As with any facility there are good things about it and things you would change if you could. No…read moreplace is perfect and there is much appreciation for the teachers' devotion to our kids. This being said, I wanted to share my experience so that maybe it can help others in the future. We had 2 children there for almost 3 years. After a few incidents and the less than ideal handling of them (staff leaving for funeral as mentioned in another review) we decided to get our kids on the waitlist for another facility. After a year we finally got in. This decision did not come lightly, it was pondered and prayed about for some time and we felt as parents it was what was best for our kids. Knowing the typical waitlists around Lufkin I decided, much to the chagrin of my wife, to let Tulane know with plenty of time so that another family could prepare for their spot. We found out the first week of March that we were accepted into the other facility to begin in August (as most all facilities follow ISD) and we gave our notice at Tulane following TKA registration week. The reaction was what seemed to be that of insult, which I guess I understand, and the discussions were slightly tumultuous, which was disappointing but accepted. We essentially gave them a 3 month notice, our end date clearly discussed and confirmed by the owner numerous times. Well fast forward a month and we receive a call on May 17 that our "spots had been filled" and as a result our last day would be June 4. This obviously came as a shock as we had paid our registration fee for the year and had made it clear that we planned to finish that year out, even politely giving them plenty notice of such. Lengthy conversations were had with the owner by both myself and my wife, none of which were very fruitful in regards to either a solution or great reasoning as to why this was being done. I even spoke with The owners daughter about it and this was handled very distastefully in my opinion, a purely defensive stance taken and condescending in nature. I cannot speak to their true motivation but to me it felt spiteful, their was no evident benefit to them otherwise. This seemed to be an underlying theme when it came to issues but obviously one of this magnitude had not been encountered and I never foresaw it coming. I had heard of multiple other instances where families had left and the relationship with those in management had soured because of it so I was prepared for some tension but was dumbfounded that this could happen. I cannot begin to understand what goes into running a daycare facility like this and I guess I can understand some degree of negative emotion when someone leaves for a competitor but to me the actions taken are inexcusable. We are now stuck piecing together some sort of child care for 2 months since both myself and my wife have full time jobs. We will figure it out, God always makes a way, but this will no doubt take a toll on our kids in the short term. Now I'm not trying to bash the daycare as a whole, like I said we had plenty of good things come out of that place. Namely the teachers themselves, we are very grateful for the love they showed our kids. But the management leaves a lot to be desired. It was out of fear for what is to come when the current owner retires that fueled our decision to leave in the first place, as the integrity and professionalism with management seems to be generational. Unfortunately our time there ended in a way that supported our decision to leave in the first place.

When it comes to addressing parent concerns, somehow it will always be your fault. Cameras do not work and the owner said for one or even three parents it was not worth fixing. When asked, after a line of 10 parents are waiting for doors to open at 7:30am, if they have considered opening at 7 or 7:15am to ease the lines at 7:30, the Director/owner said it was not worth their struggle to have staff in early just so that parents can enjoy a cup of coffee before work. The carpets are beyond filthy which makes me question other sanitation measures taken, if any.
