Mount Rushmore
This…read moreis a must stop for every citizen / patriot. The carved rock with the four presidents - George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln, is an undeniable edifice in stone of what these great men stood of, and on what the foundation of United Nation of America laid on. Current situation- they and their principles seem to be a forgotten chapter in history, what would they say today .... while I flip through my own pages of memory, this question keeps coming back again and again.
the Memorial Park is is surrounded by tall trees, meandering trials to walk, a gift shop and a viewing area. There is plenty of parking, but I remember, when we had visited, it was still almost full, even such a big parking was almost full, that's the kind of magic this place has, it attracts thousands of tourists every every year.
There is the carving ofcourse, but the nature around is astounding. It is not regarded so, but it is a great place for fall as well. Located inside the scenic Black Hills forest, it provides a rather unusual and mysterious backdrop of tall evergreen trees, taller granite, all intercepted with the oaks and birchs etc, which change color. Just make sure to visit in the right season- its magical, its UNexplored as a destonation for fall so you have more than one benefit for that insta page.
The place in general is rooted in Native American history, so if you are fan of their products, this definitely is a place to shop. Not just that, to also learn about their history, and war heroes, etc.
There was just sooo much more to Mount Rushmore than the carving. I did not have enough time to explore, as it was just a passing stop before our final destination in a different state, hence, mixed feelings, happy got to stop at such a significant place, and also a little sad that could not spend more time.
