My realtors, Rick Melia and Amand Sculco from Keystone Reality were recommended to me through a friend. They "helped" me as a buyer's agent. After signing with them, I later found out that real estate was a part time job for the two of them and they both have full time jobs working in healthcare.
I am not happy with the much of the advice I was given with regards to the process. It seemed like Rick was more interested in making a sale weather it was in my best interest or not. He kept pushing us to make higher offers then we were comfortable with and would say something like the seller has other offers, so you need to keep upping the offer. Fear of missing out and high pressure was his sales approach.
Because he and Amanda have other full-time jobs things like appointments to see homes had to be scheduled around their real jobs. I also found communication was very poor and not what I expected, returning calls or texts were nonexistent or took much longer than is the norm.
The process also became personal and not a business deal because of the friend connection. I should have known better but was told not to worry, they would take care of our needs. Lesson learned. Looking back, I should have dropped them and worked with a full-time realtor.
The good news is we did find a home in a desirable location with good schools and most of what we were looking for despite being pressured to overpay. Looking back, I would never have signed with them if I had known this was a part time gig and they both had other full-time jobs.
