I recently spent time at Kettering Medical Center while my mom was having surgery, and I have to say, this place goes above and beyond the "typical hospital" experience. The surgery went very well (huge relief), and every single staff member we encountered was supportive, kind, and genuinely friendly. Hospitals can be stressful places, but the people here do an amazing job of making you feel cared for and not just like "Patient #342B." The facility itself is spotless and surprisingly warm for a hospital setting. It doesn't feel cold or sterile, it almost feels like more than a hospital, like a place designed to comfort as much as it heals. There are plenty of waiting areas, good signage so you don't get lost in a maze of hallways, and even a cafeteria in the basement (Cafe on the Boulevard) for when you need a break and a burger. On a personal note, I was here 15 years ago to give birth to my daughter, and it's remarkable how much the center has improved since then. They've continued to grow, modernize, and somehow get even better at what they do. If you're looking for a hospital that combines top-notch medical care with a team of people who treat you with genuine kindness, Kettering Medical Center is it. No one wants to spend time at a hospital, but if you have to, this is a pretty great place to be. read more

"Dr" Marcus Sinewe is completely incompetent. After I explained in detail how and when my symptoms presented, he ran meaningless tests without ever taking the ten minutes necessary to duplicate the conditions and see what I was talking about. He then called me a liar because he was too dumb to do anything useful. I asked for a supervisor and he told he didnt have any and that he was God. I was also visited by "Dr" Wenn. This "person" lied to me at least three times, that's just the ones I caught him in. I was discharged against my will, both Mr. Wenn and Mr. Sinewe, who have no business anywhere near a medical license, played the same game with me. They kept asking me over and over to send me home I kept saying no. Mr. Sinewe like a complete child actually fast walked out of the room while muttering can I send you home ok ok running out of earshot so he could pretend I was okay with it. I received life saving care later from another physician, so they probably thought they did right sending me away because I made it, but they just got lucky that someone else saved me. Marcus is punch-drunk on his own power but he doesn't even have average intelligence. I don't know where they get these clowns, and Mr. Wenn with all of his lies I don't understand why the hospital trains them to lie so much. There is NO way the hospital doesn't sanction it, obviously he lies to everyone so they have to know about it. I have given my family instructions to NEVER take me this hospital again, no matter what my condition is. They are to drive me to Miami Valley, where I hope to find an honest doctor with at least average intelligence, since none can be found at Kettering Medical Center. read more

When I was younger I would have given them a 5 star rating, Being old and sick I've come to the conclusion that they look at me like an old car, not worth the time or effort. The gaslighting is incredible. This goes for all the affiliates tied into the system. "We won't fix this, (a life saving procedure), until you take 4 of the same kind of medicine. Doctors that give amthamines to heart patients. ER doctors that can't tell the truth to save their souls and act like you are disturbing their chat sessions. You're fine, when in reality you are literally dyeing before their eyes. Plus to top it all off, they are cruel enough to let me suffer without palliative care. read more

My mom fell again and ended up in the hospital for the 3 days and then kicked out because she could walk to the bathroom by herself. Its such a joke, she was in so much pain and had no idea that there were going to send her home and she wasn't ready, her words!! They changed all her meds again-EVEN though everything is in MY CHART! WHY won't the doctors read it?!!! SO disgusting!! I had to ask the nurses to switch it all back and my mom kept telling the doctor that she didn't take this or that and he just kept prescribing meds that she wasn't even on!! NO MORE PILLS!!! TOO MANY SIDE EFFECTS!! I am thankful that they checked her out and nothing broken, just bruised but this Drive-through medical services are such a joke! I am so disgusted with our SICK model of health care and the lack of common sense! The nurse in the ER put in a straight Cath and really HURT her to the point she was screaming but they didn't stop. I think they need to be retrained and more gentle! It was so heart breaking and stressful!! I wonder if she would do the same to her own family member? I think not, but??? Now that we are home she has a UTI!! I won't ever go there again with any family member!! I wish we could find a WELL doctor, one that wants you to stay healthy and WONT prescribe a pill!! I am praying that we NEVER have to go to a hospital again!!! read more

