I was summonsed for a criminal driving matter to go to the Magistrates Court. I was told upfront that it was not imprisonable and therefore I would not be eligible for legal aid. I'm a newly trained teacher and couldn't afford the sums that the big firms charge. A friend told me to try Mortons Solicitors who are near to where I live. They were half the price I had been quoted elsewhere and were prepared to agree to pay in installments ahead of the trial. A driving licence is essential for my work as I live 10 miles from where I work in a school in a rural area where there is no public transport. Mortons made the whole court thing as painless as possible. I got 6 penalty points in the end to add to my previous 5. I'm lucky that the court imposed the minimum otherwise I would have lost my licence. Mortons argued that it would be unfair for me to lose my licence over this. Onward and upwards I go. Really poor service, which left me up stream and without a paddle, rude, obnoxious, aloof, and the…read moresolicitor I dealt with, who happened to be the boss (as far as I know) should not be allowed anywhere near a courtroom, it's as if he hasn't been correctly vetted or assessed as he makes no sense at all yet is allowed to practice in a court of law helping in assisting a persons future, all while he leans on you to plead guilty (10 of those a month, hmmm I wonder that would pay?), then dismisses the positive aspects of your case, to kill the optimism, which is a good thing for him for at least 7 out of 10 (and that's being generous) people would simply stay with a solicitor instead of changing to a new one, so do the maths, oh, and also check Sugares reviews at the infamous 'Solicitors From Hell' website which I may also leave a review on,,

The first move was particularly complicated as my wife and I both owned houses before we got married, but the team was able to sort us out very capably. We've also used them for our wills and again have no real complaints. The only minor grumble would be the usual one, I suppose -- that sorting these things out always seems to take for ever; Fieldings Porter did sometimes seem a bit slow, but no worse than anywhere else.
