Wonderful community museum with amazing outdoor space and special events. We have enjoyed the birthday parties and pop-up events for years, so much that we were inspired to contribute. Now that phase 1 of the museum is complete and open we are amazed. A beautiful little outdoor theater, a play cafe and farmer's market, a real greenhouse and a Channel Islands themed playground are just a few highlights of the outdoor experience. The indoor has a nice little classroom and shop area and a really cool maker space including a cardboard "chomp saw" and lots of crafts! The staff are really kind, patient, polite, and helpful. They help transform this from a fun space into an inviting experience. You can tell how passionate they are about family learning. The museum is already amazing and a fitting successor to the library that used to be on the site. We can't wait for phase 2, when the rest of the indoor space is renovated and available! read more

This was a cute little STEAM museum. It had some neat exhibits and it was a pretty clean facility. It is not very big so if you're coming just keep in mind you probably won't spend more than a few hours here. There is basically one big outdoor area and two smaller indoor areas. The feedback I'd give; More shade outside would be helpful. It waa very hot when we were there and not much shade. A water exhibit would be good too with the heat! I'm only posting this because I don't want families to spend their hard earned money. First, they charge adults to get in... why? My kids are playing... and it's EXPENSIVE. $65 dollars to get in for my kids to color and play with Legos... Let me back up, we went around 1pm on Thursday. Family of 4 and pulling up I was already underwhelmed with how small it was. There is an outdoor play area that was very hot and very dirty. Just needs an overall cleaning. A lot of the toys were in desperate need of an overhaul. Then there is one room of "science " ONE small room. With an oversized light bright. Coloring pages, a Lego wall and a wall vacuum thing... oh and some craft with pipe cleaners. And that was it yall. Also all of the workers were just clumped together gossiping ... not helping. Go to the dollar store buy some random stuff and make your own crafts. Boom, just saved everyone $65 read more

I saw a lot of promo and marketing for Kidstream children's museum on IG and FB so I thought it would be a great idea to check it out with my husband and my 19-month-old daughter. It was easy to find in Camarillo and there's a lot of parking in a private lot. Entrance is a bit awkward because you go in hallway to check in at a circular booth to get your tickets scanned (pre-purchased online) and a wristband for the day. All the employees are very nice and helped answered any questions. We arrived on a Sunday at 12:30pm (opens at 12pm on Sundays) so it was surprisingly crowded and really hot. We started off in the outdoor area and I applied sunscreen on my toddler since there wasn't too much shade in the outdoor play area. It was mostly a lot of older children and kids compared to my little one. I appreciate the different play stations so it seemed like there's a variety of activities for everyone. Some of the older kids loved sliding down the hill with cardboard but that activity can be done at the SB Zoo too, which also has a hill. My daughter loved the fox puppet so it was adorable to see her play with the campfire station and other kids + parents joining in. We also checked out the indoor room but it was super crowded and I was bumping into parents and the small lego pieces were not age appropriate for her. The smaller outdoor room from that indoor room had huge building blocks that my daughter could play but with the sun shining strong that it was just too hot to play and there was minimal shade. I think there's a lot of potential here when my daughter is older for imaginative and social play but she's too little for the museum. The membership is $150 for 2 adults + 1 toddler for future reference and you can apply visit's admission to upgrade to a membership. I like how they have a tables/chair party set up for possibly a birthday party event so that's great they can host. Interested to see how this place does in the near future! read more

