Because of this, there was a fair amount of work that was needed to put their financial affairs in order. All the financial institutions I worked with were more than accommodating (walking me through the process, helping prepare the necessary documents...), all that is except US Bank. The best term I have for explaining their behavior is obstructionist. Andrew, the individual I worked with on unfortunately numerous occasions, appeared to take pleasure in finding errors or missing document, without providing instructional input on how to change, and sending me on my merry way to correct things, despite knowing I was from out of state and on a time crunch. His response, as well as that of the managers (who as others have noted makes an excellent wingman for Andrew), was that they are not lawyers and don't do this. Thank God the other financial institutions I worked with did not have that same attitude. With all the other banks and branches available in Newberg, I would suggest that there are numerous better options for banking than US Bank. Dr. David Sundin

My sister and her father we "helped" by Isabel Segura who claimed to not be able to notarize a DS 3053 because of the form of ID they presented. They were told that she wasn't going to do it - luckily we found another notary to help us out, confirming that the CID is in fact a valid form of ID. Upsetting interaction.

Our Chase bank is located in the grocery store. Their staff has always been friendly and my…read moreparents (before my Dad passed) and since then my Mom has had her account there. When my Dad passed away 2 years ago they had a PO box which was removed from the account when the box was closed in 2018. About 2 weeks ago my Mom's ATM/Debit card stopped working. We went to the branch to deal with getting a replacement. This is when things got frustrating. First, when we were there the branch's computers weren't working. They would go on to order the card and it would go to a gray screen. My Mom is not the most technical and doesn't have a smartphone so she relies on the branch and ATM card to do her banking. We were told the only way we could get it was to order it online. We also checked with the bank to see where the card would be sent and they assured us it was the new address. I was able to get into my Mom's online banking account per the instructions of the branch. I ordered a new card but it never appeared. We finally went back to the bank and they said "oh, it was shipped to your PO Box". This was after we had been told that address was removed and assured it would go to the new address. They then insisted on charging my mom $5 to "speed up" the replacement card. This is after the bank caused this issue with non-working computers and shipping to the wrong address. $5 for my Mom who is on a fixed income is a big deal. The bank refused to waive the fee. I'm going to be working with my Mom to switch to a new bank on down the road. While they have always been friendly they created a situation and then charged us to fix it. There are a lot of great banks in Oregon. Unfortunately this Chase branch just isn't one of them. And it seems the problem is created by their policy, not their people.

I have been w/River since 1984, when it was still called Safeway Portland CU. Over the years it has been nothing but great. Their interest rate on loans is WAY under regular banks, and its fee structure is as such that I haven't paid a fee to them in decades. I learned long ago to avoid loyalty to any business that takes my money. But Rivermark is worth my loyalty. You have access to a live employee by video during hours M-F 8am-8pm and Sat 10am-6pm. Outside of those hours you can use the Walk-In ATM as a regular ATM. It's a secure entrance, using your debit card to get in and it's completely enclosed. There's no branch here, but the Kiosk ATM works great, and you can do probably about anything that you could do at a regular branch during the hours when a live employee is available by video. I highly recommend Rivermark Community Credit Union not just for this great technology, but also for their 2% interest checking. It's hard to beat that!

Our new credit union treats us what sometimes feels like royalty, and Columbia did nothing but give us the polar opposite. I should also add that unlike most banks, they don't even offer Saturday hours. It must be nice to live in their alternative world, but it shouldn't and won't be with OUR money.