I wish I could give it 10 stars. My spouse just had a full knee replacement and the medical staff, and the office staff were absolutely phenomenal. From the moment we came for a consultation a week ahead of the procedure, through all the steps pre and post op, they couldn't have been more attentive, helpful, or accommodating to us. Many thanks to Dr. Daniel Dunaway and his team for the amazing work. If you are in the area and need any type of orthopedic work done, I couldn't recommend it more highly. My 90-year-old mother was denied follow up care today by Nurse Practitioner Penny Drazer, despite having made this apt a month ago after a stay at Kettering Hospital. We were told one day prior to arrive early for a "wellness visit" -- we clarified this was not a wellness visit, but a follow-up for cognitive decline after a serious UTI and hospital stay. We went previously for a 1-issue only appointment and told to come back for other issues so we did. We were turned away for being only a few minutes late, even though this appointment was for a medically vulnerable senior. Nurse Drazer came into the waiting room and raised her voice at both me and my mother in front of others -- behavior I found unprofessional and upsetting for my elderly mom. This experience delayed important follow-up care and showed a lack of compassion for an elderly patient. I plan to file a formal complaint with the Ohio Board of Nursing. read more

Well spoke too soon. Unfortunately didnt save the life after all. They focused on getting his oxygen stats up and addressing heart issues. They knew he coded before arriving and it was weeks before they did an Eeg to assess brain activity. So we were told he was improving but he was already gone just being kept alive with machines and tubes. This blindsided us ..gave false hope and prolonged the stress for everyone. I dont think it was malicious ...this is normally a great facility. The staff were all very kind but feel this time .. it was missed. By the way .. even in summer bring a jacket they keep it FREEZING. read more

Terrible care both in Emergency Department and Trauma unit. When take your dog to the vet or your car to your mechanic, they at least care and do their job, and don't charge you a hyper inflated astronomical amount to do it. Don't take your loved ones there. read more

How could I be the first to review? This place is huge. And growing everyday. I remember when it was a single building cause I was a Candy Striper here...love when a football player got hurt and I got to feed him dinner. Ah...memories. Spent too much time here recently. Family in intensive care, regular hospital and then rehab. Several small "procedures" (remember when we used to refer to the as surgeries?)EVERYONE was professional and caring. And I've spent some time here over the years...beginning with childbirth! Yes, they been around awhile. Driving up at Christmas time the beautiful lighting really cheered me up and calmed me down. Dining choices are fine...you won't starve. My favorite is the coffee shop...they gave me a cookie one morning. I was pitiful. I highly recommend if you need to be here. My wish is that you don't ...avoid at all costs! read more

Dr. Bahga is one of the best doctors in Ohio. Kettering is a great hospital . She took care of my mom and is a wonderful person and doctor.

I was taken by squad to Kettering emergency room, barely able to move or breathe and freezing cold on December 17th. My all over body pain was horrible as well. I'm so happy my Fiancee chose Kettering ER as I was not very aware of my surroundings, even at the time. After continuing the squads work of getting my breathing under control many tests were run and they quickly found that both of my lungs were full of blood clots and there was a very dangerous one in my pulmonary artery that was just HUGE and saddled across both of my lungs. Of ourse when I got there all of my vitals were quite off as well. They were just amazing the whole time, and explained everything incredibly well. Everyone from the Nurses, to techs to Doctors were amazing and they kept me and my Fiancee as comfortable as possible until my admittance to ICU that night. I'm so very greatful. ICU staff was incredible, the hospitalists were so kind and took time to talk to me and explain literally everything I needed to know. Nurses, techs, doctors, even dietary staff, social workers and chaplain were all just phenomenal at what they did for me. My surgery was done in short time by Dr Nazir (who pretty much performed a miracle) and his team. I was awake but heavily sedated. The entire team explained things to me and kept me as comfortable as possible during the procedure. Thank you so much! My stepdown for recovery in ICU went surprisingly well and I have to say those guys are all wonderful as well Shout-out to Melanie for not making me bathe in front of a male NA ( who was great at his job but I'm pretty modest ) Kettering hospital saved my life! read more