You guys I'm literally so happy for Ventura County for Camarillo. This is exactly what we needed a Kids museum. This place is so amazing. I took my son and my niece there over the weekend and they absolutely loved it endless fun so many cool stations I mean they had a strawberry picking area which was so cute if you know, we have a lot of strawberries there in Oxnard and just love that it's outdoors with lots of shade definitely very intentional with the shade for the parents and the indoor area was also very cool. We spent a lot of time there. It's definitely worth checking out !! play is so important for children and this place is really fitting because we don't really have any museum close by there in the area. I'll definitely be coming back every time. I'm in town. Go check them out ! Also quick note I did go on the weekend. It was a little bit busy, but not that crazy. Service was good and the gift shop is so cute. We found so many unique goodies. Took my 6 & 7 year olds on a Tuesday and it wasn't too busy. The staff was amazing and had so much patience with all the kids running around. They made sure everyone was having fun and enjoying the space. They have an indoor space and an outdoor space. Plenty of seating for parents/grandparents. Everything is clean and organized even with kids playing constantly. They have hands on stations so they can learn and play at the same time. The staff helped the children learn science through experiments and crafts. The outdoor space had play areas had different themes like a market, smoothie shop, camp ground, theater and ocean. My boys enjoyed all the different activities. I would bring them daily if I lived closer. But definitely a few hours of play. read more

Wow! What a wonderful place for the children and families in our community! My family of 5 are thoroughly impressed. The membership is a great value as we have already been 4 times since the grand opening last week :-) The staff are so welcoming and friendly even on the busy opening weekend days. My 6 year old adores the makerspace area. They have had a different project lead by the knowledgeable staff every time we have gone. There is also a large variety of supplies on hand for kids to create whatever they think up! The airways tube wall is so engaging! The outdoor area is beautiful and fun for all ages! Even my 8 month old has been able to join in the fun! He has enjoyed climbing around in the cozy reading corner area. There are multiple exhibits for open ended play that encourage building, creating, problem solving, collaboration, and fun for all ages. We are big fans of phase one and can't wait to see everything that will be coming next! read more

We went to kidSTREAM with our 22 month old daughter this Saturday afternoon. When you open the front door, you would expect to be immediately inside the lobby area where you can get admission tickets. But that's not the case here. You have to walk through a crowded hallway to the other end of the building and then interact with employees inside a round circular table to get your tickets. This doesn't make any sense. Pretty much every museum has their admissions at the very front of the building. This may seem like nitpicking, but actually foreshadows some fundamental issues: mismanagement of space usage, excessive minimalism, and potential mismanagement of funds. The employees were very nice and helpful. After we got our wristbands, we went outside to the Curious Coast Cafe. Our daughter had the most fun playing with the outdoor kitchen & various fruits and vegetables. I was a little disappointed in the lack of truly interactive kitchen appliances. There was a toaster and blender bolted down, but the toaster couldn't 'pop out' bread and the wooden blender could only be taken apart. Basically Montessori style wooden toys that don't light up, make sounds, etc... The outdoor area had some shade, but not enough unless you gave your kid copious amounts of sunscreen. A lot of the outdoor attractions are extremely minimalist with too much wasted space and not enough interactive components. There's an area where you can hang sheets on outdoor poles using large clips, but it's a very bare area with a dirt ground, bland brick wall, and not much else. They also have a garden area, but there were no kids using it, a lot of wasted space, and a nice view of the parking lot. They could have had interactive signs that kids could read about different plants, but none were to be found. They could have had artists draw a mural on the bland brick wall that borders the outdoor area. I think the highlight of the outdoor exhibit is the blue mountain that kids can slide down. But a lot of that area seemed geared for kids on the older side (3-5 years old). Too much of the outdoor area is ultimately just empty or poorly designed space with not enough interactive elements. There were some employee booths but I didn't get the vibe that the outdoor section was educational for kids. It's more like, we'll provide the bare minimum and hope the kid's imaginations will do the rest. I heard the museum received 7 million in funding, but honestly the outdoor section looked like maybe it cost 0.75 million to build. It makes you wonder where the funds ultimately went.... I think our daughter got frustrated & bored after a while so we decided to head back inside. They did have one additional indoors room that was extremely crowded and dominated by 4-5 year olds. They had one adjacent outdoor area which was a total head scratcher. This outdoor area had a concrete floor, but soft rubber foam toys/structure. Our daughter kept tripping over the foam toys and landing on the hard concrete. The museum should have used a rubber ground in this case, but perhaps they ran out of funds. I also noticed they have a phase 2 indoor expansion planned, but not sure why they couldn't already achieve it within the very long timeline (7 years) and over 7 million dollars worth of funds. It's like you are paying for an early access video game, but the game is only 40% complete. Maybe a lot of the 7 million went towards permitting & land usage. In conclusion: Pros: 1. The employees are nice 2. Some good energy from having other kids around Cons: 1. The overall space is too small and gets too crowded 2. Excessive minimalism 3. Not enough interactive components 4. Too much wasted space due to flawed design and mismanagement 5. Too bare and plain 6. Too many obvious missed opportunities 7. Simply better free options available (Brandon's Village) 8. Best place for kids!! I took my 7 1/2 yr old niece and it's her new favorite place! Hands on, in and out doors, crafts, and an amazing way for kids/family to meet new friends! We went right at opening on a Saturday. It was extremely busy, but by 11:30, it emptied out fast. We ended up staying for 3 hours and our 5 year old had so much fun. The grass sofas are so comfy! I wish there were more. There is one that isn't shaded and it was very hot to sit on. Only 'negative' feedback: 1. Needs more seating (benches) outside for adults and snack times. Preferably shaded. 2. Needs more hand sanitizer stations. There was only one, by the front. Overall, we had a great time and will definitely be back. read more

