Eli knew exactly what I meant when I asked for a beautifully symmetric diamonds and not crushed ice. We vibed right away. He has great taste and knows what a beautiful diamond looks like from an ugly one. Because let me tell you, there are a lot of ugly diamonds out there and there are many brokers who will try to convince you that they're pretty! I also really appreciated that he didn't ask what my budget was like so many other places. He focused on finding me not one, but two perfectly matched pairs of diamonds for studs. All of the other places wouldn't show me more than one pair. And you know what? I took both pairs because they were both so perfect I couldn't let them go! Other places told me it was impossible to find 2 old mine cushion cut matching diamonds but Eli did it. And he did it in like 2 days! He called me and kept me updated. When he showed me the diamonds he was super patient as I studied each one. There was never, at any point any sales pressure. My engagement ring was a relatively thin platinum band, and they had warned us that the band would be malleable due to the material. However, I didn't realize how malleable it could get until after I began wearing it. I was so set on choosing platinum because I figured it would be the easiest and most low maintenance material. The band kept losing its shape any time I wore it. It began driving me insane because I needed to come in and get it fixed almost every 4-8 months (depending on how frequently I was wearing it). I started to get anxiety everytime I wore my engagement ring because I was so afraid of it losing shape. I began to wear it less and less and stuck to my wedding band (which is white gold--lesson learned) only. I was also too afraid to go to any other jeweler near where I lived to get the ring fixed because I truly only trusted Bridal Ring's team. Finally, I was done feeling afraid and decided to switch the band entirely. I explained to Zoe, an associate at Bridal Ring & explained the situation. We discussed the different options and ultimately we determined I wanted to switch my band to the lowest maintenance metal I could without losing the integrity and design I initially had. Zoe and the team were so kind. They came up with an idea to switch the band to a yellow gold band & solder my platinum prongs with my diamond onto it. Sure, the edges of the jewlery piece was oxidizing, but that doesn't mean the actual chain is fake. She was looking at me like I had no idea what I was talking about. After dropping my simple gold wedding band off with the promise of a 1 hr turnaround at $125 to have it sized down (he tried to charge $150), I came back 90 minutes later and the ring had clearly not been touched yet. I shared that I'd spent the last 90 minutes researching online and at other shops in the jewelry market and had learned that this service should cost no more than $50. Some places charge as low as $20. I asked Sam politely what the reason was for the steep price difference. He talked about how much time and care went into sizing the ring, and how he used only the best materials so that the cut would be completely invisible. To demonstrate, he began showing me the process, which reinforced my suspicion that when I walked back into the store, he had not yet begun work on my ring. 10 minutes later Sam was done - the work was good, but the seam was indeed visible. After a conversation the price came down to $100. I'm happy, the work is no better or worse than any I have had done before. But be warned that he clearly upcharges for his charm (he's very sweet and complimentary) and generosity (he did a sonic clean on my engagement ring for free). If you want a deal this is not the place. But it's fine otherwise! Not gonna get scalped but not the most price sensitive option if you're in the jewelry district.

One of my really good friends asked me to go engagement ring shopping with him so obviously I said yes... even though I didn't know jack shii about rings other than what the "4Cs" stood for. That being said, I am so glad that our first stop was Kevin's Gems. Liz helped us narrow down what exactly my friend should be looking at when purchasing a diamond. She was very patient in explaining and educating us on diamonds beyond the known "4Cs" e.g. symmetry, fluorescence, BL, etc. She also showed us how to inspect diamonds. They were pleasant to work with and they didn't pressure us to buy anything that instant. What I appreciate the most is that if you buy a diamond from them and then return for another "upgrade" purchase, they will buy the original diamond back from you at the same price. How cool is that! Although we didn't buy a diamond from here, I would definitely recommend stopping by, especially if you don't really know what you're doing. I contacted Amin Jewelers and spoke to Amin about the situation. My wife sent him pictures of my wedding rings because I really liked the design. He set up a private time to meet with me to get my ring size. I had seen some of Amin's work on Instagram, but I had never worked directly with him or his company. Within a few days, Amin made the ring looking identical to my wedding ring which fits my finger perfectly. My original wedding ring used to make my finger itch and it was very annoying. This new ring feels great, it's a perfect size and I truly love it. I hope my wife doesn't read this, but I am happy I lost the old one because I now have a more comfortable ring that doesn't make my finger itch. I used many other jewelers and casting studios in DTLA and there is a reason I have been faithful to these guys for 13 years. They are beautiful people who won't take advantage of you, will find you the best deal possible on the perfect center stone for you, and create BEAUTIFUL, HIGH QUALITY work to showcase it. And they stand behind it. That sort of customer service is invaluable. I primarily create custom engagement rings and wedding bands, so you know if you have a happy return customer for life, that's a great indicator! They also have many beautiful designs of their own, if you are not into creating your own custom fine jewelry. Do yourself a favor and take the elevator up to 5.