The only issue I have is once you are admitted from the emergency room to the hospital, you are left in the emergency room for hours, and no one attend to your needs. When I was in pain, the emergency room nurse told me that they had to check with the physician I was assigned to in the hospital. She stated she could no longer care for me. That is unacceptable! finally, I was taken back to emergency surgery and went through the same ordeal and was left in pain until I came home and had pain medicine for my previous surgeries. This is ridiculous to leave people in pain! I do not give a shit what the federal government says! I was transferred to the Main Campus from the Troy Kettering Health. My stay was okay .. But the one nurse I had on my last day was TRULY AMAZING.. Her name is Courtney Boggess RN.. She went above and beyond.. was truly the only one who listened to my concerns and got me taking care of and also got my discharged.. I started with what was a UTI.. they ran all kinds of test and MRI for other issues which they found NONE.. But when I told Courtney the situation she got me what I needed and got my treated me for the issue I was coming to and got me the right medication. She had helped me get a ride back to Troy Ohio and help get my prescriptions from pharmacy before my Lyft driver came.. read more

Was taken to Kettering by squad and straight to CT scan where someone took out some diamond earrings that I had in and did not ever get them back. I have been talking to some one who states no one does not remember taking them out and I had them in on 1/21 and not in on the CT from 1/22. I will never see them again. Spent several hours here while my dad had surgery. We were on the first floor for surgery only. First visit ever. The nurses were very kind and helpful. The waiting area was clean with lots of chairs, couches, and other seating otptions. There were also plugs for phones/tablets etc. a beautiful water walk offers some relaxation. We were at the hospital early for same-day surgery. We ordered coffees from an impressive list of options. I had an Iced Milky Way with almond milk-highly recommend! Even a plain old cup of coffee had several options! We also went back later for some bake goods. The aroma that filled the room from the cafe was amazing. If you didn't come hungry, you would be soon! The restrooms were super clean and close to the desk (if you're waiting to go see a patient)! It is flu season so make sure to take precaution when coming and remember that kids under 14 aren't allowed. The parking garage says it's $3 per day so make sure to bring cash. I can't say enough good things about this hospital. When your patient is flgoin gtheough surgery, there is a board to follow with numbers identifying each person. You can see what stage of surgery the doctor is on and if you do need to go downstairs to the cafeteria or to the restroom, you can just check the board when you return. Keep the beepers inside the building so you'll always know when to go to the desk. read more

We are new to Kettering Health System, since Feb., 2021. We had to choose a primary care doctor, as ours retired. We went to the same doctor for 27 years. It was very trying attempting to find a doctor that might fit our needs. We did find a doctor. So far, we have found that communication is poor and attitudes are not what we expected from this health care system. read more

The staff is great and the care fine-that's what the 4 stars are for. This is a very good hospital! But..... the ER is entirely too slow and gets ONE STAR. 5+ hours to get my 84 year old father into a room after what was supposed to be a simple "re-admission" is just inexcusable. Long story short-he had been at Kettering the entire week before (cancer patient). They sent him out to a rehab facility and he was to come back every day for radiation treatment. There was a snafu on both ends with transportation (as he can not walk), and after a weekend at the facility they told us go back to the hospital, through ER, for re-admission. I guess no one called the ER and told them this was a re-admission and all of the paperwork was right there.... they treated him like he had never been there before, and 5+ hours later put him the same room he had been in the entire week before! At one point he laid there in ER for over an hour before someone even came in to check on him. Just a total mess all of the way around....and the next day they sent back out to the rehab facility! Time, money, and his health were wasted on this particular evening. Not to mention the stress. Moral of the story is that Kettering needs to make sure that COMMUNICATION between the cancer hospital, rehab facilities, ER, and doctors is 100%. read more