Very lackluster experience on the 2nd day that it opened, May 22nd, 2026. The inside of the facility only has a single room to actually explore and do things in, which has arts and crafts to make (that you can take home), which is the highlight. The layout inside is a real week point, it seems like a lot of wasted space past the first room at the entrance (with the crafts in it). I guarantee that you will walk around inside and wonder where the other rooms and exhibits are, but there will be nothing else to do inside. The outdoor section is OK, but there isn't enough science based items there, it is more sliding down hills and lounging on grass chairs, and playing kitchen. It isn't worth the price. I would recommend if you go to explore the inside and outside with your child and then decide is the $100 for 2 people or $150 for 3 people is worth it to you (for the membership). read more

What a fantastic gem in our community! My children (6, 3, and 8 mos) each found something to love at KidSTREAM. From a truly impressive lego display, to a jaw-dropping makerspace with every craft supply you could think of, to the air tunnels the small indoor space alone could have kept my family entertained for hours! The outdoor exhibit is where the museum is currently the most fleshed out at the moment. Farmers markets, balance beams, a small area for the little guys to play, dress-up heaven, a chance to be archeologists and dig for fossils, and a truly impressive channel islands-inspired play area make for a delightful place for kids to get lost in play and imagination! Beyond the exhibits and interactivity, what truly brings KidSTREAM to life is the fanatstic team they have assembled! Staff work with kids on a variety of rotating experiments and crafts, and help breathe life into the museum. Was here for a private event this past weekend. The kids had so much fun! So many things to explore.

What a great experience! I rented the museum ($200 for 2 hours) for my grandchilren, they loved it. There is so much to do for every age, adults included. Legos, blocks, large car building, blowing scarfs, air ball wall, coloring, dark/light room, and astranaunt center, to name a few fun activities. Our host for the day was Yvette, she was amazing. She checked in on us frquently and gave us a tour of the new pace. She was filling in for Kristy ( who set up our day. (who had a family emergency). We were a total of 11 people, 5 kids and 6 adults. 2 three year olds, 2 five year old, and 1 eight year old. There was something for everyone. This is a great activity during Covid! read more

This will be an amazing place for the children and families of Ventura County! We have attended several outreach and on-site popup events, and are impressed by their dedication to informal learning opportunities for children. We went to a chemistry lab at the "S is for Science" event on their site in Camarillo, and were sad to miss the 3D printing "T is for Technology" event at the Outlets. We hear that "R is for Reading" is coming up later this month, to be followed by "E/Engineering, A/Arts, and M/Math". I hope the community rallies behind this organization and helps to fund the build out of a world class children's museum here in Ventura County! Right now they are only doing outreach and popup events while they raise funds to purchase and remodel the former library building, which is an ideal location. Our family can hardly wait for the real deal to be built! read more
