Justin came out to troubleshoot a problem with our heat pump/furnace system that had been installed by another HVAC contractor earlier this year. The original contractor had come out but did not resolve the issues which included improper date/time readings at the thermostat and no automatic switchover of the heat pump to the furnace and vice versa at a predetermined outdoor temperature. Justin determined that the outdoor sensor had not been set up properly on the heat pump, and that the thermostat needed an app so that it would read proper date and time as well as proper outdoor temperature so that the equipment switchover would work properly. I was very satisfied with Justin's professionalism and thoroughness in diagnosing and fixing the issues we had with our HVAC system. I am very pleased with the results and would recommend Key HVAC to my family and friends. read more

I scheduled maintenance for my on demand water heater and forced air furnace. The employee showed up without the proper equipment to do any of the work I requested. I had to provide the vinegar to clean out the water heater. He also did not have the proper hoses to perform the flush out on the water heater, I had to drag one of my dirty lawn hoses so he could do the work. I find it hard to believe that they expect customers to drag dirty lawn hoses through their houses so their employees can do the work requested. They then claimed they didn't know anything about the furnace maintenance and would have to charge me more than the quote I was given over the phone. (Nice try, we all know shady companies love to pull things like this). So I told him to forget about it. I spoke with their office later that morning and the woman told me that their workers have small vans and can't have everything they need to do the work the customer requested. I told her I have never heard anyone say that. She confirmed that they can't be expected to have all the equipment and supplies required. Which, to be honest, I find hilarious. Be careful when using this company, I recommend you go other companies that take pride in their work and workers!!! read more

From the start of the process, this company exceeded our expectations. The initial walk through was thorough and professional, in determining the units we should include. The estimate was well prepared and clear about the cost and options available. The price they offered was the lowest of 3 competing quotes, and they offered the longest warranty on Samsung system we used. We were happy that they come with the lowest quote, and we were able to give them our business. The installation was done within 3 weeks and again was a clean and professional job. Marie, our salesperson monitored the job and answered any and all questions that came up. In short we would highly recommend working with Key, even if they don't come in with the lowest price, they will be worth the extra $ and get the job done right. Terrible experience. Over-priced and disorganized company. My gas furnace repair was simply changing a gas valve unit. ($100 part - $800 labor for 20 min change). Service tech gave me a quote and told me they would return on particular day. I heard nothing from Key Heating and finally after waiting 2 extra days I called and pretty much had to complain for the repairman to come. Once he was finished he tried to sell me a hot water heater. Probably because I accepted the outrageous repair quote. Finally ; It took 3 times to have the invoice corrected to the quoted price. Be very careful with this business Predatory comes to mind. Request for a furnace cleaning, easy to schedule, tech on time... however continued to state that new furnace was needed and that he "yellow flagged" categories and placed with pictures. Multiple requests made for "flags" and pictures however they were never given to us. Attempt by manager to sell us a new furnace without telling us what was wrong with our existing running one! "The cost for the parts would be more than a new furnace" I wish that I had read reviews prior to calling for an appointment. Don't even get me started on the PRICE of a cleaning. If you like making things last, call Key. They will make a weeklong furnace and AC condenser install in a house gutted to the studs take months. They will never bother you with calls. You will have to call them. Again. And again. If you want them to come back and finish, you will have to have your attorney on speed dial and be prepared to threaten. They will kindly store other people's furnace supplies (I mean tons) in your house. I built my biceps moving it many times to make room for my painter, dry wallers, and framers. Finally figured out it was excess. I asked them to come get it. Took them weeks and only after I put it outside. They sent a guy with a Honda Civic. Below is what was left after he picked it up. Oh yes. The most important part. Do not pay them until they are done. Once you pay (they called! and demanded the final payment), they won't be back for another month or whenever it's convenient for them, despite just a half day's work left. And, it's cold now. Nope, these people are not honorable. Or maybe they are lovely and just disorganized and incompetent. Who knows. We haven't been able to get them back to hook it up to the gas tank. read more

Very dependable if you need emergency service. However if you need any major parts ordered, be prepared to wait. Had to call them every three days to get an update on condenser coil, each time I got a reply of "We will call you when it comes in." That went on for a few weeks, and I finally got a very helpful person to actually call their distributor and figure out what was going on. Two days later I called again, since I didn't hear back. This time, she checked again and called me a few hours later. The part would be delivered by the end of the week, and they gave me an installation appointment for middle of the following week. At the installation, the technician was very knowledgeable and thorough. Now we have cold air, but waiting a month for the coil to arrive was wasted time. If they had made the effort to call their supplier earlier, I would have given 5 stars. read more

i have dealt with key for a number of years...BUT..in my recent need fir a new heating and on demand water heater it has been an expensive disaster . It took multiple service visits to get water heating system right ...even still some questionable code issues. Work crew had a conflict ridden relationship with my tennant... a problem for me. the replacement steam heating boiler was not installed properly. Manufacturers guidelines were not followed. External parts corroding and I had to pay for replacement but the piping and steam return systems were not to manufacturers standards. I have hired a local person who is experienced in steam heating to do major corrective repairs to my system. At a cost of $5k to comply with the manufacturers specs. I would never use these guys again! Ever! read more

