very responsive, always answering questions I have very quickly via email, providing information on other resources for new moms and in general functioning like a community center and extended family. We have taken Rockin Railroad, participated in Camp Kidville and attend Open Gym often, especially in the colder months. Its very well managed. So happy we found them and could not recommend more. read more

My kids have done Kidville classes at the UWS location for the past 3 years. The facility is clean and the instructors attentive. Some of our favorite classes are Big Muscle gym (the tumbl track is fun!) and Messy Art (they get to paint on the walls). We've also been to many birthday parties at Kidville and always had a good time (kids + grownups)! The activities are always age appropriate and fun. My kids are always excited to go to one! Goodie bags include high quality Melissa + Doug products. They also get haircuts from Christine there - my baby cried once during a haircut and she was very accommodating. We've continued going and he now asks when he can sit on the antique car for his haircut. My only gripe is that I wish they had more stroller space like the old location. Hello, my 18 month old daughter and I went to Kidville recently. We stopped by as a walk in. The staff was super helpful, COVID safe and directed me to some classes we could take. It happened to be a Saturday, so we signed up for Open Playspace! It was a blast with fun music, clean and sanitized gym, and another room with magnatiles, musical instruments etc. We will definitely be returning. read more

We have been avid fans of Kidville uws for over 2 years! We have been going almost everyday since my oldest was 18 months and now his baby sister has taken over. The teachers are so nurturing and engaging my son was able to overcome separation anxiety at KVU! He still remembers them a year later! We love their rocking railroad band (seriously the best!) and even had them perform at my daughters first birthday party. We love the creativity behind the art classes and my son loves the obstacle courses in the big muscle gym. We even go there for haircuts! I don't usually write negative reviews but do it in the spirit of constructive criticism. The staff was friendly and welcoming, but when I said my 17-month old (there for his first haircut) might need to walk around for a few minutes to get comfortable, I was told they had a 2 pm coming in after us and hurried us along. The little cars where the kids sit were not adequately cleaned so there was a lot of hair inside them. My kid ended up sitting on my lap for the cut. The stylist went as quickly as she could with my kid's limited ability to sit still, but the haircut was rough on the sides (like a shelf of hair instead of a little fade). The first haircut certificate is about as substantial as a post-it, and the lock of hair they saved for me was wet, so within a day it got moldy in the little plastic bag. I had higher hopes for the first haircut and think Kidville could improve on these fronts. read more

Reviewing for haircuts: two fantastic experiences! My son has had 3 haircuts - 2 at Kidville and 1 at a regular salon. He had a great time at both Kidville appointments but a terrible time at the regular salon (most likely because of the constant blow drying sound). At Kidville, he got to sit in a car, watch TV, read books, and play with toys while Albana and Christine cut his hair. They were so friendly and patient with my son (age 15 months the first time and age 18 months the second time). And his hair looks great! We will be back! read more

Late to review, but thought I would give my 2c after moving to Long Island. I was hesitant to sign up for classes due to the cost, but took the plunge and put my daughter in Big Messy Art and Rockin Railroad. We missed so many classes due to travel that my daughter was basically a regular in the Big Muscle Gym as well. I can't speak more highly of the art and gym teachers. They were so engaging with the kids and adults, alike. We moved to Long Island in the spring and I immediately sought our closest Kidville location. The classes out here are a fraction of the cost, but you get what you pay for. I'd honestly rather pay more for the instructors on the UWS. We love suburbia, but miss our friends at Kidville UWS! read more

We took our 1 yr old daughter to Kidville last weekend for her 1st haircut and had a great experience. We weren't sure if she would remain seated the entire time, but the car chair, songs, and Gloria's calm and friendly demeanor kept her curious and entertained. Gloria also explained what she planned to do and we love the haircut! She saved locks of hair for us and we were surprised they even gave us a 'certificate' to commemorate. We took our daughter for her first haircut today. The stylist was good, we are happy with the result. Unfortunately we cannot say the same about the receptionist. She was rude and was on the phone having private conversation the whole time she was "assisting" us. Complaining about being overwhelmed, etc, and when my husband would ask her questions, she would just reply with "yes" and "no" barely looking at him.
