Anyway, even though they don't take my insurance I've been to see Dr. Eckel 3 different times within the past couple years and have always been pleased. The wait time for an urgent care type place has been amazingly fast and Dr. Eckel is to the point and good with his bedside manner. My boyfriend has been as well and Dr. Eckel was no nonsense as well. He may seem a little hurried, but he is willing to answer any and all questions I think he's just trying to keep wait times down by keeping a fast work pace otherwise. When I was in for a kidney stone (2x), he didn't perform any tests he felt were gonna just add on costs but weren't necessary and for my UTI he had me in and out with an antibiotic prescription that did the trick in no time flat. They are open on Saturdays and each time my visit has been less than my ER copay would've been since I couldn't have waited till Monday to see my regular doctor.

Prior to taking Angela's prep classes, my husband commented on how the role of a doula suits less dominant personalities best, as they require assistance asserting themselves. How wrong he was! We took her comfort in childbirth, infant care and breastfeeding classes, and by the end of the series he told me to ask for her number. Before she even consulted with us we were ready to put a deposit down. Angela met with us a handful of times prior to labor, and then met us in Gainesville (we traveled from Ocala) early in the morning when I went into labor. She stayed with us for our entire 24 hour labor, and guided us through every step. She laid out candles, played music, massaged me for hours, asked for specialty laboring tools and brought some herself, advocated for things I wouldn't have known to ask for, and held my legs as I pushed for hours. Labor was far from an easy experience but I felt supported the entire time because Angela was there to ensure I was taken care of. Following my daughter's birth, she traveled to our home twice to consult me on breastfeeding and proper weight gain. This was invaluable, as my mom was unable to be with me following her birth due to COVID, and I really needed the emotional support. If you're wondering if you should hire a doula or are looking for the right one for you, look no further. You will not regret adding Angela to your care team.

This was especially important to me in the event that I couldn't make it to the hospital (military), having Angela there to coach and reassure my wife was critical. To say that she did amazing would be an understatement. I did make it to the birth and I must say: Hiring Angela was the best money that I've ever spent. She knew everything to do and say at those crucial moments when, let's face it, the husband is clueless. She met with us for coffee a few days prior to labor to go over what to expect, and when to leave for the hospital vs. false alarms. She was very knowledgeable, thorough, and personable. There is no price too high for the assurance and comfort that she provided my wife leading up to labor. During the delivery she arrived just after we did, after midnight. For the next 17 hours she comforted my wife through labor pains with methods that I, and I'm assuming the nurses as well, were totally unaware of. She set a soft mood with little electronic candles, and helped my wife get some much needed sleep. After the delivery she helped us with the nursing, postpartum care, and infant care. She also made recommendations for books, videos etc. that would help us on our new journey. About a week after the delivery she made the 45 minute drive out to our house to check up on us and the baby. Even after labor and delivery, Angela was still able to comfort my wife during the rough first weeks with our son. It was notice from both her and I, after each interaction, how much better and confident she made us feel as new parents. I can't recommend Angela enough and would be willing to vouch for her, and her services at a moments notice. We will be seeking her services again if we have another child, and will recommend to her to any expecting couples that we encounter.

This is the the **WORST** most godawful, dispicable practice on the FACE OF THE EARTH!!…read more (1) You get sick and need to be seen - they tell you "Our schedule is full, go to an emergency room or urgent care center" (2) Appointment are always 3-4 weeks out (3) Messages to your doctor takes days to get a call returned (that's when they don't loose the message or ignore it completely), then the doctor will never speak to you on the phone. You have to communicate through staff members, sending messages back and forth. What you end up with is a what should be a 2 minute conversation dragging out for 5 days! (4) If you need pre-authorization for an Rx: They expect the patient to contact the insurance company, get all the forms and information for them, then wait 3-4 weeks for an appointment to get it filled out! I am so outta here -- These people are lazy and do everything they can to avoid working or helping you. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place!

After relocating to Gainesville a few years ago I decided it was time to establish care with a…read morefamily physician. I scheduled an appointment with this practice because it was close to my home and I figured since they were affiliated with UF it would be good. To start off, it took about three weeks for an open appointment. They told me to arrive about 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork on the day of my appointment. My appointment time was the first one of the morning, but following instructions, I arrived early. I went to open the door and it was locked. No one was there. I waited for 15 minutes and someone finally came to open the door. What was the point of telling me to come early if they keep the door locked until the minute they officially open?! So I fill out my paperwork and wait and wait..and wait a little more. Shocking since I was the first appointment of the day. I'm finally in an exam room, the nurse takes my vitals and then I wait for the doctor. I had a couple things I wanted to discuss since I had not visited a family physician for a while. The doctor comes in and we start talking about my questions/concerns. She stops me and says "One thing at a time, we can't cover everything today". I absolutely did NOT have a lengthy list or anything major to discuss! Talking a few minutes longer she is almost positive that I'm pregnant and wants me to do a urine test. I knew there was absolutely no way I was pregnant, but I said whatever and peed in a cup. Guess what, I wasn't pregnant. After 15 minutes of accomplishing nothing, she orders a bunch of labs, which I was sent to Quest to have done a few days later. Here is where things get crazy. I received a voicemail from the nurse rattling off the results of my labs in technical terms. At the end of the voicemail she says I am being referred to UF Hematology/Oncology and they will be calling me to schedule an appointment! I am not a medical professional, so I had no idea what the results she rattled off meant and I was terrified to hear that I was being referred to an oncologist (doctor specializing in cancer). That is not something you leave on a voicemail message. I quickly call the office and ask to speak to the doctor. They would not let me speak to the doctor, but had the nurse call me back. She went a little more in depth about the results, but I still didn't really understand what the heck was going on. Hematology/Oncology called and the first appointment was a month out, which I was freaking out about. I needed answers. I called UF physicians to schedule a follow up visit so I could ask her to re test everything in the meantime just to make sure there wasn't a mistake. Her response was no and that hematology would run their own tests at my upcoming visit. I thought this was absurd, just order another round of labs to confirm the results. For one month I was extremely stressed out and terrified that I had something seriously wrong. When I finally went to my appointment with the specialist, it turned out to be a lab error. All of my stress and anxiety could have been prevented if the doctor would have re tested like I had requested. Avoid this practice like the plague.

Fortunately, they were proactive and did not have the usual three reams of paperwork to fill out. The checked on my VA health care benefits and I ended up using another insurance as the path of least resistance but they gave me the number to call to get the VA thing squared away. This has got to be the closest to a small-town doctor's office of old that I could imagine. All family run, from the front desk to the nurse to the doc himself. They listened, they gave suggestions to help mitigate the discomfort. The only thing they couldn't do was speed up the recovery.....they can't control time. What they do do is respect your time. In and out in a jiffy but not rushed at all. They prove medical care shouldn't be an all-day affair. I left there feeling sick but knowing I was on the path to recovery. While I don't live there, I do visit, and if I need an MD I know the OneStop I am going to make and it is at One Stop Medical......Thanks.
