I'm very happy with the service dept. In the fall I had both tires and tubes replaced. Hadn't road since. Tires were both flat Saturday. I dropped bike off for inspection and they replaced both tubes saying the valves were faulty. Replaced free of charge and got me on my way in 15 minutes. I give them a 10 out of 10 ! read more

These guys won't let you waste money. I brought my bike in after it spent the summer on my car's carrier to get it tuned up, and Sam tested the gears, sprayed it and said "Just ride it, man." Then I had Bill look at my wobbly, beat-up carrier, and he popped out a wrench and tightened it where it needed tightening. Neither one of these gentlemen asked for a dime. We visited all the shops in the area as we had just started our hunt for new bikes. The rest were just okay. Kettering Bike Shop had the best customer service hands down. Dale and Elizabeth were friendly and knowledgeable. Dale helped us pick entry level mountain bikes that should work perfectly for us as we start out. He could have tried to upsell us, but he was mindful of our budget and experience level. Although, he did "convince" me to add on a water bottle holder. Well, I'd planned on one anyway. We also had my old bike serviced their and it was great. We're currently waiting to pick up another bike we just dropped off for a tune up and new chain. We ended up with an exercise bike from them too. Dale offered to help get it into the car, but we figured we could handle it. The next thing we know the owner is right there helping my husband load it and giving him some extra pointers on how it works. That's what I call great service. read more

When my family and I buy or service our bicycles we will be using Kettering Bike Shop for all our needs. Dale was super helpful with the purchase of my new Trek as well as my wife's. As well as servicing some older bikes. Upfront and friendly the entire time. Then Elizabeth, I think that's her name, pregnant at the time, helped us with a airdyn exercise bike. Anyway, my family are impressed with their service and recommend them highly. A lot of the shops around Dayton are really good and all are pretty knowledgeable, but Kettering stood outside bit more. I have been going to the Old Kettering Bike Shop for years (now a TREK shop after the owner retired) and they have been very helpful. Today I took my vintage TREK 2100 Carbon Fiber road bike in with some flight deck shifter issues. Sam (pleasant & knowledgeable head mechanic) threw it up on the bike rack and within 3 minutes had it functioning like new. He said, "there you go...go ride!" Damn, that was quick! Awesome place with a huge selection of bikes - - new and pre-owned. Intended to look around today at used bikes and obtain info because it's been decades since I owned/rode a bike. Talked with Tygan, a young man that was very knowledgeable (and honest) about bicycles and accessories. Ended up purchasing a really nice used bike for my height and basic accessories to build my own maintenance kit. Fab place that doesn't push the sale. Instead the staff is more concerned about learning about your personal cycling needs. Very happy with my new bike. Update 5/2019: Just unraveled the spare inner tube purchased with the bike since I'm riding tomorrow. It's the wrong size! I no longer have the original packaging or receipt so can't return. You would think they would know to match the tube with the bike. read more

My first visit here was very positive. Super friendly staff (and owner, I think) that went out of their way to answer my questions. I can buy bikes and bike parts anywhere; why I frequent a particular shop is for the service and the folks working in the repair shop. I tested the first criteria, and I am sure that the opportunity to test their repair service will come soon. We visited a few times to investigate a new bike for me. Over the visits we were helped by three different individuals, all friendly, all patient, all very knowledgeable. No one was pushy or salesperson-like. In the end I got a Specialized Sirrus 2.0 on sale for I think 10% off. I took it for a first ride yesterday and loved it--a major upgrade over the old 3-speed Huffy I'd gotten used a few years prior. Worst experience ever. I will never return to this bikeshop. People were not friendly especially when asked questions. As a first time customer I expect to be treated with dignity and respect and not in an unfriendly and sarcastic way. I am in no way familiar with bike terms nor do I know what it entails to fix a bike. I pay a lot of money and expect to be informed on what is being done to my bike and in a friendly manner. Today I just starting looking for a new bike and I'm a newbie to the world of bikes. I haven't had a bike in years and the last one I had was from Walmart so you can imagine how lost I was walking into a bike shop. Thankfully Greg swooped right in and saved the day! I explained that I just started looking and wasn't sure what exactly I was looking for. Greg happily explained the different styles and what they were good for! I learned so much and was able to narrow down the type of bike I am looking for! He was even able to just look at me and tell me what size bike I would need! I needed a bike I could ride to the gym (too far to walk, too short to drive guilt-free). I had seen some positive testimonials about Kettering Bike Shop on Reddit, so I decided to check them out. The shop itself is bright and clean, with the bikes all neatly arranged and accessible. I browsed around until I had settled into the mountain bike section. I started to feel a bit confused and started rubbing my chin, hoping the other customers wouldn't notice I had no idea what I was doing. As if on cue, a voice piped up from my periphery, "Is there anything I can help you with?" (or something similarly anodyne and pleasant) I turned to face the Kettering Bicycle Shop staff member. Like the shop itself, this employee was also bright and clean. (She was quite knowledgeable and had excellent grooming.) I explained what I was looking for, and she listed a couple of options, each option followed by the general pros and cons of that option. This helped me to narrow things down. Once I had narrowed my decision down to two bikes, she compared the two bikes against one another. This was awesome. Normally, before I make a purchase, I would have to go home and research, forming an aggregate opinion from multiple online reviews. Not this time! I walked in and walked out with my new bicycle in less than 15 minutes! At no time did this staff member try to "sell" me a bicycle. She was knowledgeable, helpful, and attentive. At no time was I pressured to buy or made to feel like a noob due to my complete ignorance of bicycling. All in all, things went much better than expected. read more

Came in with a problem with my bike computer. Willingly ready to buy a new computer. The tech took over 30 min checking it out and determined that it was the battery. Went in today and purchased two Trek mountain bicycles. The staff was incredibly knowledgable and knew even the minute differences between the models. We were able to test drive a couple and settle on a selection. They worked with me to get a great deal, and even included kickstands for both machines. I recently purchased a BMX bike for my son who started racing at Delco Park. After a month of riding he noticed the front wheel and bottom bracket didn't "feel" right. We brought the bike in to the shop where they diagnosed and repaired the bike under warranty within 24 hours. I consider them prompt, resourceful, and quite knowledgable.
