The wine is lovely and there are real ales on tap. Through to the restaurant area, it is nicely decorated, warm and spacious with another fire. The service is attentive and friendly and the menu changes regularly and has lovely hearty food all at reasonable prices. I can particular recommend the burger - although the wedges are spicy! All in all, a lovely bar and restaurant, worth the drive out of town for. There is plenty of parking and it is kid friendly. I hope you like it as much as I do!

However, it does have a fairly nice atmosphere, it is cosy and comfertable. Staff are always friendly and cheerful. The food is good traditional 'pub grub' and is of an excellent value and good quality. There is a private function room which is not great - the toilets are in desperate need of decoration and it is often cold and the carpets are unclean. There is plenty of car parking in the private car park and there is a nice play park for kids if you bring them here.

Just eaten here for the first time and the food is absolutely wonderful. Proper Italian home cooked food. First class. It may take a while to recover the poor reputation because of the previous owner but this is just not the same place. Cannot praise highly enough. Finally a restaurant close to Westhills that serves real food instead of the usual junk. Highly recommend to anyone who loves real food!

And for those of you who don't know your Scottish Cities and their Pubs, allow me to clarify - It's ICONIC!! So, things you need to know, firstly they are rumoured to have the largest Whisky selection in Scotland (RUMOURED). I mean it is ridiculous, I'm sure if a fire started here it would blow up half of Union Street and said explosion could be seen from the Moon. So if you like your Whisky then this is a must visit pub. Secondly, this pub is older than you will ever be, My dad drank here when he was 5, and now he is 80, and people drank there before he was born. It's so old that they had to install ladies toilets a while back as there weren't any - and ladies are allowed to drink alongside men these days! Lastly, it might look like a dump outside, but don't mistake dump for character. This has more character than Monty Python. The floor clearly used to be strewn with sawdust back in the days, and some of the staff have seen more than their fair share of breakfasts - but that all adds to the experience. The experience here is guaranteed to be memorable for all the right reasons!

It is bloody long. The bar is also bloody long. By the way, it is pub and not a Grill. They decided to turn it from a restaurant to a pub around 1900 and never got around to changing the name. Let us get down to the essentials. This is about whisky and pilgrims and Scotland and finding places with a lot of bottles of the aforementioned. Well the Grill has it. 500 bottles. Let that number sink in. One dram a day. After spending a year performing that activity and you have not finished. They have some of the oldest drams on sale anywhere in the world - a 1938 Macallan, Several 1930 Malts and the legendary Black Bowmore. Voted in "Bar of the Year" in 2008 by Whisky Magazine and staffed with folks with Whisky expertise. If you do not like Whisky, then grab an ale and soak in the amazing architecture of this place. CAMRA has named this place as the most northerly Scottish "Pub Interior of Outstanding Historic Interest". So much to offer, you cannot lose by visiting this place. Pilgrims Ho!

At around 9:00 we were told that we were being cut off (no more service). So I asked the management: Had we been rude? No. Had we upset other customers? No. Were any of our party of four staggering around and overly intoxicated? No. So why were we cut off? "We have a duty of care - company rules". Ok. Understood. But what duty of care is required for people who are not overly intoxicated? "It's just the rules. Thanks for your custom. See you soon". No you won't, Prince of Wales. After 40-50 years, we won't be back. This is a sad day.

A couple non-connected rooms, I wasn't sure which one to walk into. The first one I went into was a double bar-type setup and it was crowded. No place to sit, so I went to the other side and it was more of a restaurant layout (with a bar too). It was crowded too, but there was room for me, so I copped a squat at a table. I arrived too late for the food so I ended up just having a few beers. There were families there, a good mix of clients. TVs everywhere with football/soccer on. Didn't get the chance to go back on that trip, but will on my next visit. All in all, a fan!

It takes a long time to get drinks out here in the country and I'm not sure why. There were 3 waitstaff for the 7 tables and while the food came out like clockwork, drinks were slow to come by. We got our first set of drinks before dinner and were able to sip them during our meal. I was really excited about dessert and we ordered the cranacan and the sticky toffee pudding. My husband ordered an old fashioned and I ordered a glass of wine, but they weren't delivered until well after dessert was concluded. We even considered canceling the final drink order until our server informed us that the drinks were being made just then, and yet we still had to wait another 10 minutes before we got the drinks. In total we waited about 30 minutes for the 2nd round of drinks and by then we just wanted to leave. The restaurant itself is quaint and cozy with a nice loca feel. And once again, be sure to set a reservation in advance.