Seen in the ED at KHMC and was shocked at the lack of nursing concern as a patient. I was there for a serious cardiac issue and I will admit, the doctors were fine, it was the lacking to NO nursing care that is so upsetting. Having been in the ED for almost 8/hrs I was never asked if I was ok, do I need to go to the bathroom, am I hungry or thirsty. The ED was not overly busy, the nurses just truly lack any empathy or caring sense of concern for their patients. And sadly, to call yourself a faith based network is even more of a joke. Someone in a higher up position needs to take a look at the actual care and patient/family complaints and address them as a measure to be the network they state that they are. Within 3 weeks of discharge I was billed almost 19k. My portion is nearly 3k and on the "MyChart" site it shows that the monthly required payment is almost 1k, and is supposed to be paid off within 3 mos. The one thing I can state is that I would NEVER be ignorant enough to chose this facility for any type of care going forward. For those members of the nursing staff, sadly they speak very poorly for those who do care, and they speak poorly for the nursing profession. read more

I brought her personal items in a plastic bag they allowed this bag in her room with wires and strings that could be harmful no one cared likely because she was a black child. no One at the waiting room for the er will even acknowledge your presence. just not a place of care. This hospital is amazing, the staff is like no other. My brother had his pacemaker replaced last year and has been a patient several times since then, (he has a lot of medical issues) but each time the service he got was outstanding. I can't believe how huge and clean this hospital is. I will definitely go there if I need a good doctor or urgent of any kind. Kettering Health Network partners with Buckeye Ambulance. They are not on most insurance networks and send out outrageous bills even after tell you that your covered. Whoever negotiated this deal must have a nice yacht because they did not vett Buckeye Ambulance and are screwing the patients out of thousands. Shame on Kettering Health! My boyfriend and I spent the night on 11/27/18. I have no idea when he will be released but up to this point his stay has been a mess! I'm beyond frustrated with the staff and the untimely manner of procedures that need to done. I contacted patient services at which time i was told reguardless of the time of when test are done we wouldn't be out any faster. I asked about a test when we first walked in. 12 hrs later I asked for the results and they never even took the test! They supposedly had retaken the test but found out in the morning that was not true either. My boyfriend is in for a serious matter and unfortunately we can't just walk out. Getting a menu, asking for towels/blankets, getting water, having to pull a call button, just requesting test results/questions answered etc..... and wait unreasonable amounts of time. Patient services put the blame for the staff's inaccuracies back to us (the patient). This has been such a disappointment. I would never recommend this hospital to anyone! read more

I have had three surgeries at Kettering Hospitals, not one surgery that I had left me in better shape. I had both knees done one the same day at Grandview, very painful recovery, expected. My last visit Dr Brian Ciccarelli twisted my right leg and knee causing my T Band to keep me from walking for months, it was terrible with the pain. Never went to him again. Then I went to Dr. Kamal Woods he assured me he could get rid of my leg and back pain by doing back and neck surgery, I had the surgery and I got worse, I never really recovered to this day. Last I went to Wayne Woodard for hip replacement. He put in the wrong size, within six months my hip dislocated eight times , while they were replacing it on the eighth time at Soin, they cracked two teeth , they never owned up to it. The winter and summer of 2020 I spent six months in the hospital or in a rehab center to repair my body, I'm still not repaired. I must give some of my recovery to Dr. Thomas Cook he did my last surgery that Woodard messed up after two surgeries . Needless to say Kettering Med Center and it's doc's get an F grade from me. Dr. Cicarrelli retired, Dr.Woods left Kettering, Dr. Woodard needs to retired, he used to be good now he's to old. read more

