Montessori of Brea has been an enriching, amazing, and wonderful learning experience for our three…read moredaughters. As a former Montessori student, this school stays true to the Montessori method of teaching. There are plenty of hands-on learning materials that are age appropriate from 2 years old in preschool to 7 years old in K-1. The kids are able to learn at their own pace and enjoy an environment of collaborative play and learning. Every child of mine who entered preschool had their initial episodes of tears and crying in the first few months. But the teachers at Montessori of Brea are so kind with their loving voices, gentle nudges, and guided redirection to help the children focus on their learning and forget about the separation from parents. Ms. Kim was our preschool teacher for our first 2 daughters and is currently teaching our 3 year old. Our whole family LOVES Ms. Kim! When my two older grade school kids come to pick up our baby, they ALWAYS have to come to give Ms. Kim a hug! She is caring, loving, and has great communication with parents at drop off and/or pick up. There are a total of 4 teachers for the classroom, but I'm amazed at Ms. Kim's organization and memory having to be the primary teacher of 28+ kids and knowing each child's ability. I can barely handle remembering my 3! Ms. Dana was our most recent K-1 teacher and she is just as great! Her lessons helped prepare my daughter for school outside of Montessori. Her open communication and constant use of technology helped prepare us for future apps used in grade school. Ms. Dana was very active in providing updates, even sending pictures to all the class parents of special events and personal messages for individual achievements! With the help of ALL the teachers at Montessori of Brea, our oldest daughter got into GATE (Gifted & Talented Education) and is excelling. Our second daughter is reading three grade levels above her current grade and is thriving at her new school thanks to the teachers and Montessori of Brea. I can only give my highest recommendation for this place! I tell all my neighbors and friends in the area about Montessori of Brea because it has helped our children succeed in and out of the classroom.

I grew up attending Montessori schools and my mother is a Montessori teacher, so I know what to look for. After observing different schools in the area and speaking in-depth with the staff, I felt MoB was truly the best place for my brilliant children. The environment and teacher credentials are all authentic, and the classrooms reminded me of my own childhood Montessori schools. If you take a tour, you will observe busy children enthusiastically working with a level of focus you do not see in traditional preschools/kindergartens. The education is top quality, and the staff friendly, patient, and extremely knowledgeable in child development. Three of my children graduated from MoB, with my youngest being the most recent graduate. They were under the exceptional guidance of Ms. Tess (lead teacher and also a music scholar), Ms. Padmini, Ms. Cindy, Ms. Dana, Mr. Vargas, and Ms. Nayna. We are so grateful for their contribution to our children's development. Every one my kids graduated from MoB with high-level reading and math skills, a love for science, strong musical knowledge, a love and respect for nature and the Earth, as well as high self-confidence and independence. My oldest children, now 12 and 10, are in GATE (Gifted and Talented Education program) in the public school system, and continue to excel. I have no doubt my youngest, who recently graduated from MoB, will also qualify for the GATE program. I credit Montessori of Brea for bringing out my children's full potential--they care about the mental, physical, social, emotional, AND academic wellbeing of the child. My kids loved all the hands-on learning at Montessori of Brea, and had so much fun over the years--we go back regularly to visit Ms. Ali and all the lovely teachers and support staff, as we consider them family. P.S. My children attended from age 2 to age 6; best decision ever.

They nickel and dime you to death. They will charge you for sneezing in the wrong place. And during the COVID crisis, they are still charging for the daycare hours. They claim to be offering instruction online, but they aren't offering daycare. It doesn't bother me as much, but we know of families with babies in room 1. The videos this place is posting don't help at all. They aren't providing their service anymore and they are not adjusting the room 1 families' tuition. That's just not right. So, we like the treatment our children received here, but I question the ethics of a place that is this much about the bottom line.

