Before I go any further, please know, I have NEVER posted a bad review like this about a place, particularly one that targets a specific individual. I worked many years in customer service, several as a manger of a fast food establishment. I GET it. Sometimes there are bad nights, sometimes everything just goes wrong and customers are mad at you and there is nothing you can do. I try so hard to give everyone grace and be as understanding and kind as I can. But nothing, NOTHING gives anyone the right to treat my mother and I as we were treated tonight. Here is our story (or at least the basic outline, I'll spare you the worst of it): First, after placing our order online and showing up at the time that we were told our order would be ready, we were told it wasn't ready yet and parked. No problem, that happens, but after 30 minutes of waiting in the car with my 1 and 3 year old children, I tried calling the store to check on things. I was literally told by a kid that he didn't know what happened, and couldn't help me. I finally I had to tell him to please go check on my order, was placed on hold, and after 10 more minutes decided to go inside, where I patiently waited behind 6 other frustrated people who had been waiting a long time for their orders. When it was finally my turn, the apparent manager at the counter couldn't seem to find my order. I'm pretty sure the issue was she was looking through carry out orders and not finding me because it was a drive thru order, but as I tried to explain this and speak to her about it, I was literally told to shut up. When I expressed to her that I was not thrilled with her customer service and please, I just either need my order or a refund, she decided she just was not going to help me at all. She proceeded to ignore me and my mother who also tried to come and get service, and was crazy rude and disrespectful for an HOUR. My husband finally had to drive to their store to help my Mom, while I took our kids who were starving, crying, and very traumatized at this point, to Wendy's to get some food. It took them CALLING the POLICE to finally get our money refunded. I am still just dumbfounded that someone could be so incredibly rude, particularly someone who is a manager of a business like this. It will sure be a very cold day in you know where before we EVER go back there.

My steak was 3/8" thick and done slightly more than medium. My impressions of the sides were as my wife's. We both said the seasoning was way overdone and needs to be cut back somewhat. The big complaint is no restaurant should ever serve a 3/8" thick steak. You cannot regulate the doneness as you can with a 1"+ cut of meat. As with the sides, the steak was over-seasoned. Service: Our waitress was pleasant and helpful, and seemed to be gunuinely happy. Food arrived in a normal span of time. Other: They are awaiting their liquor or beer/wine license. Suggestions: Cut back on the seasonings and serve a nice, thick cut of meat. This review is in no way meant to denigrate The Lantern Restaurant and Bar. It is meant as a critique for management review and consideration. I believe this place has real potential if they strive to offer excellent food.

They didn't have Coke Zero, and the only thing they had without sugar was Diet Coke (which they were out of). When they said they were out of Diet Coke, I asked my server what they had to drink that didn't have sugar. . .she got a puzzled look on her face, stared at me for a few seconds like that was a bizarre request, and then said water. She said she was going to go check, she went back and asked someone in the kitchen and confirmed that's it. Water. No other diet drink. No unsweetened tea. On that note, I got up and left. I figured that was a bad start to a meal and the attitude I dealt with in even asking discouraged me even more. If you were here looking to be calorie-conscious (or watching your sugar intake) with what you drank, they didn't have anything for you. . .and even asking got me some funny looks.
