I got a really nice picture frame here once for a friend's birthday. It was in the shape of a bird and I think it was less than $20 (from memory), so it ticked all the boxes really! I found the staff to be friendly and helpful and I was able to get the frame giftwrapped. Pomegranate is a good shop to have a browse in if you are in the village. It's worth a look for some gift giving inspiration!

Pomegranate is a lovely little gift store, in particular for the home. A few years back I bought a…read morelovely mohair throw from here, one that is actually mohair unlike cheaper ones sold elsewhere, I still have it and have my eye on a bright orange one they currently have in store. There is a great candle selection here too, as well as scents for the home and they do have some nice glassware too. They also stock some New Zealand made products such as ceramics from Jenz Studio which are hand crafted here. If you are after something a little different for your home or a gift for someone else Pomegranate is worth a look in.

This is where I come whenever I need another key cut (which does seem to happen more than it…read moreshould). They do it while you wait and it costs buggar all for a key in the colour of your choice. I know there are places all over the show now that do this sort of thing but these guys are The Pros. You can tell by the enormous shop that has everything from key chains to massive safes, and you can tell by the fact that they have several branches of the business including what I like to call the "oh shit I locked myself out" service. They do the whole lot - cars, keyless entry, padlocks, home automation systems, you name it. I really can't imagine why you'd go anywhere else for your security requirements. They're also nice blokes who (in my experience) don't act like sleazy tradies. It's sad but true that a lot of the traditionally "male" industries are still badly behaved but not so here.
