Dr. Best lives up to her name. What a patient, prompt, and caring doc. In Ohio, our son was…read moreterrified of going to the eye doctor, as they didn't explain things well and were impatient with him re: immense fear of eye dilation. Here, they provide an option of having a photo taken of eyes instead of dilation (at an extra cost). This was a welcomed alternative and saved us all a lot of time and tears, too. As someone who has never worn glasses, Dr. Best explained to me what she was doing and why, and answered any questions I had without a lot of medical jargon that would make me scratch my head in confusion. After the eye photos, she even had my son come over to look at the pics and ask her questions. He thought that was super cool. He (shockingly) told me as we left, "That was pretty fun, Mommy!" Whatttt?! We were seen very quickly and the appointment only lasted about 30 minutes, including picking out and purchasing new frames. Speaking of, there was a pretty big selection of youth frames, which was refreshing. They were all fairly affordable (most under $150) and ended up being fully covered by our insurance. Thrilled to have found this office, with high-tech exams, and highly empathetic staff.

Dr. Best and the staff are friendly, helpful and really listened to what we said. I have dry eyes and my husband has had two cornea transplants and a cataract. Dr. Best was familiar with his prior conditions of kerataconus and Fuch's dystrophy thus the transplants. She did some extensive testing that we'd never had done before and diagnosed the issue causing such eye fatigue and neck pain I'd been having. The office was clean, well organized, quiet and there was NO overcrowding in the waiting area. I would recommend this practice to anyone looking for eyecare in the area.

Dr. Dix at Volunteer Eyecare is the best optometrist I have ever seen (pun intended)…read more I have an unusual prescription, thanks to astigmatism and monovision correction via LASIK surgery 20 years ago (which I would totally do all over again - life-changing, truly). Anyway, as I've gotten older, my vision has naturally deteriorated. I've been to other optometrists who have tried to give me corrective prescriptions (glasses and contacts) but they never seemed to get it quite right. I know there is an adjustment period anytime you get a new prescription but prior to my Volunteer Eyecare appointment, I would try to wear my "new" glasses for a week or two, but I always ended up back in the old ones. Dr. Dix gave me a thorough examination and talked with me extensively about my options. He was able to determine why prior O.D.'s had difficulty pinning down an optimal prescription, and he patiently answered all of my questions. The solution? One contact! One contact in my right eye has completely resolved most of my vision challenges. I still need glasses for computer work and reading smaller print, but for driving at night, reading road signs ahead, and seeing my neighbor down the street waving at me... I see these and so many other things clearly with the addition of just one contact. Perhaps there are other great eye doctors in Maryville, but I'll never know because I found the very best one for me.

At 40+ Years I have been able to visit numerous doctors and this has to be the most amazing…read moreexperience I have had to date. I would recommend that anyone considering this doctor ABSOLUTELY choose somewhere else. This doctor came up with the wrong prescription, was unable to provide my glasses for over a month and when I asked about being provided the wrong prescription he got mad at me, started to throw a bit of a tantrum and hung up. That said there are numerous other eye doctors in the area that are capable of performing this work. There are high odds that this office will close soon given the complete lack of professionalism of the doctor. That said using the term doctor is a disservice to all of the actual doctors working hard at their profession. Once again I recommend that you DO NOT consider this doctor. If this is the only doctor within 50 miles then just drive out there. I would even consider flying to another state before I considered visiting.

After rummaging through the few, out dated frames, I finally was able to settle on one that would be ok. I was charged $150.00 for the contact lens exam and left with ONE pair of trial lenses. I was told to return in 7 days for a follow up and to pick up my glasses. That follow up appointment has yet to happen. The office hasn't been open since. I was given the wrong prescription of contacts and have yet to receive my glasses. I have made NUMEROUS attempts to make contact with these people via phone and in person, but have not success. I was able to stop the claim filed to my insurance company by these schmucks, but I have not been able to recoup my $150.00! The first red flag should of been the condition of this office! A complete disaster. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! I would give -1 if Yelp would allow it! I would like to know if this has happened to anyone else. Feel free to contact me, if so. There has got to be a way to stop this con artist. aburgess1121@gmail. com

Now the fun. No one calls to let you know your glasses have arrived. You will just need to call and check. Since they couldn't get the second pair right I decided to take them someplace else and requested a refund and told them they could just keep the frames I brought just so I wouldn't have to go back to that store. I took my prescription to Walmart where the glasses were made in less time, they were correct on the 1st try AND Walmart called to let me know they were in and ready for pickup. $180 less than The Eye Group for the exact same prescription! More Eye Group missteps even after losing my business. The manager called to ask once again what I wanted to do with the glasses, now that they arrived with the correct lens. Once again I told her to donate, and throw away, whatever they wanted to do because I would not ever set foot in one of their locations ever again. She said I'm sorry and that they would ship them to me to make up for all the inconvenience. Shipping label was created on 7/13 but never shipped. Sealed the deal, The Eye Group has lost my business as well as anyone that asks me "where is a good place to get glasses?"
