During our Alaska trip , we had our Ketchikan excursion to this Lodge…read more U board a speed boat at the pier & then out, beautiful scenery they even feed the bald eagles pretty cool to watch. When we got to shore they tell u a bit about the history & location u walk around a bit , also head into the Tongass rain forest for a short hike very cool the Forrest! Nature is truly on display here, aside from the bald eagles, there were a few Deer's walking around. After the hike then it's feeding time & we were served an Alaskan boil all part of our excursion, this was a lot .. plenty of seafood , it was very good! They offer beverages & even a sweet treat at the end of the meal, good cookie. This lodge is beautiful , nicely kept, the staff was very nice & friendly , we had a gorgeous day the day of our excursion which we came to find out are not common so happy we got the beautiful day because it gave us some excellent pictures & a lifetime of memories this was a great day definitely worth the visit.

My husband and I booked this tour thru our cruise ship…read more We took a bus ride from our ship to a little dock where we boarded a boat. Before we went on the boat, our tour guide Dalen threw some fish into the ocean and we got to see maybe 5 or 6 bald eagles fly out of the nearby forest and scoop up the fish. So cool! These birds know what's going on. Then Dalen took sailed us to a nearby island where we were able to view an eagle's nest from the boat. And he threw some more fish into the water and the eagles came down to eat again. Then we were off again were we passed some secret stuff (I won't say it here but it was quite interesting). Dalen was great at teaching us about the different types of salmon, information about bald eagles, and facts about what we were seeing along the way. He had a lot of pun-ny jokes that every dad would love. The boat ride itself was very smooth even though the boat was moving very fast. The windows are also open during the ride so you get a lot of fresh air. We finally got to the lodge and saw some deer just lazing around in the front. We had a short tour thru the nearby forest in back of the lodge. The whole path in the forest is made out of sturdy wooden planks with only a slight incline. We got to see some really tall trees and at the end saw a really huge red cedar? Tree named Chester. It was fairly cool that day and there were no mosquitos. We ended our tour with a crab boil feast at their outside tables with a great view of the ocean. You sit at these round tables where they dump all of the goodies of steamed crab, mussels, sausage, corn, onions, potatoes, shrimp, and garlic cloves in the center of the paper-covered table. Each person has their own tongs to grab what they want and you just leave the scraps on the table. Everybody has their own crab cracker too. They go over how to crack and open a crab leg to everyone. They also give you melted butter to dip your food in and lemon juice and cajun seasoning on the side. They also come around with a basket of buttered toasted bread and it was heaven to spread a soft garlic clove all over the top and eat it. They had some bread leftover so of course I ate some more. While we ate, Dalen played a trivia game so if you listened really good to his tour, you'll know all the answers. My husband won a cute pen and some fake snow. They also had lemonade, bottled water, tea and hot chocolate to drink. At the end of the feast we had the most amazing soft, gooey cookies from the oven. Be fast, I was lucky enough to get the last cookie. You can wash your hands in their outside sinks and use their tidy and clean bathrooms. They also have a tiny cozy gift shop if you want a souvenir and a world map where you can pin where you are from. The only thing that was kind of awkward was that we had to eat at a table with 6 other strangers. Thankfully, we were all friendly and polite but I had to watch myself from growling over the last crab leg and our table pretty much cleared all of the food. I also wish there was more crab to go around; I think that's why I was able to eat so much delicious bread. The outside sinks also ran out of soap so I just washed my hands in the bathroom sink instead. It was a nice ride back and I kept thinking that my dad and bro would love to go fishing here. I would come back for the cookies!

We were on a cruise and hadn't booked anything (fortunately) in Ketchikan. Having an open schedule…read moreallowed us to find Lisa's van around the pier and we asked her about her tour services. We were so pleased with her tour! She is a local and of Tlingit heritage. Her perspective was unique and she shared some of her rich family history with us. We also loved having the ability to make special requests to see things - something that we couldn't do on a bus tour. At one stop (looking for bears) a busload of people were starting to load and a lady asked us how much we paid for our private tour. We told her. She said she wished her and her husband would have booked with Lisa. While our private tour was a bit more expensive than their excursion booked through their cruise line, she said their bus tour was really disappointing. On the other hand, Lisa knew where to take us, went off script to let us look for bears and took us to very interesting local places. We saw a whale spout beside the road and were able to turn around and watch it. We went and left at our pace. She brought her native family drum and sang a couple of Tlingit songs for us. She explained the significance of the totem poles and talked to us about her family. Some still live in a very traditional manner. She knows all the local people and is well known and liked. I highly recommend contacting Lisa and booking a 3 hour tour if you prefer a more individualized experience.

I booked a tour with Lisa in 2019. I had to cancel soon after booking as COVID cancelled all…read moretravel. I had paid in full for a tour (over $200) which Lisa had reassured me a full refund for any cancellations. She kept promising to refund me and to this day I have not received any reimbursement from her. I have emails saved of all communication with her to prove this statement as true.
