(The cider itself was delicious!) The tomato soup and bread course was good, although the soups were served at the same table at varying temperatures. I ordered the chicken for our party of 4 and that was pretty good. I did hear a high school student at the head table ask his parents if they could stop at Culver's on the way home because his chicken was not cooked. The dessert was pretty good, although I do not remember what it is by now. The soft drinks were grab and go cans laid out on the bar over ice. I had no problem with that choice, it was just a little unclear at first if the cans were included with our ticket or not. The coat check staff was quick and efficient. Rachel Herrera was our Event Producer and she was absolutely amazing. From start to finish she was great to work with! We booked our venue a year out and she was extremely organized, responsive with her email replies, accommodating, kind, and knowledgeable. She provided great insight and suggestions to help ensure our day was as successful and wonderful as it was. On the night of our wedding, Rachel was onsite and as supportive as ever! She also had a Banquet Captain, Mauricio, who was fantastic to work with. Guests are still raving about how great the food was. We were so pleased with the presentation and the quality of the food! This is my daughter's favorite place to play. The staff here are friendly and wonderful. There are so many things to do. Hours can be erratic, about 11-5 on most days except Monday where there is no kitchen service, winter time where they may close early, and on specials nights where they open till 8 pm. Everyone at our wedding has commented on how FANTASTIC the food was. The Arboretum did the room set-up for us, because there was a brunch wedding the same day as our 6pm start wedding. It wouldn't have been better if I did it myself. Everything was laid out as I had requested and I had no reason to worry about things not being correct (we provided centerpieces, escort cards, decor, cake topper, lighting, you name it.) Having the private brides room was a life-saver. Even just to have a place to sit and have a quiet moment by myself. My only hiccups were that we had discussed having our cocktail hour in the main foyer dining area. This was sold to us at the very first meeting, that we had the entire venue, and this is where cocktails would be - they would take the tables away and put in some high-boys. This did not happen. When I asked about it, I was told it wasn't in our contract. So, lesson learned to me, get everything in writing. The only other thing was that scheduling the tasting was a little strange. I asked many times from the time we signed our contract (late winter 2016) through spring, summer, and fall, when our tasting would be. I was told 2 months ahead of time. We were scheduled for October 2016, which was fine, until at the tasting when we told them how quickly our event was coming up, a few of the employees looked at each other as if we should've had our tasting far sooner (oh, your wedding is in January? this is late October...) It's pointless trying to figure out how many times I have been here. Being Russian, having Russian or European friends, or working with them, It is given that you will one day come here for one reason or another. La Mirage is definitely my favorite out of all the other choices that Chicago and its suburbs has to offer. It's spacious, beautiful decor all around, and great food. I love coming here with someone who has never been to a Russian banquet before. Let's just say that these people experience culture shock to the fullest. They don't know what's crazier: the endless amount of food or the unlimited flow of vodka, wine, cognac, or champagne. Gotta love it :) Here is a short and sweet summary of what this place represents. It's a large banquet that has three rooms - one is the main room that can host multiple parties, the middle room is smaller, more private and has an entrance to the outside, and the room on the right is a bit bigger but also private. If there is a wedding, then the main room is usually reserved just for that, otherwise, you can have as small of a table as two people, to 50 or 60. There is a main band who sing mostly Russian songs all night and announce all the different occasions going on. You can request songs, for money of course. The food, which may seem an endless amount to those who don't know how this works, ranges from cold appetizers to dessert and coffee at the end. The table is already prepared for you when you get there, and it's probably set according to the package the party ordered. Appetizers can range from multiple salads, fish, crepes with caviar, mushrooms, sushi, and other types of foods. After the appetizers are served (and that lasts about two hours) there is a small break and you get the main entrees - all kinds of meat (beef, chicken, pork), potatoes, fish, just name it, you got it. Another break to dance and drink is given, and finally, the dessert is served (around 12:30/1am). You can bring your own cake, or they offer many types of pastries and desserts as well. Believe me when I say that you WILL NOT go hungry after leaving La Mirage. My only other note in this essay of a review is to dress to impress. These are Russians after all, and they WILL judge you! Just be prepared to eat a lot, drink like you have never drank before, and dance all night to crappy music. It's a guaranteed good time!
