Don't let the name put you off…read more.. I love a chicken shop that serves free range chooks and these guys make a bit of a speciality of it. They do Lilydale chickens with the tastiest seasoning around. They are roasted on the rotisserie, so not overly greasy and they don't overcook them, so they're juicy as hell. They are a bit sparing on the stuffing, which is a shame, but apart from that I'd go so far as to say they're some of the best chooks in town. I've had occasions here where the service has been a bit rude, but not for a while. Maybe it's changed hands or something? The salads look a bit iffy, so I give them a wide berth, but if you just want a bloody good chicken for an easy dinner, Croxton Roosters is the place.

As far as local chicken shops go, Croxton Rooster is right up there with the best…read more Free range Lilydale chicken cooked via rotisserie (meaning they are super juicy without the grease), chips cooked to order with just the right amount of seasoning, and tasty gravy in a range of sizes (including half a tub of the small container for those needing enough for solo dining) and that's dinner taken care of. The staff have never been anything but friendly and welcoming on every visit and given there is always locals in attendance picking up their dinner, they are obviously doing something right and have definitely made a repeat customer out of me. Whether it's your hangover craving of chips and gravy, or you're needing a tasty family meal, Croxton Rooster can be relied on for both and they also have an assortment of cold fresh salads if you want some added extras with your meal.

Kebabs... Turkish Food, then this is the place to head to. A really big meal & reasonably priced…read more Some taxi drivers will come to this place during business hours just to get a Kebab. Even Taxi Drivers have to eat at some stage! They even have the Turkish version of standard drinks. Unfortunately, it can be loud @ times, but I have always had Take Away...

"...THEY'VE ALWAYS HAD A GOOD REP..! ~ WHAT'S HAPPENED..? NEW OWNERS OR BAD NIGHT..? ~ DUNNO BUT…read moreWON'T BE BACK...!!!" Last week there were 6 of us at a friend's house having a New Year catch-up drink... It was supposed to be simply an after work thing - it was a weekday, work next day - but it suddenly got to 8.30pm and we were all still there... all getting kinda pretty hungry... We decided it'd be a good idea to grab some decent take-away Turkish pizzas, so they suggested a call to KEBAB HOUSE on Pascoe Vale Road in Glenroy.. Honestly, I must'v rung 10 times - no answer... I said to the guys "hey, they're closed.. must be on break.." "no" they said "they're never closed.." "okay, let me drive over.. if they are closed I'll grab something else.." Got there at exactly 9pm - they were open - many of their tables were still full - they're s'posed to close at 9.30.. I didn't say anything about the phone - no point really.. I'd like to order 8 pizzas - 2 each of fetta, potato, lamb and onion, lamb and capsicum - "Sorry, oven not working.." said the girl - "No, we've run out of pizza bases.." said the guy. Okay, I'll have 8 kebabs - "We've only got felafel or chicken left.." said the girl - "All the lamb and kofta gone.." said the guy. Okay, I'll take half and half - "Only enough felafel for 2.." says the girl - "We didn't know we'd be busy.." says the guy. No probs, I say, and wait... Well, I reckon I waited 45 minutes, maybe longer - I must have, because they were almost closed up when I walked outta there... I was back at the house in 5 mins... they all thought I'd got lost... they were really starving by this time... I unwrapped the kebabs - sliced them into thirds - placed them on a platter - popped them on the table.. 1. the Turkish bread was thick, stodgy, tasteless and stale - not grilled, not toasted... 2. the chicken, although tender and nicely spiced, was stone cold... 3. the felafels were 'dry as'... 4. the salad was sparse and soggy - no onion, no seasoning... 5. the garlic sauce could hardly be tasted - just a faint sourness like off yoghurt - very unpleasant... They said "you went to the wrong place, you silly bugger.." "No, I went where you told me.." "Well.." they decided.. "they must'v sold to some-one green.. no doubt about that.." Anyway I paid $77 for those kebab rolls - I had $75 cash on me - No, had to do an eftpos - Thank God I had my wallet... I won't be going back - Sorry - They'll have to find another place to get Turkish pizzas... Visited on Tuesday 12 Jan 2016 for take-away dinner.
