I want to start by saying that I have deep respect for Matt and Amanda because the two of them are extremely knowledgeable and very dedicated to their work. Because of their personal reputations I explored using their firm, however, the phone calls were initially not answered, then finally someone answered the phone and proceeded to tell me to first buy a $1500 online course, followed by a $4500 "package" which includes only an hour call with Amanda. Basically after $6000 upfront, you get to talk to the CPA. I'm baffled by whether this is a CPA firm or they are a digital education firm? Very confused. Needless to say, their business model is confusing, and I'm not sure I find value in $6000 of "stuff", when just need CPA services. read more

We have had the pleasure of taking the Keystone Strategic Tax Savings Program and have worked Amanda on some real estate tax planning. First the Strategic Tax Savings program: The course is laid out very well, with weekly bite-sized topics. Each week there is a series of videos and handouts. Also, there is a weekly live Q&A with Matt and Amanda. These have been amazingly valuable. I would say this is one of the best online courses I have taken. I've learned a lot that will help me save money on taxes and also structure my real estate business advantageously. We also have had some consultations by email and phone with Amanda on our specific situation. Friendly but there were issues getting in touch as well as receiving documents. I don't know if the new conference call standard is to have the prospective client call, but I missed that on the inquiry call. I didn't realize I was supposed to contact them. I sent an email following up and apologizing and asked why they didn't reach out to me when they didn't hear from me. We rescheduled and they would call me. It was supposed to be a 30 min call, but they called 27 minutes late so we talked for under a minute. They offered a free document I could read up on, but it took 2 months to send the link. I had already moved on at that point. Hopefully the service would improve if you actually became a client because from my experience, I would definitely NOT recommend their services. They are either too busy or just don't seem to care. read more

I was with this company since 2013 then had some personal issues last year that prevented me from working with them. I asked Amanda in January if they've already sent the Agreement/Engagement Letter for me to avail their services. She said I should receive it in two to three weeks. I did not receive anything so I e-mailed her again then just told me that she did not realize that I am not in the roster anymore since they did not do my previous year taxes. She said they are in capacity and will not be able to help with my taxes this year, flat out. I would like to thank them for the number of years that they've helped me file my taxes with no problems. I would like to thank them more for turning me down without any option. Because of that I found a company who even though I am new and already late in their calendar filing gave me different options to avail their services. It is a well respected company with more professional CPAs and fees are hundreds less than Keystone. I was devastated when they turned me down as I thought I was valued more than a business income. read more

While I am very reticent about giving 1 stars (and have written only a few of them) this place truly deserves it. I bought their book and heard them on a podcast - bigger pockets so I was looking forward to hiring them. I had set up a "virtual appt" at their request for 2 weeks out. I was to call to Ivoire at promptly 11:00am, I did so, but just got VM. I left a message asking her to return my call or at least let me know how late she's running.....still never heard from her. Clearly they don't need the business because any company that does a "no show" or a "no cancel" doesn't appreciate their customers. As a busy professional - I make a point of respecting other peoples time as I know how important mine is.Unfortunately they rec'd a lot of publicity from BP's podcast and haven't been able to keep up with the demand. Would not recommend - as important as taxes are - I wouldn't want to chance the lack of follow-through. read more

Don't waste your time. After hearing Amanda on the Bigger Pockets podcast (she sounded very knowledgeable), I wanted to give Keystone a try. I have tried 3 times to set up an appointment. They do NOT even pick up their phone during business hours. I have called several times over the course of 3 weeks and have never reached a live person. They prompt you to leave a message which I did 3 times and have still not received a call back. Save yourself some time and frustration and move on. Any business who treats people like this will probably end up jacking you anyway. read more

I originally contacted Keystone CPA a few years ago when I discovered them via BiggerPockets. My CPA at the time basically became non responsive once I started asking him about using my retirement to invest. I reached out to Keystone and spoke with a gal named Ivoire and she was super helpful even discussed some innovative ideas for me at that time. I felt so relieved to finally speak with someone who not only wanted to help but who understood where I was trying to "go". At that point I was behind on filing my 2016 taxes bc I had decided to not allow my old CPA to file so unfortunately that was not a service Keystone could assist me with at that time. Ivoire was very kind in letting me know and gave me a referral to another CPA who could at least file for me and she encouraged me to contact her back once the return was filed so that keystone could work with me for planning and then file next year's returns also. Fast Forward to last week when I received my finalized return from my existing tax preparer -which I ended up using my Aunt and Uncle's CPA for the past couple of years bc they have a lot of real estate too and that was NOT the best idea- I know im not the most knowledgeable about taxes but even I was able to see some huge mistakes that basically totals to nearly $90k in taxes owed!! My CPA clearly was NOT knowledgeable in the ways I'd been led to believe especially when something basic like Depreciation was missed!! In a moment of sheer despair I reached back out to Keystone CPA. It was the best feeling having Ivoire answer my call I never forgot how kind she was the first time I called over 3 years ago! They are quite the capitalists and list all of these books you can buy through them -- never seen that on a CPAs website before. I think both of these places have been incredible investments for me and I have learned so many interesting things. She is always willing to teach and she sounds up-to-date with the most current updates in tax law. I was looking for someone who could teach me financial and tax education. For our regular meetings, I usually come up with an agenda or a set of questions that I gather up over the week(s). We open with various niceties and personal updates, and then she patiently reviews my concerns and questions. If I have follow-up questions, she helps me understand the answers. Our regular calls vary between 30 to 60 minutes.