He is always happy, silly and comes home doing something new after each week at school. The staff is really what makes this experience so special for us -- every single teacher in room 1. It's been a pleasure watching our kids grow under the tutelage of Ms Cole (and Ms Rokosz) and Ms Villaruel and her aides. Admin staff Ms Bree and Ms Kristine are great as well. One thing that stands out is the emphasis on public speaking and developing self-confidence through a variety of performances, events and daily tasks. Academically, expect your kids to reach higher (national) grade equivalency due to their strong course curriculum. Some things that we've grown to appreciate: - Variety of after school activities - Amazing teachers and staff - Convenient location for pickup/dropoff - Involved community via engaged students and parents - Lunch menu that kids actually look forward to eating - Annual events and performances It's unfortunate reading some of the negative reviews. From the time my son started in Ms. Cole's classroom, we saw a major shift in his wellbeing and behavior. He became anxious about school, and at home we began dealing with behaviors we had not experienced before. Most alarming: when Ms. Cole's name is mentioned, my son becomes visibly distressed. A child being that upset at the mention of an adult at school is a serious red flag and should be taken extremely seriously. Which, they did not. To make sure we were being fair and objective, we observed the classroom via the school's camera for nearly two hours with Dr. Chen, the former school principal. During that time, our concerns were not subtle, they were very clear. The overall tone felt cold and emotionally disconnected, and we did not observe warmth or affection toward the children. In our experience, Ms. Cole and Ms. Rokosz were far from affectionate, especially compared to educators like Ms. Ashley, who demonstrated a noticeably warmer and more nurturing presence. We had the chance to address this to them in person during a meeting. When my husband and I raised concerns, I did not feel the school approached the situation with openness, empathy, or a child-centered mindset. The environment did not feel emotionally supportive, and it did not feel like they were willing to thoughtfully adapt or collaborate to meet a child's needs. For a program that promotes Montessori values, the lack of emotional attunement and support was disappointing. The clearest proof for our family is what happened next: we moved our son to a new Montessori program, and within just five days all of the "bad behavior" stopped. That change was immediate and dramatic. The new school is truly night and day, teachers are warm, affectionate, responsive, and supportive, and the children there genuinely seem happier and more at ease. I don't write negative reviews lightly, but parents deserve to know that this primary classroom setting did not work for our child and the school did not handle our concerns in a way that felt supportive or emotionally safe. I strongly encourage leadership to take a hard look at classroom culture, communication with parents, and how children's emotional needs are being handled, because for us, the impact was significant. I cannot in good conscience recommend enrolling any child in this school.

She works graveyard and needed a place for her little one to be taken care of during the day while she got some rest. She saw Love & Care Montessori and asked me to check it out for her along with several other locations because she didn't have the time due to her schedule. I called and made an appointment with the owner, Yael, whom was very nice and gave me a tour of everything. So for those of you out there here is my review: 1) First thoughts: When I walked in, all I can say is that my inner child came to life! I mean I looked around and there is litterally every toy immaginable. From small cars to dinosaurs to even puzzles and games, this place had everything. I kind of wish I had a place like this for my childhood years. Yael went on to explain that she teaches on montessori methods as she gave me a tour of the house. 2) Layout: What I thought was most impressive was how every room was organized and how each room served it's own purpose. Even more astounding, the play areas in both the back and front yards were extensive, with slides and play houses and little cars to ride around, I thought to myself, if I had a kid I would want him/her to come here. They even had an enclosed trampoline in the back yard so that the kids could jump around and have fun while protected by the netting; how cool! Inside there are three seperate rooms. There's the play room when you first walk in, followed by the infant room, and finally the lunch room. 3) Schedule: Yael went over the daily routines of all the children from snack and lunch times to nap times and daily activities, arts and crafts and play times. All in all, everything seemed very organized and planned out in comparison to some of the other daycares I checked out. 4) Pricing: I compared the prices of the other daycares I visited and this one. For the weekly price, Love & Care Montessori had more to offer than similar daycares in the area for around the same weekly rate, give or take $10. 5) Atmosphere: What I really enjoyed was the homelike feel that this daycare had. It felt warm and inviting from start to finish. I think mostly in part by Yael. My first thoughts on her is that she had a lot of energy and a fun loving personality. Compared to the other dayares that I visited only one other one had a similar feeling when you walk right in. I felt that if I had a child I would be comfortable leaving him/her at this daycare for prolonged periods of time. Final thoughts: There are many daycares out there. Out of all the daycares I have visited, I thoroughly enjoyed all the things Love & Care Montessori and owner Yael had to offer. I am definitely recommending this place to my friend Steph and I recommend this to all of you as well who are reading my review. It might not be for everyone, but I encourage you to check it out.

However, last year (2024-2025 school year) things changed. I first noticed there were some teachers that left from the previous school year, and some other "minor" changes. Most importantly, the teachers my child had were amazing for Kindergarten! There were truly awesome from the beginning to end. Unfortunately, the administrative staff did not provide the students with a Kindergarten picture and a class picture like the year prior. I personally feel those are important memories for the families and the children. Then as the school year went on, I noticed there were less activities than the prior year. Once the school year ended, MORE great and awesome teachers left the school!!!! I have prior experience working in education and from what I know and have seen, when there is so much teacher turnover year after year, it is because more than likely the administrative staff is not taking care of the teachers. This school has had a tremendous reputation for many many years, however it seems like things are on the decline and yet tuition is going up.

My daughter is a picky eater & enjoys mostly Korean food so the fact that she can eat BETTER food at school than at home is a huge benefit. When the weather gets colder, the director starts to provide the children with soups like sullungtang to care for the health of her students. CLEANLINESS: Nothing to worry about here. The director is hypersensitive about the cleanliness of her facility as well as her students.
