For a solo trip it was little nerve racking but loved the excitement! The bus I took from Miami to Key West dropped us here & also picked us up here. So we had (I think) 4 -6 hours to finish the tour & I knew there is no way I would be able to do it by foot on a sunny day! So I booked one the trolly tours ! Let me tell you if you are not planning on staying overnight here then this is your best bet ! I wish I could stay here for longer, should have stayed overnight. Because I didn't plan ahed, it was just a last minute spontaneous thing I decided day before my flight I had to come back to Miami to catch my flight! Would I come back again, if I visit Miami then I would wanna watch the music festival they have here! Maybe instead of staying in Miami I will just come straight here for a week, that sound interesting! So much to see here, too much good good . Altho there is not a single halal place here & I gotta stick with only fish & seafood ! Still it's a fun idea, Time will say .. So this place is pretty cool, loved the smell of water. Takes me back home! Lots of cool places to visit ? Some expensive yummy food lol. I can stay here for hours just taking pictures or videos! Tested some yummy strong coffees which I loved, and I remembered what the bus driver told us not to miss key lime pie & you know me I loveee sweet so I did tried. First time ever trying key lime pie & I loved it. Didn't realize how sweet it actually is & thought of becoming 16 again when I could eat sweet all day. I guss getting old isn't fun huh..!

Don't discount this place based how little it seems (especially since there is a popular, large…read morepark across the street). But this is also not a typical park, as there is no playground or typical park amenities. They do have free parking (convenient to the beach too). The park was named after Charles "Sonny" McCoy (former key west mayor for 5 terms and Monroe County Commissioner) The "Indigenous" portion of the park's name is the concept that this park was originally designed for. They wanted to protect the native species of trees from being destroyed and fully removed by developers, so around the park are a huge variety of trees. Okay, not exactly exciting stuff yet and not much of a reason for that 5 star rating. They have a Wildlife Rescue center and a wildlife trail; which the kids always love. What sold me on this place is the brand new BOCCE BALL courts (approximately 8 of them). I very much enjoy playing and finding a professional made court is very hard to find in Florida. Most parks in Broward and Palm Beach County only have grass courts and a couple on har-tru (like a tennis court) and couple are done on artificial grass (the worst). Also the majority of parks that do have them, do very minimal maintenance so the courts are usually in a state of deterioration. These courts are made professionally (I have never seen this quality level in any public bocce ball court within 200 miles (literally). They have composite boards (so no worries regarding wood rot), they have concrete walkways (including dips to hold the out of play balls, fully lit for night play, tons of local leagues and the course material is rock sand and clay (and the play surface is incredible) Be sure to check this place out

So, as far as Key West attractions go, this popped up because it was free and off the beaten path,…read moreliterally it's in a really nondescript off the main street where the beach and pier are. I found it because I wanted to see the Key West chickens and I hadn't seen any at the point and there were a few there that I would be guaranteed to see. Besides chickens though are a lot of local species that are kept for conservation and education. It's a small space but we had fun, particularly the myna bird which could talk and was cute would kick out eggs from other birds' nests so they could lay their own. Devious little guys. It's a short loop around and while not quite a zoo you can get pretty close to a lot of the animals here; the turtle pond in particular, those guys wake up really quickly when you make any hand or arm gesture. All in all, it's a good find and definitely a quirky little find in quirky Key West.

    Lola's Bistro - Amuse-bouche

Everything was outstanding as I had remembered it when I first fell in love with this place in 2020, starting with the amuse-bouche--perfect little bites that set the tone for the night. Toasted crostini topped with Roma tomato and mozzarella, paired with a slice of salami, cucumber, and cannellini beans tossed in a light vinaigrette--it was fresh, balanced, and just enough to whet the appetite. Next came a round of shared appetizers (the exact menu details escape me, but the experience certainly doesn't): scallops, lobster ravioli in a cream sauce, boneless quail in a sweet chili sauce, artichoke with mozzarella, and lobster tail. Every dish was memorable, but my favorites were the lobster tail, the impossibly tender quail with its subtly sweet sauce, and the perfectly cooked scallops. For my entrée, I ordered the filet mignon, medium rare, served atop a bed of house-made pearl couscous--rich, comforting, and executed beautifully. Dessert was a true smorgasbord of scratch-made creations from Chef Richard: lemon tart, pecan pie à la mode, baked banana caramel, a light and fluffy New York-style cheesecake, and a decadent chocolate cake. We each took two bites before passing the plate to the right, repeating until nothing remained. The standout for me was the crustless cheesecake--airy, delicate, and utterly perfect. Rett provided an outstanding experience, honest suggestions for us, and even offered club soda with lemon for my son's upset stomach from the tedious red eye plane flight (should have booked Lola's later in our trip instead of the day we got here) so that he could be able to better enjoy his meal with us. All in all evening of incredible food, shared plates, and even better company, exactly how dining should be.

Two of us had the pork chops which were very flavorful and cooked perfectly. One had the pompano fish which was really spectacular, and the 4th person had the ribeye steak which was also delicious.
