The shop uses chemical free La Ionica Poultry and serves chickens, chips, salads, roast potatoes and all of the usual sort of things you will find in a chicken shop. Other than the fact that the chips are particularly good, the rest of the food is simply good ordinary takeaway that you will find at any good chicken shop. What makes the shop particularly appealing though are the very friendly and helpful staff who will go out of their way to help customers, even though some of find English difficult. I have 2 young children and they usually tear around the shop getting into everything but the staff are particularly tolerant of them even when they try to take all of the straws and plastic cutlery. A staff member even brought our chips out to the car once when it was difficult for me to take the kids in. Inside the shop there is a television and numerous daily newspapers, giving customers something to do while waiting for their chicken and chips. A good, old style chicken shop!

They also have salads which look good but I haven't tried them. Im only into the STR (Super Tasty Rooster). They have a couple of out side chairs or this place is good for take away.

They will make you up a killer roast pork sandwich with chips and gravy, but make sure your extra hungry because these sandwiches are huge! They also have a small selection of side salads to choose from as well as hot dogs, milkshakes and fish and chips. You can choose to dine inside or out on Fitzroy Street, they offer a take away service if you choose as well. I can only imagine this place gets inundated with hungry, tipsy wanderers walking home from a night out over the weekend.

It is my considered opinion that it is easier and cheaper to buy a spit roasted chicken from one of these places than to do it yourself at home - much less cleaning up too. There are roast chicken places everywhere in Coburg - I don't know there are so many places roasting chickens in Coburg. I'd been here before; the adverts for Ionica Chicken attracted me to this place. It is also in the middle of the car park in Coburg's shopping district. The shop was clean and busy, with rows of chickens turning on their spits over the charcoal. There wasn't much room to sit down but most of the people were just sitting down waiting for their order to be completed, only one person was actually eating here. There was a good selection of salad and a generous portion of chips. Mission completed I went home to have lunch with the in-laws. Not much of the fine charcoal roast chicken survived the in-laws.

The twist seems to be their signature gluten free stuffing. Every chicken is well seasoned and stuffed with a ricey-barley type stuffing with vegetables. It was awesome. We scooped out the lot and mixed it up with some spinach and slaw to make our own side salad, as by the time we arrived (dinner time, about 6.30-7ish) the pre-made salads were looking really sad and sparse. Our own knock up was pretty good, so we were happy. Speaking of salads, there are heaps on the menu but that seems to be for the lunch crowd. At dinner they aren't replenished and there was only two left. They were ok to make up a fresh Greek Salad, but that was about it. But back to the chicken and chips...that's what you really need out of a good chicken shop and this place delivered. The rosemary-salted chips were fresh, crunchy and moorish. The service was really friendly and I would definitely come back here if I had a hankering for chicken and chips. I'd probably use the stuffing in my own salad again too because that was taaasty.

Don't expect the pickle condiments, pita bread and amazing garlic sauce!! Anyway, the chicken here is moist and tasty, the stuffing is also ace. Chips are also made very well. They have a huge selection of salads - I have not had a chance to try any but am told they are also very good. So yeah, if you're about in the area and are after some pretty good chips and chicken that's not nandos then come here
