Excellent service, tasty food, delicious drinks & great prices…read more We highly recommend. We

Prebook in advance to avoid disappointment!…read more I booked this for our anniversary meal. Despite turning up on time we had to queue outside for at least 25 minutes with several others waiting for people to finish their meals. Once inside the waiter was super apologetic, and you could tell he needed a drink himself. The restaurant was very cosy with interesting pieces of art on the walls. A nice very traditional feel about the place. Anyway the starters consisted of various seafood and meat dishes to which you can size up as a main on average pricing of £7 to £15. I had the pork cheeks and himself the clam spaghetti. While we waited we were presented with canapés consisting of cheese and carmalised onions..the other truffle oil on crackers. These were a very tasty treat. The spaghetti was well made and the sauce light smothering the tiny clams. My pork cheek was super tender, and it lay perched on perfect mash, panchetta, black pudding, pickled onions in a tomato broth. Various bits of bread was also served to mop up this juice. Only criticism clam meat is sooo small in this country so not worth the battle against the shells for such a tiny reward. For mains I had the seafood special which was a bowl filled with mussels, clams, scallop, king prawns and longuistines swimming in a broth and fresh pasta. This was super tasty, cooked to perfection and presented nicely. My only gripe was I only had one at most two scallops. My other half chose the lamb which again was super tender, in a homely bed of mash, sauce and root vegetables. Super simple dish but everything was cooked perfectly. I was feeling quite full but the orange panacotta with orange sorbet was too tasty to miss. It didn't disappoint. Overall despite the disappointing beginning the service was impeccable and food really tasty. However I did expect a bit more in terms of creativity considering this was a Michelin star restaurant. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy your seafood especially.

It's not greasy or filled with heavy and sticky sauce. They have the stir fried rice or noodle dishes with beef/pork/seafood and vegetables, which would be ideal for individual accompanied with a bowel of hot &sour soup or seafood tofu soup. There are also traditional style of Chinese food like different dishes with rices. It's very practical menu and options and the taste is really decent.

We arrived to be ushered to a table without a single word from the person who seemed to be overseeing the tables. He was dressed as though he was about to go out skateboarding! Hardy professional. When we finally got to place our order, while the waitress was pleasant enough, she had no idea whether one of the dishes we wanted contained fish or meat. She said she'd find out - but never bothered to come back to us. I didn't forget but decided not to pursue it. I ordered a diet coke. What arrived was flat and tepid, as though it was from a long since opened bottle. The food wasn't bad, per se, but it was really nothing special at all - certainly no better than any number of Chinese takeaways that I've been to.

Well, this is a bit out of my local area, but thought it worthy of a review…read more Took the BF to Barnard Castle for the weekend as a 30th birthday treat, and thought I'd book us into a restaurant for the evening. After having a look around Trip Advisor, I settled on Blagraves House as the reviews seemed pretty good. I was really, really impressed with this little place, and for me it definitely earned those 5 stars. First of all was the building, which is 15th century and reminded us a little of something from the Harry Potter films, with lots of character. The history of the place is amazing - though I won't go into it here as there's just far too much! Just have a Google if you fancy it. The welcome we received was really warm and genuine, the two waitresses were very friendly, very helpful, and always on hand if you needed something. We went on a Saturday so chose from the a la carte menu (it's a set menu on weekdays). I went for a seafood casserole with coriander and chilli for starter, and roast chicken breast stuffed with rosemary and goats cheese for main. The BF went for a crab and lobster tart with thermidor sauce to start, and fillet of beef for main. The starters were each perfect. My seafood casserole contained chunks of salmon, sea bass and cod, and some large juicy king prawns. The fish was perfectly cooked, and the casserole had a wonderful thai taste to it. I tried a bit of the lobster and crab tart and it was delicious - big chunks of meat, the pastry was perfectly done, and the sauce was gorgeous. The mains were heavenly. My chicken was lovely and moist, perfectly cooked through, and went really well with the goats cheese stuffing. The fillet beef was cooked exactly as the BF ordered (rare), and was so full of flavour. The mains came with a dish of seasonal veg which were also perfectly cooked - just al dente and nicely seasoned. We also got a dish of dauphinoise potatoes which were delightful. Despite being stuffed to the gills, we went for a dessert each too. I had an absolutely gorgeous chocolate torte, and the BF went for a scrumptious sticky toffee pudding. Both were absolutely divine. All in all, I'd happily say it was one of the best meals I've ever had, in one of the most unique restaurants I've ever been to.

Without doubt the best restaurant experience we have ever had. Beautiful place.wonderful service…read moreand delicious food!!!!!!! Well worth a visit and not too expensive either. Wonderful!!!!!
