As a veteran who came back from Iraq in 2004, I've been through the wringer trying to get straight answers and real help with my VA benefits. Most of the time, it feels like you're just getting bounced around or handed off with a "we'll get back to you." That wasn't the case here.
I sat down with the Veteran Service Officer -- Kevin -- and for the first time, someone actually took the time to go through all of my service treatment records with me. We spent over 40 minutes going through everything line by line, and even after all that, he still had time to process my claim right then and there. No "come back next week," no "we'll call you" nonsense -- just real work, done on the spot.
The best part? He didn't fill me with false hope. He gave it to me straight but still made me feel like something was actually going to happen this time. That alone means a lot. After years of being told to "just wait on the VA," I finally feel like I've got someone in my corner who knows the system and cares enough to do it right.
