This is a great book store. it's very organized and they are in the process of even better organization than it already is by putting books on line. Bookstore cat. I'm sold. But it's also a very cute shop. The selection is a little random, so it's more for browsing than specific buying goals, but they have a lot of different types of books, and a good variety in each, so it's definitely worth a visit. read more

A nice little bookstore in a revitalized area of downtown. Modest little storefront on 3rd, and tight when you walk in, but pretty darn big inside. Mostly new books, plenty of used, a few other gifts and things. Staff are passionate and friendly (and had a cute little kitten when I went in.) Bright and airy space, well-organized, with a wide variety. No aviation section that I could find (airplane geek,) but they did have a Jerrie Mock book so I walked out with that, and not the kitten, sadly. Prices are reasonable, and with the farm market, soda shop, and other shops, this little stretch is well worth a visit. I'd love to have a place like this in my neighborhood. read more

I love Kick's Mix! It is a local independent bookstore that has a great selection of both new and used books, as well as gifts. Looks small from the outside but many rooms full of books inside! They often host author signings and other literary activities. The staff is helpful and friendly. The store is easy to get to and parking is readily available right in front. Highly recommend you check it out! read more

They have just about anything you could thing of from books, puzzles, music, etc. And if they don't have it? They will order it for you. And you won't pay outrageous prices for anything. The perfect small locally owned company, with great staff. Always friendly and willing to help you with anything that you need. The book folding that they do there is absolutely amazing, and they even offer classes so that everyone can do them themselves. I would definitely recommend this bookstore to anyone I know, and I have! read more

Absolutely LOVE this quaint hole in the wall!!!! They have very reasonable prices, staff is friendly and knowledgeable and they offer craft classes to help repurpose books! What more could you ask for? I've been here several times...and have always left a happy and satisfied customer. read more

This is a great little bookstore in the downtown area. They offer many varieties of books and if you can't find one they can order it for you. They offer a fun "recycled" book art instruction that they can customize to your needs. They are friendly and welcoming and should be on your list of places to visit while in Newark. read more

We opened Kicks Mix in 2014 with the goal of offering vocational training and employment opportunities to adults with disabilities. What started as a singular mission has grown into a full-fledged book store with a constantly rotating selection of good reads. As a locally owned business, our focus is our community, and there's nothing we love more than helping people find their next page turner. Established in 2014.

We opened our store in July of 2014. We have managed to expand our inventory and (sometimes) are bursting at the seams with books and more. We love being a part of the new, revitalized downtown and hope to be your local bookstore!

Meet the Business Owner: Diana. S.

After 30 years of working in the public sector, Diana and her business partner, Mary, opened Kicks Mix Bookstore. Other than having an MBA and a passion for reading, Diana didn't know a lot about operating a bookstore. However, she has learned a lot and continues to learn more everyday!

If you struggle with mobility such as climbing steps and navigating uneven sidewalks, crowded, and/or tight spaces, this bookstore might not be accessible to you. If you are plus sized, you might struggle to navigate this place as well. There was a teeny tiny bathroom on the bottom floor. You have to get the key (with a map to find the bathroom, connected to a large block of wood so it doesn't get lost,) from a cashier near the entrance. Kick's Mix is a wonderful little bookstore. I go there often. I boought my Grandchildren the complete Harry Potter series. I use books for my art projects in mixed media and it is a good place to find inexpensive books for that purpose. . And my friends and I enjoyed the book folding classes and we have all made many folded books for gifts. They are friendly and helpful too. I love seeing the downtown area revitalized and I actually discovered them when attending the market next door to them. I hope many more people will discover and support them! read more

A great place to find great books! It has a very welcoming atmosphere and an extremely friendly staff! The smell of books welcomes you along with the smiles of everyone inside, it's nestled in the downtown district of Newark with convenient parking, next to several places to get a great meal! Kick's Mix is a great bookstore...and just what our area needs! They have a combination of new and used books, all at reasonable prices. I was looking for a good price on a new bestseller. They didn't have the title in stock, but they were able to order it for me in a timely manner at a better price than I could find online! Love, love this little (actually it's quite a good size)bookstore downtown. I can always find paperbacks really cheap and in good condition. They have any subject that you would want to read about.