This company is the best company that I've worked with in many years I was in the engineering field for 22 years and dealt with a lot of companies I've seen it all Key in my Professional opinion is one of the best companies out there professional clean They sent a representative name Linda that was fabulous she knew what she was talking about and that never happens I was so impressed because she was a girl lol just kidding she knew what she was talking about I received 4 estimates they were in the middle But because of Linda's knowledge I had a good feeling about them in being in the business for 22 years but I had to part ways with engineering because of an accident with a medical procedure I didn't tell any of the companies that I had experience with estimates and installation and Linda was right on the mark She helped me with the mass save rebate program documents which she did and it wasnt even part of thier estimate she did it because she's a kind and awesome person that like key goes over and beyond your expectation if you're looking for cooling and heating split system instalation and any other mechanical projects key is the company to go with trust me 100% The office staff that I spoke to leading to the estimate was so professional and helpful ( thank you rosie)you never see that anymore in any companies trust me go with key mechanical and you won't regret it this p.s I forgot to add this part this company doesn't play games there's no nickel and dimeing and forgetting stuff so you get hit with change orders to get extra money out of you, but not this company thier honest and straight forward read more

We were so excited about Key after looking through their website. They have a maintenance program which we were super excited about, we bought into it the same day we discovered them. We had our AC retrofitted into the house so the system is separate from our heat. We called with the hopes of fixing a faulty thermostat, consolidating thermostats, and rezoning. We were STOKED after our initial visit with Richard. He explained that our system was unique/complex but he assured us he would brainstorm with the team and get back to us. We got a phone call back from Tammy who was clearly reading from notes but had no idea what she was talking about in regards to our system. She was unable to answer any questions and just deferred to Richard...fine...except it has been over 3 months since our initial visit and we STILL have not been able to talk to Richard, which we paid for.  At our visit, Richard told us he would not recommend a new AC unit until ours broke...but Tammy told us we needed a new AC unit...okay.... We went through their sales department and had Tyler come out to look at our system. He agreed, a new system was not needed. He didn't understand why Tammy (or Richard) would have come to that conclusion. He assured me he would get back to us. He hasn't. It's been almost 2 months since he was here. We were ready to spend on literally whatever they recommended but we have been going in circles.  We loved Richard and Tyler....but communication apparently has to go through the middle man, Tammy--who seems clueless (and rude).  The only reason for the 2 stars is because 1. The technicians DO seem to be knowledgeable and we're helpful when here...we really wanted to work with them. and 2. They did give us a refund for the initial visit from over 3 months ago that we never got anything from (except a headache). I would recommend avoiding Key. OH, and our electrician installed/fixed the new thermostat for 1/4 of the price they quoted us (they said it would be $600 for a new thermostat...what a joke) read more

Jason showed up on time and quickly did the troubleshooting on my old AC unit. He explained that the breaker had tripped, potentially for either minor or major issues (which he explained). He recommended having an electrician check the breakers and junction box, as well as replacing the filter. Although I mentioned that we had recently bought the condo and expected to replace the old furnace & AC, he didn't try to push me into a hasty decision on buying a new system from Key. He did suggest speaking with their sales staff, and we will be sure to get their advice when ready to move forward. Jason was polite, explained the issues clearly, and very pleasant. read more

After getting estimates to install a central AC unit to our existing hot air system and installation of 4 Mitsubishi Hyper Heat cold climate heat pump units to our apartment units we selected Key HV/AC based on their presentation and solid estimate. A date was set for the install to begin and the crew showed as scheduled with all the units and equipment to begin and complete our job. At the end of each day the crew cleaned up and gave us an update on the installation progress. There were some issues with the install due to our structure and the crew worked it out and got the job done as outlined. The wall units look great and really do the job! We were very impressed on how well the crew worked together doing the work. There were no added costs and the job was completed to our satisfaction. It was a pleasure to work with a vendor that stood by their estimate. Again, I have to say how good the install crew were. We highly recommend Key for your heating and AC needs. I have had somewhat mixed results with Key Heating; some good, some not so good. My last experience with Richard was one of the positive ones. It's not the quality of the service that I've had problems with, its the communications within the company that have left me frustrated, to the point where I've considered looking for someone else to provide my service requirements. We chose Key because it was a large existing corp. Unfortunately they had very poor internal communications and made several installation errors, including the water drain into the house- not out and mess up the wires so the control for one mini-split actually controlled the other. Although they promised to fill out the rebate for me - they just notified me that I had to. We liked the Mitsubishi, so when we had a mini-split installed two months later in our other house, we had Crown Mechanical install a three unit system. That install went perfectly. My advice - forget Key and use Crown Mechanical. read more

Key HVAC provided our annual service cleaning in October 2016.The inexperienced technician from Key was at our house for three hours and the standard fee for the service was $299. About 10 months later (last week) our furnace began to smoke and stopped working. A technician from another company was able to come take a look at it and in an hour had the furnace operational- saying that the furnace needed to cleaned. Key HVAC is blaming the problem on sludge in the oil. While its not possible to know for certain what caused the problem, I would warn against using this company for annual furnace cleanings. read more

What a ripoff!! Key Heating and Air Conditioning was recommended as a "Pro Installer" or nest thermostats. I was having trouble installing it myself and Nest recommended that I have it professionally done. I called Key Heating and told them the trouble I was having and if it was compatible with my system. They asked me if I had a "common blue wire" to the thermostat, I said I did. They told me that it was compatible and quoted me for $85 for the install. The technician showed up late and I had to run back to work while my wife was there with him. I spoke with him on the phone and he told me that it was not compatible but he would look into changing the board on the boiler to make it compatible. The technician told my wife he would only be charging us for a service call which was $128.00, Geeze thanks!!! I called the company to inquire what had happened. I questioned about my call when I set up the appointment and was told that they were call takers and not technicians. I told her that the woman I spoke with when I set up the appointment seemed knowledgeable about the system and assured me that it was compatible. The woman I spoke with today was rude and did not want to hear it. I understand that it wasn't compatible and need a part to make it compatible but the service fee exceeded the install quote, which still confuses me. If your looking to have a nest thermostat installed stay away from this company, you WILL get ripped off. read more
