We couldn't have asked for a better first year of preschool. Going to school was always the highlight of my son's week. And today, the last day of school, he refused to leave. He knew it was the last day and didn't want to leave Ms Emma and Ms Ann. I had to bribe him to leave! I loved the fact that KUCI actually has a curriculum (all play and activity based) and they always have events going on to stimulate the children like petting zoos, growing butterflies, science fairs and more! The teachers and staff are loving and patient, and this school definitely attracts good families. read more

I am writing this review because as a Christian parent I would like to inform other parents of the treatment we received at the Kids Under Construction Preschool in Albuquerque,NM. This was our second year with the same preschool teacher with a second child. I received a call a few days before Christmas that my 5 year old son had told 3 teachers that he had been cut by a knife by one of his 4 sisters. The director called to tell me this, i told her there must be some mistake, was not sure how the "nick" on his ear happened but knew it did not happen that way and that my son often embellishes stories, he is five. The director maintained that their rules and the law required them to call CYFD (Children Youth and Families Department) I pleaded with her she kept maintaining that. I came into the office to try to discuss it further she said if I emailed her what happened she would review it before calling CYFD and said she tried to tell me that on the phone. She did not. I did question her teacher and co-director. The teacher,whom I thought to have a good relationship with, maintained she had not looked under the little piece of tissue and that she did not know the director was going to handle it that way. I also questioned my son in front of the two women and he did admit to telling "stories". The Co-director told me "That is just the way the director acts when she feels cornered". The director did not like the way I questioned her teachers and called the report into CYFD. We are now being investigated by the authorities and had been distressing for my family,especially right in the middle of Christmas. After hearing my story the investigator said he was sorry they should not have been called his office for this. It was evident that it was NOT a knife wound and they should have just looked at his ear. The speech teacher said she had told the director my son makes misstatements as well. I do not believe the school acted in my sons best interests and did not care to get to the truth in my opinion. We now have an "unsubstantiated" report with CYFD but a report that stays there nonetheless. It was not warranted, with thoughtful commonsense inquiry the whole thing could have been avoided. I am extremely disappointed that a Christian preschool did not have more discernment to say the least. We are believing the Lord for a loving preschool for my son. read more
