No use writing a review about the food as we all (well almost all) know what KFC tastes like. I thought I would review the service, or the lack there of.
I understand when you pay minimum wage you get what you paid for however... then there's this place.
Not a particularly busy time, two people ahead of me, one diner in the place already tucking into his food. The couple at the front and in the process of being served couldn't decide on what they wanted so they stood there procrastinating over several combinations and substitutions.
I never thought deciding what you wanted at a fast food outlet could be so complex however these two were clearly turning it in to an art form.
Eventually the two settled and the next people were served, then it was my turn. Hang on... it was my turn however I was left standing at the counter whilst the server broke into a conversation with the previous customer. Apparently, he used to work there.
The server then proceeded to make up the previous order whilst the first server grappled with the confused couples order.
Watching the two servers was literally like watching paint dry. I have never seen two people move so slowly whilst still managing to actually breathe. They both looked completely disinterested in the orders, their job, the universe and everything else. It was actually painful to watch.
Eventually, the first server came back to the register, looked right through me as if I weren't there and said "next one waiting". I looked around and I was the only person there so I was perplexed why she couldn't have just looked at me and said something earth shattering such as "can I help you"
Anyway, I placed my order with the server who gave no greeting, no eye contact, no thank you and no acknowledgement. She handed me my receipt and then I proceeded to wait for my order to be processed. Again, apathetic, sluggish and no energy whatsoever. Just painful.
I always have thought that some basic courtesy and enthusiasm is a prerequisite in the hospitality industry, or any industry where there is engagement with customers for that matter. Tonight, KFC proved otherwise. read more