I took my mom here and she was so weak she couldn't walk or speak. It took me 5 minutes just to get her to hold her arm up long enough to sign a consent to treat form. So as i sat there waiting for over 2 hours i took the time to survey the other patients over half of which left since the took so long. They honestly let a kid with rug burn RUG BURN on his cheek no blood just a red patch on his cheek who got there an hour after us in the er over someone who couldn't even walk and who was severely out of it. 10/10 would not recommend. read more

On 7/8/2018 I arrived at KMC presenting with left sided headache radiating from the distal left nares! I had photosensitivty and audiosensitivity. I want to say up front that I have always gotten wonderful care at KMC in all departments until that night! I was triaged and put in room 16 assessed by a nurse and then Dr Tanner Shay Weigan came in with a physician assistant. I have already complained about his behavior directly to KMC, this complaint is for you Dr Weigand! Instead of doing a good old fashioned head to toe exam on me you talked down to me and ordered a BRAIN SCAN! I told you that I had a mass in the inside of my left nostril way at the end of the lip of my nose. I told her that I was a disabled former nurse and that before I left the house I had gloved up and put a finger up there and felt an irregular fleshy object. She grabs an otoscope with the pointy end that is normally used for ears and tried to look in my nose, I know that she couldn't possibly have turned that pointy end to see anything near where I felt the very painful irregular fleshy object in my left nostril! Instead of gloving up like any other doctor should have she did a Neuro exam that was completely normal. Once again I had done this before I left the house. With no direct exam she ordered a BRAIN SCAN! I had a full cardiac workup on 3/1/2018 so this was way too much radiation for a woman who is already chronically ill. Over the time that I have been ill in the past 18 years I have lost count of the frequent unnecessary radiation I have been subjected to by doctors who ignored me way too often! I have the scan and it shows nothing but an old stroke that I suffered as a teenager that I already knew was there. She proceeds to hit me with a diagnosis of Trigeminal Neuralgia Syndrome and she wants to put me on an antidepressant! Tegretal by name that I found out later on when I finally got home and looked it up on my tablet in low blueshade light that it was contraindicated for anyone who had problems with med sensitivity and that it CAUSED not could cause but definitely caused suicidal tendency in patients who were sensitive to meds! It's not like I didn't tell her that I had in my past massive sensitivity to meds and that I had attempted suicide 3 times due to meds that had been prescribed by doctors and it was still alive only by the grace of God! Once again she made the choice to ignore me, whips out her phone out and reads me the normal side effects! I said could you scroll down to the abnormal side effects because that is where I usually have problems! She didn't do that she read me more slightly less normal side effects! She's totally ignoring my fears, she never adequately examined me, ordered an expensive massively over rated hugely radioactive CT BRAIN SCAN! IF she had just gloved up and done a proper exam I wouldn't be glowing in the dark, instead she totally talked down to me, ignored my concerns and totally MISSED the diagnosis! I knew she was wrong and so were nightshift when I was still there 3 & a half hours after midnight! Once again I have already addressed that atrocity in detail the next day at hospital complaint. This is all about her, because I would have never been in the ED after midnight if she hadn't missed the diagnosis! I knew when the sun came up that she was wrong because I could stand light and noise. I still had left sided head pain but it was starting to fade. I had been up all night and I was angry about had treatment that I had never had before! I just want her to know that I'm still angry because even though my ENT was fascinated by my stupid unneeded brain scan, I'm sorry I did this to him but I said Dr could you stop staring at that brain scan and examine me? I didn't mean to embarrass him but I did get what I needed. He got out the proper device which is a laser lighted cath, number my nose and I knew by the change in his face that he found it! He then gloved up and digitally examined me in the left nostril! Here's the real kicker the treatment was VASELINE and the diagnosis was ingrown nasal hairs! THE TREAMENT WAS KEEPING IT MOIST WITH VASELINE! Please, please tell me you will stop looking down at your patients, please stop using all that poisonous tech and start using some good bedside tech instead! Seriously your the one who needs the brain scan! Your 29 years old, it's not too late to change professions, I hear McDonald's is hiring! read more
