I just edited this post: I have been wanting to write this review for a while. So I was interested in having my child attend this child care facility but decided to hold off until I felt confident in leaving my child in their care. So I live close to a local park where "Kido Care" staff take the children to play. I, as well, take my child to the same local park and thought this is a perfect opportunity to see how the staff treat the children. So I've been observing the interaction between staff and kids for over a year. And I've come to the conclusion I would never put my child in this facility for the following reasons. 1. Every time I'm at the park which is daily or every other day (during the warmer months), I've observed some of the staff on their cell phones not watching kids, and generally they huddle around this one bench that is circular, chatting to each other versus watching the kids. 2. There about 4 women who I SEE THAT ACTUALLY DO THEIR JOB, a couple of older ladies in their 40's and 2 younger women in their 20's. They will stand at the various monkey bars ensuring kids are being safe and dealing with behaviours. However, I can see them getting overwhelmed because they're not getting the assistance from their coworkers who are chatting to each other. The other day the two older ladies were managing all the children while 4 other staff sat on their butts chatting. Last week I saw 5 Kido Care kids on the merry-go-round, the rough-housing began, four children flew off the merry-go-round, while one child continually turned the merry-go-round. Kids were crying, yelling and screaming , and of course the staff were talking to each other not watching the children. It took two of us parents to notify the staff about the "potential ," of someone getting hurt, however kids were all ready hurt, screaming, yelling, before the staff attended to them. Most of the parents at the park talk about "kiddo care," in a very negative way, and we all have the same complaint about the staff not watching the children at the park. Most of us try to avoid going to the park when Kido care kids and staff are there because we know it will be a zoo. It's usually, us parents that have to talk to the kido care kids/staff about behaviours/sharing rough housing etc. because the staff are too busy talking to each other or on their phones. I have many more examples of kids crying/screaming, getting hurt at the playground with Kido care but these are just a few examples. If I was parent with my child in this facility I would consider taking your child somewhere else because if they're like this in public what are they like taking care of your child when they're actually at Kido care facilities? I gave one star for the 4 ladies that actually do their job. The rest should be let go. My advice to this company is. No cell phone use at the park unless it's an emergency. Each staff member should have a designated area at the playground so they can observe the children playing to deal with behaviours and safety issues. Until they make these changes many parents at the park would not consider your company as a place to have our children. I've also observed parents going to the park to pick up the children and it's funny to watch the behaviour of the staff change when they see a parent coming, the phones mysteriously go away, They stop talking to each other; of course they don't want you to see what they're actually doing. As parents we're trusting childcare providers to "watch," our children not gossip with your co-workers. before you think of putting your child in this facility, just go to the local park and watch the staff for yourself, then you'll see firsthand how some of the staff are using the park as a social gathering for themselves versus watching your children . Go between 1-3pm to 13 ave and 1st SW the park across from Starbucks and see for yourself. read more

We have been with Kido Care since 2013 when it opened. Both of our children have attended or are attending Kido Care. The care and thoughtfulness of the teachers has been outstanding. The programming has been wonderful and we have always felt the care they've received to be fantastic. Throughout our 5.5 years at Kido Care, our children have learned so much; they are well prepared for elementary school, are articulate, have made lifelong friends, and love their teachers. We have never had an issue with the care and attention they receive, nor have we had any concerns with supervision at the playground. The children go to the playground to let off steam so they can focus on learning. They will make mistakes, some might be too rough at times, but this is a critical part of growing and learning. There have been positive staffing and management changes in the last few months. While we have always held the program in high regard, the changes are refreshing and I have and will continue to recommend Kido Care to family, friends, and colleagues. read more

I have had my child enrolled at Kido Care for nearly 3 years, and while the care of the children while at the playground is important, it is a small component of the specialty care and education they receive at the school. The Montessori and Reggio programs they have developed have been great for my daughter. She learns quickly; she is sociable; she explores; asks questions; loves her teachers. She has never reported any negative experiences about Kido Care, and she is capable of expressing them. Allowing children to experience their surroundings is important, but setting boundaries is also pertinent. The school has new ownership and has made several positive staffing changes recently that have added to the high standard of childcare. I do not hesitate to recommend Kido Care. read more

I love this school, my child couldn't be happier! Teachers are kind, understanding and know how to deal with children and their diverse needs. I would certainly recommend this school, and love that they also speak and encourage spanish. Can't say enough good things about it! read more

Meet the Business Owner: Adriana F.

Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, Adriana fell in love with this peaceful country in 2004 when she arrived for the first time. She holds a BA in Communications, a Diploma in Education with a specialization in bilingualism and early childhood education; and she also holds a Master in Education at the University of Calgary. Her passion is inspiring, engaging, teaching and working towards expanding her knowledge and sharing it, as well as, serving others to develop new concepts and ideas. She opened an innovative home-based bilingual Spanish/English childcare space in 2009, which turned into a Montessori preschool after learning the benefits of the method. As a proactive, observer and enthusiastic individual, she recognizes her interest in guiding children thru the learning process as well as learning with them.

Ms. Celine has a way with children that really keeps them focused. -Adaptable - 2020-2022 was a hard time for schooling for all families but Ms. Celine was able to keep the school safe, keep the parents informed, and keep the kids learning every single day. When our daughter had to miss school for a few weeks, they made efforts to include her via Google Meet which was a wonderful way for my daughter to stay included. -Nurturing - Each of the teacher's here have such a wonderful way of knowing what a child needs. They really gave my daughter the push she needed but also gave her the space to grow. At each of our parent teacher interviews, we got specific and concrete feedback on how our daughter could improve and areas where she was already strong. -Community - The community of parents that bring their kids here is just wonderful and this speaks to the strength of the school and how it fosters that network. Every change (both big and small) that she has implemented has been for the better. Beginning with the 2017/2018 school year they had a full day kindergarten program. Additionally they offer complimentary speech assessments for all the students and should your child need extra help they will arrange for he/she to work with a speech language pathologist during school time. My daughter is very shy (very independent but very shy) and this Montessori has developed and fostered her confidence and has allowed her to be more social. They strive to have students be self-directed and to be accountable for their decisions and actions. My daughter (and my older son under the old owner) both loved literacy and mathematics when they "graduated" from this school. I have two avid readers in my household (they are only 5 and 8 years old) and this is largely a reflection of all the literacy/phonetic work done at Montessori at a young age. This Montessori has instilled the love of learning in my children which made the transition to elementary school so easy. Our love for this school, has resulted in us changing the location of some other child care for our third child so he too can attend this school for the next three years. I would whole heartedly recommend this school to any parent who is looking for a program that will truly allow your young child to shine as an individual and to be exposed to a wonderful introduction to the world of learning.

Our older children attended an AMI accredited private Montessori program and we can honestly say that Kidsmart is superior in many ways! If you are planning the private school route for elementary, your child might be required to write the Bracken Assessment. Mrs. M thoroughly prepares each child with the tools and knowledge to ace this assessment. My daughter is well ahead of where she needs to be and was accepted into a high ranking private school (with a huge waiting list) for September 2016 all because she scored in the advanced range on the Bracken Assessment. We owe it all to Mrs. M and her fantastic assistant Ms. Angie. I discovered that my payment for January 2025 (which I made in December 2024) was not included in either year's tax receipt. The 2024 tax receipt covers the period December 28, 2023 - December 27, 2024. The 2025 tax receipt covers the period January 1, 2025 - December 31, 2025 Because of this date split, payments made for January 2025 in late December 2024 were excluded from both receipts. In my case, December 28-29, 2024 were not accounted for in either year's tax documentation. Fueling Brains has not agreed to correct this.
